Strawberry Meth? Please...No!
Flavored Meth Aimed at First-Time Buyers
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Arkansas police officers had seen leftover methamphetamine ingredients just like the mess they found in a suspected cook's trash can last month. What gave them pause this time were the packets of strawberry-flavored children's drink mix next to the bin. It was among the officers' first encounters with "Strawberry Quick," the latest version of methamphetamine, a drug authorities say manufacturers are constantly remaking to keep their customer base growing. From lollipops to high-sugar sodas, law enforcement officials say they've found meth cut with a variety of candies, drinks and other materials over the years. Officials say the "designer meth" can smooth the ingestion of the drug, making it easier for first-time users to try. "It's really a bitter substance ... so if you're going to try to make it more consumable for the masses, then you're going to want to try to take that edge off whichever way you can," said Chris Harrison, chief illicit laboratory chemist at the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory. "Strawberry Quick" came to prominence in January, after the Nevada Department of Public Safety issued a bulletin describing the type of meth there, said Steve Robertson, a Washington-based spokesman for the Drug Enforcement Administration. DEA agents have since heard reports of flavored meth appearing in Missouri, Texas, Washington state and Wisconsin - though Robertson stressed it was not a nationwide phenomenon. "Traffickers are out there and are trying to sell it to customers, whether they are young customers or older, brand-new customers by changing the color or the taste or just giving it a less-intimidating name, they are trying to make it seem less dangerous and lure this new customer base," Robertson said. "If someone was completely terrified of trying it, it might diminish the threat." "Strawberry Quick" uses powdered drink mix to give the drug a pink coloring. The sweetness of the powder can make meth more palatable and partially masks its harsh chemical taste. Cutting the meth also may soften the burning sensation some have when snorting the powdered drug, Harrison said. "It's a different spin, like a marketing thing," said William Bryant, assistant special agent in charge of the DEA's office in Little Rock. Methamphetamine is found in powder and in a crystalized form similar to broken glass. Its low boiling point allows for it to be smoked or injected easily. Because of its chemical properties, meth easily mixes into any water-based liquid. Caffeinated, high-sugar energy drinks and sodas often litter areas where meth cookers manufacture the drug, sometimes used as a chaser to the stimulant, Harrison said. |

Swim has no experience with meth, but wouldn't the high sugar content of what they are cutting it with make it even less tollerable, and make a greater amount to snort? Swim wonders what the throat drippings would taste like. |

Re: Strawberry Meth? Please...No!
Every Google search for articles containing the words "strawberry" and "methamphetamine" yields results dating back no farther than April 1. I smell bullshit (for "bullshit" read "propaganda"). Anyone more familiar with the territory than I want to enlighten us as to whether this shit is actually going on, and if so, whether the cops' interpretations of the reasons behind it are valid, or whether this is more "the evil drug pushers are out to get our children" / "blue star LSD" crapola?

Bongo will make a point out of buying some Strawberry Quick on his next sojurn to the supermarket. He might even try some in a glass of milk. But the rest shall live in a prominent place of honor in his kitchen as a lasting joke. Right next to the baking-soda!

Looks like Fox picked up the the so called story too.... right up their alley. The sad thing is I just put "Strawberry Quick " with no quotes into Google and that was the first link. I can see the cops/judges having a meeting just to think up the next stupid drug-scare story. They know it only has to make it on Fox and it's believed by more than half the country. |

Re: Strawberry Meth? Please...No!
SWIM had some strawberry flavoured K a few weeks back. SWIM offered some random dude some of his K and the dude gave him some back in return. He said he had added flavoured drops to the liquid before cooking it up. Was really good, since K normally tastes like shit.

Re: Strawberry Meth? Please...No!
What I think is funny/sad is how they say "you can get addicted with just ONE hit" and how people will steal $$ from parents/SO's and basically do anything to get more when they are out of it.
AND I'm paraphrasing here, 'it's the worst/largest drug problem facing the US today'. According to the numbers from this fairly respectable site - http://stopthedrugwar.org/chronicle-.../sudafed.shtml Quote:
Ummm btw, isn't Robitussin and MANY other drugs legally pushed onto millions of people, cherry or orange flavored? Flintstones Vitamins, numerous pills and cough syrups are artificially flavored. Should we blame all those pharm companies for pushing "flavored" drugs onto us and our kids????....... YES!!!!!!!!!!! Last edited by rodent; 13-05-2007 at 04:25. |

Re: Strawberry Meth? Please...No!
Well in Speedy's neck of the woods, there is more demand than supply. Therefore no dealers are trying to get kids "hooked" on anything. They have no problem getting rid of everything they have. No need to try to get kids "hooked". Now he has been known to add some food coloring just for kicks.

Re: Strawberry Meth? Please...No!
^I doubt very much whether there is much of a conspiracy anywhere (outside of, perhaps, an organized drug-crime syndicate run like Amway) to get kids hooked on anything. That always smacks of square propaganda. There's never any shortage of willing volunteers. I could be wrong about big-city crack gangs, but ... I expect the situation is much the same everywhere.

Re: Strawberry Meth? Please...No!
swim doesnt think this sounds to farfetched. Swims less intelligent friends will always choose a brightly colored mdma tab over pure mdma. The branding and marketing of illegal drugs is nothing new and in a society that is obsessed with branding over quality. swim doubts anyones soul less enough to target children in particular especially due to their limited financial capitol. IMO this probably is a practice in use, the pink tasty meth likely lures in white trash but this by no means is a vicious plot to corrupt the youth of a nation.

Re: Strawberry Meth? Please...No!
Actually, this is NOT farfetched! Although it sounds rediculous, swim heard from some dude he knows, about it before reading this article, serious!
swim lives in california, in the centeral valley, and his buddy(in which is actually not that smart about drugs, but knows synthesisers) told him:"hey, you know they have strawberry meth now", and swim told him "o yea?", because he didn't really care at the moment. But really. swim believes only because his buddy, besides this, he would never listen to the right-wing-nuts from fox! Last edited by Swimster; 10-06-2007 at 21:19. |

Re: Strawberry Meth? Please...No!
I would think that adding that quik qrap would piss off a smoker, Load this in your pookie and watch it turn black when lit. S.W.I.M. would take the back so fast, the conection would have some explaining to do. What if one were to jack a load in thier arm? I guess that would nt be good for ne one .
I wouldnt just blame the " right " for putting this story out in the media, News need news to put out there. Remember the "left ist " CBS and their Bull Crap lying that they have breaking news in reguards to George Bush's military record. dam Rather had to resign his anchor job at the left ist ran CBS. |

Fruit flavoured methamphetamine claims untrue
Fruit flavoured 'P' claims untrue
Friday, 29 June 2007 Stuff News (NZ) An e-mail warning of the availability of fruit-flavoured methamphetamine appears to have no validity, the Drug Foundation says. The e-mail warned parents, schools and drug treatment workers that drug dealers were adding artificial flavouring, such as strawberry, to methamphetamine to make it more attractive to children. The e-mail originated from the United States, but has quickly spread. The Drug Foundation said today it had received "numerous" enquiries from its members about the validity of the warning and had undertaken its own investigations. The organisation's US counterparts described the warning as an urban myth, "which distracts from larger alcohol and other drug problems confronting youth". Both the US Drug Enforcement Agency and the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) said they had not been able to identify a single confirmed seizure of flavoured methamphetamine. It appeared that US officials were confusing coloured methamphetamine (which is relatively common) with flavoured methamphetamine. Some ingredients used in the manufacture of methamphetamine colour it light pink. The drug can also appear greenish or blue. http://www.stuff.co.nz/4112410a11.html |

OMG. Do we believe goverment agencies now? Why would they be right now when they are wrong about everything else having to do with drugs?
and their reasoning is, because they didn't find any=there is none? ha hahahahahahahha but not funny. |
