The Learyan Theory of the 8-circuit brain
I've noted several times now, that the community here are also well aware of the Learyan theory of the 8-circuit brain. Well, I've also been reading up on it and am very intrigued.
My question would be, are there any people out there who actually apply the theory to every-day-life? I seem to have a compulsion to do so... I somehow feel that systemizing my brain's activity in this way would greatly enhance the productivity of each circuit. I also find myself obsessed with the (so-called) 3rd, or semantic, circuit/trance. But haven't yet ventured beyond the 5th circuit and am very eager to do so. Also would like to ask if people who have gone to the final circuits (ketamine, LSD), can you... diificult to phrase... somehow 'go back there' without actually taking anything? Some might call it a flashback, is there any way you can induce it yourself? Basically, if anyone else has ever tried to apply this in any way, please indulge Very intereting subject, hope to hear some replies.Hum. |

Re: The 8-circuit brain
The activation of the 8 circuits and the application of the 8 circuit brain model is dealt with in two books:
Prometheus Rising, by Robert Anton Wilson and Angel Tech: A Modern Shamans Guide to Reality Selection by Antero Alli. You can even listen to Alli talk about that on R. U. Sirius's Neofiles'podcast.' |

Re: The 8-circuit brain
Leary boosted the idea from the concept of Kundalini and chakras from Hindu texts. And, of course, claimed credit for an idea that had been kicking around for thousands of years. Good 'ol humble Doctor Tim! LOL!
Look into these from your favorite fount of information. Courses in Kundalini yoga are available in many, many places. And you won't need a note from the (deceased) doctor. I highly recommend reading the book Millbrook by Art Kleps to anyone thinking of following Leary and his ideas. It might not dussuade you - but at least you'll end up on the floor holding your ribs! |

Re: The 8-circuit brain
The idea of octaves seems to have come from the Sufi mystics via Gurdeiff. As Bongo says, similar models/ maps of consciousness have existed for a long time, but Leary had a new angle on these. Leary was a joker.

I guess if I do a bit more of research these views will perish anyway, but I'll love it till it lasts. But I'll keep your suggestion in mind. Thank you ![]() And thanks for the info, Enq. Last edited by Humanity; 01-05-2007 at 17:50. Reason: Inq -> Enq |
