why is there caffine in my soap?

Wash Caffeine Into Your Skin
Posted in Bizarre by pat on the April 20th, 2007

There is a new soap on the market that will let you get the equivalent of 2 cups of coffee with your morning shower. Its Caffeinated Soap.

From Reuters here:

Inventors have created a soap infused with caffeine which helps users wake up in the morning.

The soap, called Shower Shock, supplies the caffeine equivalent of two cups of coffee per wash, with the stimulant absorbed naturally through the skin, manufacturers say.

Scented with peppermint oil, each bar is designed to provide a stimulant boost within five minutes.

Do you think you can take two showers and get four cups of coffee? And can you wash your way to weight loss?

Re: why is there caffine in my soap?

Swim heard that it isn't nearly as effective as they claim. Each serving does contain that much caffeine, but unless you leave it on your skin, constantly lathering for obsencely long amounts of time, im not sure you'll get anywhere close to the claimed dose.

its seems like it isnt too to expensive so it might be worth it for swiy to test it out though.

Re: why is there caffine in my soap?

the only way swim thinks it would work is if the soap also contained DMSO or another transdermal chemical thingy.otherwise how would the caffine get into your skin?

Re: why is there caffine in my soap?

i seem to remember that swidvgrn was very much into soap something along the lines of swiy getting vineger/dr.murphys,and lemon juice all in your eyes just trying to wash your hair and the acid/base levels and how they effected swidvgrn hair and all that stuff, maybethis caffine soap has some natural substance that can penetrate the skin?like one of the oils,is there an oil that can do that?

zim:why is there bacon in the soap!!??!!??!
GRR:i made it myself...

Re: why is there caffine in my soap?

Haha swim recalls, and he says it's dr. bronners.
swim thinks he read something in an aromatherapy book about an oil that dialates pores, for other treatments to be more effective... but swim looked at the ingrediants and there really isnt any special oils that dont appear in normal soap... other than Tetrasodium... which swim looked up and found is a slightly toxic and mildly irritating food additive.

Re: why is there caffine in my soap?

Even if it was somewhat efficient, seems popping a caffeine pill in the morning would be more effective, at least value wise.

Re: why is there caffine in my soap?

What next? A de-caf double-latte mocha bubble-bath? Smirnoff Vodka shampoo with an olive? Diphenhydramine-rinse for late-night? Caffeine-soap...sounds like something Cartman would invent on South Park to go with eating by sticking food up your ass.

Re: why is there caffine in my soap?

Dont think it would be effective unless it contains HUGE amount of caffeine (hey! extraction!). The Firecat thinks it's like an advertisemental purpose (by trying to make it scientifically related)
