Well it's that wonderful time of year again where people around the world celebrate the wonderful plant cannabis sativa and how it died for our sins and get stoned with thier families whilst opening presents filled with drug paraphenalia around the 420 tree.

But what if people who use drugs other than pot had a say in this great holiday? What if 420 became not just a rallying cry for pot users but for users of ALL drugs? 420 could be internernation drug day or something. becuase I see the message of 420 being corrupted by legalizers with questionable motives like NORML (probably the ONLY reason pot isn't legal in nevade right now is becuase of normls misleading ad campaign calling for the legalizationof MEDICINAL marijauna when it was already legal here and the republicans jumped on it)

So in closing, make 420 your own, make it a day to get high off of your drug of choice and not just weed.

Yes, I realize that, but I also realize that they lied to us in the 2002 election, nevadans aren't a bunch of country bumpkins, you don;t have to lie to us to get us to vote for legalizing weed. The ad campaign in question I was referring to was a little gem where a women ina wheelchair was pleading to the cameras and a doctor to legalize medicinal marijuana. But medical mj was already legal here, it was lies, it pissed us off, and it got used as fodder for republicans as a case to continue mj prohibition. Which is why I have no respect for norml. then they get some respect for the people in the stes they are campaigning in maybe then they'll earn it back.

you're not making any sence at all. medical mj was not legal in nevada before norml put the money into the campaign to make it so.

the reason the "3oz" decriminalization didn't pass had NOTHING to do with norml's commercial showing the MAIN reason of the campaign, it was because their were STATE OFFICERS working WHILE ON TAX PAYERS MONEY to campaign against the measure; and mostly because the FEDERAL drug czar decided to stump the 10th amendment again and get involved in a state level political campaign.
NORML has done great things for the marijuana movement, WTF have you done?? If it wasn't for NORML, i promise you that your state would still not allow medical marijuana and more importantly would still be giving PRISON time for posession.

Dammit pink, can you fucking read? I just said that medical mj was already legal, I am not talking about medical mj or decriminalization. I am talking about the full legalization campaign that took place here in nevada in the 2002 elections in which norml tried to mislead the public by making an advertising camapign that was full of lies.

I can read just fine. I'm talking about the same thing. NORML legalized medical mj in nevada in 1998, same year as washington state. In 2002 NORML attempted to go further and decrim up to 3oz of marijuana in nevada. They were using footage of medical marijuana cases due to the fact that the MAIN reason they were campaigning for the decriminalization is because though the medical use was legal, it was still impossible for patients to get their medicine without breaking the law.
The reason the 2002 law didn't pass has nothing to do with the way NORML ran the campaign, it was because police campainged against it while on the tax-payer clock, as well as the drug czar steping in, as I said above.

My point is give fucking credit where credit is due, and have some fucking stoner pride. NORML has done more for the movement than any other group or individual. What have you done to step up and say that NORML caused the 3oz law to not be passed, and more importantly what the fuck have you done to further the movement, especially compared to NORML?

Please, educate yourself on the facts, before making statements like that. This isn't the place to bash good organizations like NORML without good reason.

Ric, if you want a decent overview of the early days of NORML, read "High in America" by Patrick Anderson. You can pick it up at used bookstores for cheap, usually. It's not a brilliant piece of work but it opened my eyes to a big slice of social history that is underreported, and it shows what a tickly line you have to tread to be an activist for <drugs>.
