Re: Poppy Tea Preparation
quick question:
if SWIY isn't interested in dealing with CFO, have you tried a slurry. from what my friend tells me it requires half the amount of pod material as pod tea to get great results. not only that, but it cuts on trying to extract more from the material, because ingesting it means you get EVERYTHING. http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/sho...ghlight=slurry |

Re: Poppy Tea Preparation
SWIM likes this method best. It's quick, easy, and has always worked very well for her:
1. Take 3-4 medium/large pods (or 1-2 jumbos) or whatever gets SWIY off. 2. Wipe outer shell with a wet paper towel or rinse under running water (pesticides). 3. Crush using a weed grinder, mortar/pestle, or coffee grinder as finely as possible. 4. Put powdered pods in coffee pot. 5. Add desired amount of water to said coffee maker, turn on, and allow to steep for 30 minutes. 6. Remove coffee pot, swirl/stir pod debris around, and strain using a coffee filter, cloth, or piece of clothing (SWIM likes coffee filters, but if SWIY's looking for stronger tea, use a tea ball or other mesh wire filter). 7. Add ginger powder, cinnamon, green tea, or other taste-masking substance of choice (ginger is great for reducing nausea). 8. ENJOY! |

Re: Poppy Tea Preparation
SWIM is not sure about what temperature the coffee maker heats the water to but if its to high it will destroy some of the opiates.

Re: Poppy Tea Preparation
SWIM made her first cup of poppy pod tea about an hour ago and says the tea is almost tolerable after adding large amounts of honey and brown sugar, but so far the results are worth the bad taste. SWIM boiled 2 cups of water then removed it from the stove. Using a candy thermometer SWIM checked the temp of the water and when it was below 70C added the cruched pods. SWIM also added a few cinnamon sticks and whole cloves along with a touch of vanilla and almond extracts.
SWIM'S question is what should she do with the material left over? Can it be stored to make another cup of tea and if so should SWIM refrigerate it or leave it at room temp or should it just be tossed out? |

Re: Poppy Tea Preparation
dont throw it away it contains more goodies. If you can bare the taste SWIM would mix it with pudding and gag it down. SWIM doesen't make tea anymore because eating the entire pod is more efficient.

Re: Poppy Tea Preparation
SWIM knows people use Papaver Somniferum pods for tea. SWIM is wondering if anyone has used Papaver Setigerum pods for tea & if so what were the results? SWIM ask this because Papaver Somniferum pods are not legal in USA.

Although it's true that papaver somniferum is de jure illegal in the United States, de facto it's more or less acceptable. Papaver somniferum pods are commonly used in dried flower arrangements (although they are often treated in a manner that makes them useless for human consumption) and their seeds are very common in cooking, etc. If your friend is concerned, as long as the ground pods are disposed of in the garbage disposal as soon as s/he is done steeping them, and no other evidence of intended consumption is left lingering about, the worst their likely to face is having their stash confiscated. |
