Re: Alcohol IV QUESTION

I've seen "don't shoot alcohol" many times, but what's the logic behind it?

I'm aware that alcohol can be taken via I.V. drip...SWIM really isn't fond of needles, and would question the wisdom of shooting bourbon/wine/anything that wasn't pure, but what about Everclear or anhydrous alcohol (200 proof)?

What's the inherent danger over and above that associated with IVing any downer?

Umm.. Overdose Shutting down of the brain functions that control breathing and heart rate which can lead to respiratory depression or cardiac failure.

If the injection practice is not clean then there is a risk of infection/ vein damage threw unsensible practices, HIV/Aids if the needles are shared with anyone who is infected. (DONT SHARE SYRINGES)

Addiction. if one would survive.

Well those are the same risks as from injecting heroin. Of course they are serious risks, but people do this every day and survive. If you get an appropriate dose, this doesn't really explain why it's more dangerous to inject alcohol. I'm not doubting that it is, just intrigued as to why.

Re: Alcohol IV QUESTION

SWIM has injected full 1CC syringes of peach brandy, jack daniels and a few others he can't name from memory. The idea was inspired by hearing someone talking about someone or some persons doing this is in the Motley Creu autobiography, the author of which SWIM knows personally.

SWIM did this a few times, a couple of which he'd try more than one shot in immediate succession.

SWIM noticed ZERO effects (and yes, knows exactly how to I.V. incject.) SWIM's COMPLETELY NON-MEDICAL opinion is that the practice is harmless. SWIM own personal experience is that it's completely pointeless and a total waste of time, not to mention possible dangerous from any deviation from perfect I.V. injection techniques.

Don't bother.

Re: Alcohol IV QUESTION

SWIj has been thinking about this thread.

IV ethanol is used in a medical context for treating triethylene glycol (brake fluid, anti-freeze type substance) poisoning. Of course this is sterile, medical grade alcohol.

SWIJ found this short communication...

http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/loc...=1846&catid=55

on intravenous alcohol outside of a medical setting.

SWIJ has to say that this method CANNOT be recommended. Her concerns would relate to a high blood alcohol level in a short period of time leading to a significant risk of alcohol poisoning. She would also be concerned about irritation plus/minus infection as a result of preservatives and sugars in the alcohol.

Just drink it please flamingos!

That's an interesting article. I see that out of the (admittedly small) sample of three IV alcohol users, all were unemployed and two were also homeless. This says a lot I think, and should make anyone contemplaying it think twice - it's certainly not a celebrity drug!

I also note that two out of the three mentioned the enjoyment of the needle as one of the attractions. As strange as it sounds, I knew an ex heroin user who still had a fixation with needles years after he'd kicked the smack habit. Even something the right shade of orange would get him excited, because orange was the cap colour for the insulin needles he used to use.

yeah steve o went on a 5 day pcp trip once it made for decent footage

but to the long life thing, i can sum up that up in one quote

"Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, Choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players, and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol and dental insurance. Choose fixed- interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisure wear and matching luggage. Choose a three piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing sprit- crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing you last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked-up brats you have spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that?"

Re: Alcohol IV QUESTION

Swim has done this before. Considering that your liver won't have the opportunity to properly filter the alcohol you certainly won't feel all that great. Swim wasn't hurt but experienced burning at the injection site for a short amount of time. I wouldn't recomend this to anyone though. It's a waste of time and a rig, and there is no guarantee of safety.

Re: The Injecting Alcohol Thread

Swim is abstaining from speed etc.

To cure the needle fixation Swim will occassionally shoot some sterile water here and there.

So the other night, out of curiousity, Swim shot a little Jack Daniels. Barely felt a thing. Swim is certainly not dead, nor fucked up. Waste of time.

Slight burning sensation, that's all. Oh well.

Some people like to shoot things, some people like to plug things, and some people like to snort things. Some people find it fun to seek new methods of administration. This is an interesting method of administration that I have never heard of.

Look, it's not an either-or choice. SWIY can have a long, healthy, happy, productive, drugs-in-moderation life without being your average bourgeois consumer twit.

Great book (and movie) tho.

I know a guy who I met in recovery who told us his story and he said many a time he has shot Jack Daniels whisky in his arm. We all always laugh when he would tell his past, I remember another person in our group saying
..... you have bridge the gap between Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotic Anonymous. funny shit He was from the alltime funniest town in California, Needles, Ca Addicts in Needles and Needles in Addicts

I am sure there are some people here that know exactly who Iam Talking About

Oh yeah the reason why he did was because all the coke in the cookie jar was gone
