Side effects - Kratom extract closing anyones throats?

Last week this guy obtained some powdered kratom and some 15x extract explained by his dealer to only be 3x the strength of the normal leaf actually. He had never had extract before and usually just spoons it in his mouth and washes it down. So he did this with half his normal dose with the extract. After awhile he noticed he couldn't swallow unless aided by food or drink. This was kinda scary, but didn't last long enough to bother him. It almost felt like the same numbing sensation kava gives so maybe his guy cut it with kava. He got 6 grams of it for free so he's not really bothered if it was cut. Cut kratom hahah what would the world be coming to. Anyway has this happened to anyone else? It's never happened to him with powder.

Kratom has local anesthetic effects.

Ok that would explain the numbing but the throat shutting and hard to swallow was the scarier part.

Swim does not know which sensation swiy is describing but Swim has noticed episodes of trying to swallow and it has been hard to initiate the swallowing sequence, which caused swim some anxiety. Swim started to carry a bottle of water to sip and that was very helpful. Swim also gets the same effect when on opiates in general. It only happens every once in a while and trying to nail it down is almost impossible.

It is a very uncomfortable problem and is hard to initiate it intentionally. Swim also takes other psychotropic drugs for bipolar disorder and has theorizes that it may be an interaction between the substances. Although it's very uncomfortable, swim is happy it doesn't happen very often.

Opiates slow GI motility and in high doses esophageal motility. Perhaps there is a local effect from high concentrations of kratom in the esophagus. Maybe if it is stirred into a bunch of water it will not do it ?

Could also partially be due to the reduced level of perceived sensations in that region. Swim finds that when his throat gets numbed it feels like it has closed up sometimes as he can barely feel things getting swallowed. If the Kratom actually does restrict the esophagus, this paired with the numbing sensation could make it feel very constricting.

Might also want to test it with friends with the same preparation and see what they think as allergies could be involved, which wouldn't be good for swiy's future Kratom consumption!
