Codeine and Turkish Tea

SWIM only registered to this forum to talk about Codeine and Tea interaction. SWIM finds it very interesting that nobody has said anything about tea being a strong potentiator of codeine. SWIM knows this fact because where he lives, everdybody talks about this. And it was the first thing he learned before he began to do codeine.

The effect is so strong and quick that one can almost feel the effect as he drinks from the cup.

SWIM is now also wondering if this effect is a result of Turkish Tea only. SWIM should add that he doesn't drink Lipton or those kind of western brands. But SWIM will try those brands just for research.

SWIM will keep researching on this subject. Maybe some of you may have an opinion about this subject. You let me know.

Best regards

Re: Codeine and Turkish Tea

Personally I think it's rubbish, but I won't discredit you as I've never drunk Turkish Tea!

I'd be very interested if you could look into this and post some factually-backed-up information, reverdy!

I look forward to reading it.

Re: Codeine and Turkish Tea

What's the difference between normal tea and Turkish tea? What do you know about Turkish tea that could possibly explain the phenomenon? Is there any unusual potentially active ingredient that is used?

Re: Codeine and Turkish Tea

Maybe the theanine potentiates the sedation of codeine and opiates in general. But the caffeine and theophylline could counteract it. Maybe it's an urban myth.

Re: Codeine and Turkish Tea

Can SWIY explain the procedure he follows when combining codeine and tea?

Like, preparation, dosage, order, set, mind-set and any other tip SWIY knows?

As both items (turkish tea and codeine) are available for SWIM, he won't mind experimenting and posting his opinion.

L-Theanine is reported to enhance compounds like phenibut, kava, and downers in genera (no scientific reference, only people's reports).

Re: Codeine and Turkish Tea

SWIM just waits for his codeine preperation . During the normal codeine extraction period SWIM steeps some tea (at this point SWIM doesn't really think it has got to do with Turkish Tea ) And as SWIM begins to get the first codeine buzz, SWIM slowly approaches the teapot and gently pours some nice tea.
SWIM drinks many cups of tea with codeine.
Sometimes, when a couple of hours passes after SWIM drinks his codeine extraction, SWIM thinks codeine buzz is gone for good for that night, and then SWIM drinks some more tea and can feel small amounts of buzz.

PS: I agree with the theanine theory. It must be it. Sorry for not giving scientific facts. But you can always try and see for yourself right?

PS2: maybe i am caught up in a placebo effect ( but i reallly really don't think so)

Re: Codeine and Turkish Tea

Swit tested this theory this morning and noticed no potentiation whatsoever. He still enjoyed his cup of tea though. Sorry to say, but Swit dismisses the theory...

Re: Codeine and Turkish Tea

Hey reverdy,
Does swir's codiene also come with caffiene? If so, the potentiation makes sense. SWIR is associating the caffiene and codiene together. The extra buzz is the resurgance of caffiene in swir's body.

Re: Codeine and Turkish Tea

Hmm SWIM is sorry to hear that tea didn't work out for you. SWIM wonders if it has anything to do with the dosage of codeine taken. SWIM hasn't done anything below 600mg for a long time. But that does't make much sense. It should potentiate anything, SWIM thinks. And also SWIM's codeine doesn't come with caffein so maybe it's time to dismiss this theory until someone comes up with some satisfying facts. Although SWIM will keep drinking tea.
Thanks for your replies. Take care!

Re: Codeine and Turkish Tea

swim is having some (Turkish Caykur Rize) tea with codeine as we speak, just because she felt like tea. and lo and behold here is this post. don't think there is a difference from the tea but can't really say as swim is has not been a regular user of codeine for some time now.

reverdy i am curious since when is codeine so big in Turkey? swim knew opiate use has gone up in the last few years but didn't know what people used, just mostly heard about heroin. is codeine avaiable without prescription?

Re: Codeine and Turkish Tea

Haha. It's not that big a hit in Turkey. But there are regular users like SWIM among youngsters. And SWIY know Ottomans had quite a history of opium use and maybe it's in the genes. Besides it's easier to find codeine then opium so that's why SWIM became regular user of codeine but not of opium. But SWIM likes opium better. SWIM wishes he had a stable source of it but he doesn't.
