New Music in 2007

Just wanted to say that I downloaded the new E-Royale 2CD sountrack and it's absolutely amazing. Some other really good stuff for you pleasure is: Hed Kandi's Glittering Mix, Emotional Technology, House Passion Vol. 4, Tube n' Berger: Lesson One, and Oxa: Remember Trance.

Super Executive Trance is misleading. It starts out very trancy (like the annoying 90s trance), but then really starts to groove about 10 minutes into it.

Re: New Music in 2007

The most recent Global Undergroung, Nick Warren in Paris, was a bit of a disappointment, especially after Shanghai. The first CD was very ambient. It had one or two moments but its not his style and it shows. And why bother in the first place? GU have the Afterhours series for ambience. Second CD was in the same vein. One or two good songs dont make it a worthwhile purchase. I just dont see what he was trying to do with it, where he was going. I\'d avoid it. Global Underground 031 is due pretty soon, Dubfire (from Deep Dish) in Taipei. Actually, its out today isnt it? I might pick it up tomorrow.

Re: New Music in 2007

I shall do that tomorrow Pingo...Thanks. And namoo, thank as well, but I have all that "old" stuff and, yes, it's classic and amazing.

We need to talk more about music. The soul of our lives!

Re: New Music in 2007

Tiesto has a new album out, Element of Life I think. Scanned the tracklist today, but I only recognised two. \"Dance4Life\" (which I like, but others dont) and \"Hes a Pirate\", which is pretty damn bad. Bad start, but I will hold judgement till I hear it all.

You should check it out. I share the opinion of this guy on "trance". Most of it is sickening cookie cutter crap. It used to be good but pauze-climax anthem-trance killed everything. Just like their beer, the Dutch made it bland and now it sells in the millions.

Some related genres and subgenres are good though.

Re: New Music in 2007

I think Dutch trance gets a bad rap. It does what it says on the tin. If you love music enough to appreciate it, then dont listen to Dutch trance. If you are a pill popping, hardcore cheese-monger then its the genre for you. Personally, sure there are times when I love the old school hypnotism to proper trance or (insert dance genre here), but I do still think there is such a thing as good euphoric trance.

Yeah I know, to each his own. I
was saying Dutch trance gives all trance a bad rap.

Re: New Music in 2007

I guess that depends on where you stand with Tiesto. While he was the catalyst of this most recent pop-trance epidemic, real trance aficionados will tell you the genre was dead long before him. Is there any more real trance being produced? I think that, while most new genres spawn from another then rename themselves, trance should do the opposite. Classic trance should rename itself and surrender the T word to Ferry Corsten and his ilk. As for Tiesto, I guess he birthed this \"new trance\", because he was just that fucking good. Dont blame him because his prodigy were too stupid (or loved-up) to think of a new name for themselves.

Re: New Music in 2007

Just picked up the new Global Underground 031 - Dubfire in Taipei. I think its pretty good. Its kind of.... prog techno, but better then that, more accessible. For instance, I enjoyed it and I am not usually into techno. Plus, Dubfire is a man for his kareoke, so there are a lot of vocals, which I like if they are done well, which for the most part they are. Then again, after 030 - Nick Warren in Paris - I was prepped for another disappointment, so it probably wouldnt have taken much to please me.
