Re: GBL and 1,4 B: 'new evidence' on date rape prompts call for drugs ban
I see what you are saying but it doesn't really present anything of substance in defending the call to ban GBL. Said seedy raver would probably find it hard to pick out those who are losing the plot on G from those who are stumbling around incoherently from alcohol.
Teenagers tend to get pretty wankered on their nights out, whatever their drug of choice. Opportunistic rape is just that, an act that occurrs because the perpetrator sees an opporunity to carry it out. This could be some teen overcome by either G *or* alcohol.

Re: GBL and 1,4 B: 'new evidence' on date rape prompts call for drugs ban
SWIM thinks vcdman has a point. In the party scene swim used to be in there were many people who would never have contemplated this sort of thing before they started using GBL . After being in this scene and seeing people passing out on a regular basis it wouldn't take long before they realised that they could intentionally give someone too much so that they could take advantage of them. SWIM has heard of this happening to males as well as females, and not only for sexual purposes but also to steal a persons money or drugs.
This is why people need to know what drug they are taking and how it works. This is why harm reduction information is so important to drug users, though most don't take the time to learn about a drug before taking it. Obviously the government would rather spend their time and money on removing supply and on victim support than harm reduction education, which is why sites like drugs-forum are essential for getting this sort of information out to the drug using community. The government and anti-drug organizations have a lot to learn from places like this, if only they too would take the time to learn about and understand the drugs that they so strongly fight against.
