Re: Prozac, is it worth it?

I'm not familiar with prozac but i've been on paroxetine which is the same type of drug. I myself got good results but there is a price to pay. It sorted out many of my problems which were related to social phobia/anxiety not really depression. I worked like a charm and helped me a lot, but once I stopped, old symptoms returned. It is not a cure, it is a symptoms cover. Also you have this feeling of not being good for your body. Physical side effects are annoying, moreso when it come to sex-life.

I don't regret having taken it and in my situation then was a life-saver. I wouldn't take it again though, cause my social life has improved and don't see the need.

A simple, very subjective answer to your question: NO.

Re: Prozac, is it worth it?

I disagree. Prozac (fluoxetine) helped me. Practically saved my life. Gave me the focus and energy to pick myself up from a severe depression.

Now I wish to come off it, though, as I've reach a moderately stable phase in my life.

But, all in all, I'm glad I've done Prozac. Probably wouldn't be here without it.

Re: Prozac, is it worth it?

Oh yes prozac is definately a life saver! I have been on it for years on and off.

6 months on 6 months off, I was a seriously depressed young women with phychosis and delutions without drugs! I was unable to function, my mind was a terrible world to be in. (before my experiments with the odd drug) I do respect it as i'm free of major depression, def recomend it for anyone who needs to balance those brain chemicals.
