Help with comming off opiates

SWIM is trying to come off MS Contin. SWIM has been taking between 350mg and 650mg per day for several months. Is it safe for SWIM to stop this medication suddenly? ALso any tips to ease withdrawal?

No, it's would not be safe to drop off suddenly. If possible swiy needs to tapor down, safely, but quickly. Swip recomends making a daily plan, and sticking to it. Withdrawls are going to hurt, cause anxiety, sickness, and worse... but is worth it once swiy gets their habbit under control.

Perhaps swiy could use this schedule to taper down ...

First 2 days- 450mg
Next 2 days- 380mg
Next 2 days- 320mg
Next 2 days- 250mg
Next 2 days- 180mg
Next 2 days- 100mg
Next 2 days- 40mg
Next 2 days- 10mg if needed
skip a few days...

This quick schedule will cause much pain... but wouldn't be as bad as just stoping cold turkeys. Those kind of doses are high and swiy's body is no doubt very physicaly dependant on the opiates. quiting cold trukey could cause serious damage.

swims speant a lot of time in jail and seen many people go cold turkey and its not as yummy as it sounds,folly pink's scheadual and youll feel alot better or talk to a docktorabout starting suboxone treatment its much qicker and better then methadone

Holy Good God, that is some monster of a habit swiy has there, I agree that is a much too big of a dose to go cold turkey. The taper plans do work, but swiy has to MAKE them work. It is hard when one day all you want is just one last high - everyone knows this does not work, and will lead back to full use. If you want it bad enough the taper is the best way to go.
