Purity - cleaning ecstasy pills via a simple acetone wash

This is a thread that SWIM previously wrote on another forum. However, the results are remarkable to say the least! SWIM feels as though he has perfected the art of cleaning cocaine, so he thought he'd take a turn at ecstasy this time around. Enjoy!....................

As most of you are probably aware, SWIM wrote the "cocaine purification......the absolute final thread" thread in OD. Well, SWIM's decided to diversify and play my hand at cleaning ecstasy. Good news, it works! And it works really, really well!

Last night SWIM took some yellow Louis Vuittons and they felt like anything other than pure MDMA, though they certainly tested well for it with the EZ Extreme. Afterwards, SWIM could only attribute the experience to that of MDE, though SWIM really didn't know for sure. The problem, as most of you are aware, is that there is no test to differentiate between MDMA and MDE. And the problem with that is that one of those two is great while the other is, well, crap!

All day long SWIM was going back and forth wondering if it was indeed MDE or perhaps caffeine, seeing as how there's no test for that either. After agonizing over it for hours, SWIM decided to perform a simple anhydrous (water free) acetone wash on 4 pills. Caffeine is entirely soluble in acetone while MDMA is not. Therefore, you'll simply be rinsing the caffeine right off of your pills, or I guess powder at this point.

Well low and behold, these previous pills, now turned powder that SWIM thought might be MDE last night has been turned into nothing less than the smoothest, most beautiful molly type of MDMA high SWIM had in a very, very long time.

Like SWIM said, SWIM crushed up 4 pills and then washed them in acetone. The result was about 1/2 of what SWIM originally put in, but that's because there's no more fillers, binders, caffeine or a host of other nasty byproducts.

SWIM is doing this shit right now and it is nothing like last night. And this is back to back nights as well!

SWIM's been doing E since it was legal and SWIM will tell you, this is as good as it gets folks! That, and it's so easy to perform a small child could do it. If nothing else, it will drastically help to clean your pills of byproducts, binders and fillers, some of which cause stomach discomfort etc.

Let's put it this way: SWIM WILL NEVER DO A PILL AGAIN UNTIL HE CLEANS IT FIRST! There's just way to much, who knows what, in these pills nowdays to not do it. Personally, SWIM is going to do an anhydrous acetone wash followed by a cold water extraction on all my pills from now on. The same pills SWIM took two nights ago vs. the same cleaned up one's SWIM took last night are so far apart it's like a whole different drug! And that's in a good way. Did SWIM also state that when they were dirty he had stomach cramps? But absolutely none after cleaning them. So what does that tell ya? Well, you've got everything to gain and nothing to lose, that's all..............

Okay, SWIM says it's getting pretty hard to still read the screen, but he'll continue on as best he can. He is a soldier!

SWIM will outline below how to make hardware store acetone anhydrous by the use of epsom salts turned anhydrous magnesium sulphate with heating. But may SWIM strongly suggest that you just skip that and simply order lab grade anhydrous acetone via a chemical supply company. It's much better quality and it's not that expensive either. Nor is it a watched item. SWIM would order a 1 liter bottle, it's all you'll need for awhile.

If not, you can make simple hardware/home store acetone anhydrous with the following directions:

When using 4 tabs as the control, take a tall shot glass or a 50 ml. glass beaker and fill it to 20 ml.s with anhydrous acetone. If you don't have anhydrous acetone, simply go to Home Depot, Menards, or Lowes and purchase a 1 liter can of acetone in the paint section. Also grab a bag of epsom salts. When you get home, spread some epsom salts out onto an aluminum covered baking sheet. Bake the salt for 2 hours at 400 degrees F. At the two hour mark, you should now have a greyish looking ash, better known as anhydrous magnesium sulphate. Scrap up about 15-20 grams of the magnesium sulphate ash and pour it directly into the can of hardware store acetone. Once it's all in, replace the lid and shake vigorously for about 5 minutes. This will insure that the magnesium sulphate has completely absorbed any and all of the water/alcohol that's in the hardware store acetone. Let stand for 24 hours to insure that all of the mag. sulphate has fully absorbed all of the water/alcohol and has thus sunk to the bottom of the can.

Now, never pour from the can again. We want that pile of goo, now at the bottom of the can, to stay there. So therefore, use a glass eye dropper to get down inside of the container to extract the acetone. Pour 20 ml.s of anhydrous acetone into a 50 ml. beaker and add your finely chopped pills, now powder, into the acetone. Stir thoroughly for about 2-3 minutes. Cover and let settle. Let the acetone on top become clear while the molly crystals lay directly on the bottom while the few acetone insoluble and flat looking cuts lay directly on top of the crystals. Once settled, carefully pour out the acetone and the flat looking cut that wants to pour out as easily as the acetone, stoping just short of any actual MDMA crystals falling out with them into a filter. Cover the filter and repour 10 more ml.s of fresh acetone into the original beaker still containing your mostly MDMA crytals with a little residual flat powder stuck to the side from the original pour. Cover and let settle. Once again, carefully try and pour into the original filter, just the flat powder looking substance stoping just short of the crystals. This time, you should have at least 98% pure MDMA crytals left in the beaker, and just a trace of powder still, if any.

Remove, but don't throw away the original filter paper. Replace with a fresh new filter paper, swirl the final washing and pour the entire contents into the new filter paper. Cover. Pour a little fresh acetone into the beaker to gather any remaining crystals and pour them into the fillter paper. Cover and let drain thoroughly. Remove and press the filter paper containing the nearly pure MDMA crystals in between a few paper towels to absorb any excess acetone. Preferably leave inside of the filter paper and let air dry in a non-humid environment for at least 48 hours. Open, crush up, pour the newly cleaned MDMA crystals into 120 mg.s capsules, drop and enjoy!

Once finished and desperate for more, take the original filter paper containing mostly cuts along with the few MDMA crystals that fell thru with the original pours and crush the mixture up thoroughly. Pour the entire contents onto one side of a wax coated paper plate. Take the plate in your hands and tilt it slightly towards you with the pile at the top. From underneath, gently tap on the pile and the crystals will pop out of and fall directly down the plate towards you. Stop tapping when the powder starts to fall with the crystals. Gather the crystals and put them on a seperate plate. Push the entire pile back to the top and keep repeating this tedious process for about 10-15 minutes until every last crystal has been seperated. Discard the powder, pour the crystals into 120 mg. capsules, drop and enjoy.........again!

SWIM would like clarification. So, step 1 is to purchase anhydrous acetone, take the pills to be "cleansed" and powderize them, then soak the powder in the acetone right? How long, and what happens to the acetone? Does it evaporate? Does swiy have to let the powder sit and dry out? Does swiy have to filter the "fillers, binders" etc out of the acetone wash to leave clean, untainted MDMA? Once the acetone is gone, any remaining material is safe for ingesting correct?

LOL thanks guys. unconsciously, SWIM skipped the last few paragraphs believing it was a long explanation on how to make the anhydrous acetone, not the rest of the explanation on the actual wash! luckily it was SWIM, and not the person speaking for him .

So, SWIM assumes MDE is also soluble in the acetone? Or, are all of the SWIMs still stuck with the problem of getting bunk MDE sold as MDMA? SWIY mentioned what you THOUGHT was MDE was purified into molly. Could it have just been caffeine?

And I guessed "molly" is the term for pure MDMA crystals, I assume thats right .

I think we're finally on the same page now..........I think, anyway. Yes, at first I thought it was either MDE or possibly caffeine. I only specualted it might have been MDE due to the lack of love and empathy etc. However, after cleaning the adulterated pills, I found that the pills were infact MDMA, simply masked by common adulterants. And no, MDE is not soluble in acetone, but as it turns out, they didn't actually contain any in the first place. End of story! Night, night.

Nice work man . SWIM is going to be using this on his next roll(rave in 2 weeks). However, it should be pointed out that this will not separate out MDA/MDE from MDMA, nor will it remove other amphetamines. And my best guess is that it will not remove PMA, unfortunately.

Does anyone know of a way to separate these substances?

Yeah, I can! You can either use 99% isopropanol alcohol or 95%, 190 proof ethanol and perform an extraction. It must be noted that this will not seperate MDE or MDA from MDMA as those are very closely related and seperation of the two would involve much more advanced equipment such as GC/MS just to get started.

However, amphetamine can be easily washed out with an MDMA extraction using one of the two above mentioned alcohols. MDMA is soluble in the two alcohols while it takes 515 ml.s of either one just to dissolve 1 gram of amphetamine. With this number on our side, we can simply dissolve a gram or more of your amphetamine adulterated MDMA in 20 ml.s of 99% isopropanol alcohol. Stir for a minute or two, filter thru a medium flow filter paper (a must for this procedure), and then let drain onto an awaiting glass Pyrex dish. Once all of the alcohol/MDMA has drained thru, add about 10 more ml.s of fresh isopropanol alcohol to the filter to collect any remaining MDMA that may have permiated the filter paper. Once completely drained, fold the filter paper over and squeeze firmly to squeeze out any excess alcohol/MDMA and onto the Pyrex dish. Evaporate the alcohol off by use of a hot blow dryer. Once all of the liquid has evaporated off, let the crystals form on their own overnight. By morning you'll have a sweet tasty surprise awaiting you!

Do you think that 91% ispropyl alcohol would work? If not, the epsom salt water extraction should work just as well to remove the moisture from isopropyl alcohol, right?

The 99% isopropyl alcohol is the recommended solvent according to the Merke index. I don't think I'd attempt to deviate from such a reliable source as that.

My pet gopher tried this but unfortunately he did not have any filter paper to use so resorted to using coffee filters. However what happened as what he said is that none of the filler rose to the surface and all that happened was the 95% Ethanol (rubbing alcohol from store) changed into the color of the crushed up pill. After 5 washes the alcohol stopped changing colors and my gopher decided to give up and poured the remaining substance onto a plate and let it dried for 48 hours.
Anyone have any idea how my pet gopher can succeed at this?

Absolutely not! Ethanol is not rubbing alcohol, but isopropyl alcohol is. 190 proof, 95% ethanol can be purchased from most any U.S. liquor store in what is called Everclear liquor. It comes in either a 5th or a half gallon size bottle. But read the lable carefully as they make two different proofs, a 190 and a 150. You must have the 190 proof, 95% for this process. Everclear is illegal in about 10 different U.S. states, so some will not be able to access this liquor. Everclear liquor made it's claim to fame for being the nearly tasteless, yet extremely potent liquor used at college fraternity parties in a punch made in large, plastic bag lined trash cans called, "Harry Buffalo Parties". Those that consumed the punch had absolutely no idea of just how much alcohol they were actually consuming due to it's lack of taste.

Okay, enough on the history lessons. The alcohol you'll need is 190 proof, 95% ethanol alcohol, and not isopropyl. And no, the process is not the same as the acetone wash, as the ethanol will dissolve your MDMA while leaving the cuts left behind in the low flow filter paper. The acetone cleaning is called a "wash", and the ethanol cleaning is called an "extraction".

99% iso-Propanol (isopropyl alcohol) is commonly used in many applications. Many drug stores stock it, or can order it for one. Or hunting about will bear fruit. It makes a good lens cleaner for photographic instruments - for example.

A friend of mine would like to know if anyone had any recommendation on what type of filters to use, would coffee filters work? He would also like to know if things like 2C-I/B and ketamine are soluble in acetone

Coffee filters, no. And as far as other adulterants go, only caffeine and amphetamine are removable for now, plus just the basic whole cleansing of the pills in general.

Try and do a Google, Yahoo or another search engine for solubilities of 2-CB, ketamine and whatever else your curious about. Once you find out, please do share!

1. Swim was wondering if the substance extracted with acetone would be safe to snort, I'm guessing it would be as Swim usually snorts plain crushed pills but after soacked in acetone swim thought it may be safer to let the powder go through the stomach first.

2. Where do you get proper filters, Swim dont know what they are called, just not coffee filters. Swim try to find proper filters for codine extraction with no luck.

Go online and do a search for chemical supply/chemistry supply companies. You'll be needing 15 cm. wide, medium flow filter papers. If your calling or ordering online from a chemistry supply company anyway, you may as well go ahead and get yourself all the other right equipment such as a couple 50 ml. glass beakers, a couple 100 ml. glass beakers, a couple 6 inch glass stir rods, the filter papers, of course, and anything else you might be needing.......

hey LE Junk swim has a question for ya.. when you did your acetone wash bout what percent of the pill actually came back? like was it only bout 40 % mdma? because swim is into pure powder he doesnt like the speedy stuff he just likes a nice hardcore roll for a few hours and alot of the stuff running around is pretty junky lately. But swim was just curious about that because he is able to get ahold of some pills for really really cheap and he was curious bout trying that wash to see how it works out and maybe he'll just do that instead of searching for pure powder all the time. thanks for your help LE Junk swim appericates it
