Talking swims battle with cocaine addiction...

swim went into treatment for addiction and swim is very, very happy to say that he has been coke free for 48 days....

swim would like to remind all swiy's, that coke can grabe hold of ya fast and it can be tough to stop using..

swim suggests not to even bother with cocaine. swim does not believe it is worth the problems it causes....

that is this swim's 2 cents worth of advice.

but be who you want to be..and if swiy needs help. get help..

anyways, glade to be back.....
have a good day all...

Re: swims battle with addiction...

swim also just got out of drug treatment and has been crack/coke free for close to 3 months now....swim had a $300 daily habit that lasted about 4 years until he decided it was time to get help....swim lost most of his friends and family and in the latter days just wanted to be left alone in his room with his rocks in one hand and pipe in other....swim knows all it takes is one relapse and he'll be back to square one...Nowadays swim is happy with life and being drug free. There is help out there whenever you decide its time to stop...You go to rehab, learn the 12 steps to living a sober life, get a sponser,go to meetings, and take it one day at a time.

Re: swims battle with addiction...

Being completely cocaine free has to be the best solution if a person really wants to be clean.

Still there is a new compound being tested for cocaine dependancy: Vanoxerine

It may be of interest, especially if it works and gets past stage III trials. [Please remember at this stage it is unknown whether or not its any good]

[Edit: I'm leaving this post in but clinical trials for vanoxerine were halted after it was found to cause QT elongation - Dickon]

Re: swims battle with addiction...

bromocryptine (dostinex in the market) was used to treat cocaine addiction

there are numerous reports that some "prefer the sides of cocaine to bromocryptine" lol so its anybodies guess.

SWIM has used bromo in a sports/bodybuilding enviroment and downright HATED IT.

couple that with the possible permenant short term memmory problems it could cause and cold turkey cut off sounds prety damn nice

Re: swims battle with addiction...

Well done to all who have kicked the habit. It's not easy.

SWIM had a bad problem with doing quite a lot of speed, coke and xtc every weekend and sometimes during the week.

But now SWIM has gone from doing it weekly to doing xtc once in the last 15 months and having not touched coke or xtc in the last 15 months

Re: swims battle with addiction...

epote, I guess it works like this, twice a month, to weekends only, then maybe friday then during the week occasionally, then, during the week, and every weekend which the turns to a daily use. Its very easy to get hooked. sometimes you think youre in control but you are completely not. longest run Ive seen SWIM off coke is 6 months in the last 5 years, he is going to try and beat that run ...this time.
Its the triggers though, the damn triggers that makes ya crave it, damn horrible stuff, totally not worth the trouble, in the end the fun is outweighed by the cost, pleasure and the recovery. cost to get high rises, pleasure falls and recovery gets longer ! SWIM says stay away from it, the only thing that SWIM says is any good is the very first hit...from then on its rubbish.

Re: swims battle with addiction...

SWIM suggests people would stay off cocaine. Not only does it screw people up, it also supports a multi-billion criminal industry with loads of people kicking the bucket annually because of cocaine-related crimes.

Re: swims battle with addiction...

I agree with: It doesn't matter how long one has not used, that can change in an instant. You can stay away from the stuff or anybody who has it and you can do this for 20 years and then one day slip up..

A long time ago Swim was finally heroine- and methadone -free for more then 7 months and she did not feel the slightest physical discomfort at the time, so there was no need whatsoever to go scoring again.
However, one day Swim just walked out the door and went straight to her dealer instead of buying some groceries like she'd planned. Swim felt like hypnotised. It was as simple as that. Something pushed her to her dealer instead of to some healthy cabbages. And once she had used some H she immediatley remembered why she got hooked in the first place.
Swim had a job and close friends and felt very happy at the time. So Swim didn't have a clue as to why she suddenly did this out of the blue.

Swim also knows many other people that stayed off heroine or cocaine for over 3 years but somehow almost all of them started using again eventually...

Swim managed to get off heroine but admits that opiods will always be her weak point. So Swim is very careful not to make the slightest slip up because Swim knows that will definitely be the end of it for her. So far Swim is still doing fine..
