Are there any physically addictive psychedelics?

I understand that LSD and weed are not physically addictive, and niether are shrooms I believe. Also, I think very little mental addiction can arise when each trip lasts for more than 6 hours, there's little desire for another one so soon.

Are all psychedelics like this? I assume that DMT would be more mentally addictive as the experience is so short, but are there any psychedelic drugs that can become physically addictive, like heroin or meth?

Re: Are there any physically addictive psychedelics?

No psychededelic drugs are not physically addictive. DMT is strong and short but it does not mean people have a better chance of becoming dependant on it , the experience is meant to be so strong that when one has had their experience they are generally satisfied and dont re-use for quite a while. There will always be a people out there who will abuse anything and everything....including psychedelic's....but pyhsical addiction does not occur. In fact many people have kicked drug addictions through the use of certain psychedelic's ..... ayahuasca, ibogaine etc .

Swim has not had any experience with it, but he understands that ketamine has the potential for physical addiction. This is the only psychedelic that he knows of with physical addiction potential, perhaps somebody can elaborate.

Ketamine does have potential for mental addiction but not physical addiction.

Ketamine indeed has a potential for addiction, but it is not a psychedelic. It is a disassociative (sp?) drug.

Maybe mdma? Mdma is a psychedelic and swim was told it has a potential for abuse.

Re: Are there any physically addictive psychedelics?

MDMA is not classified as a psychedelic - except the Einsteins in the DEA call it a hallucinogen. MDMA is properly classified as being an entactogenic: Brings feelings from deep in the psyche to the surface.

Re: Are there any physically addictive psychedelics?

I've always wondered exactly what a psychedelic is.

Anyhoo... The closest addiction you're gonna get with psychedelics is the pleasure you get from them.
