Health - Celexa CITALOPRAM: Adverse Effects and Interactions?

I was on Effexor XR and worked up from 37.5mg to 150mg a day and my doc is having me tapper down, mainly due to the cost and my ins will not cover a non generic med and im not paying 300 dollars a month for 30 pills ...

I am not on Celexa 20mg, im still tapering down and only have 3 days left on 37.5 effexor before my taper is done and the last 3 days ive cut my celexa in half and was taking 10mg and the effexor and didn't have any neg side affects.

ok enough of my current 2 week history, now my questions and some more history of SWIM. ..


SWIM is also taking, Kadian 30mg time release which he normally crushes up and takes either by insufflation , and tried rectal administration as well as oral but since morphine is more bioavailable insufflated and rectally is desired.

SWIM is also taking Hydro/Oxycodone a couple times a week to keep tollerence levels down, taken orally for the most part, SWIM also has scripts for everything listed above for a workcomp injury.

so now that SWIM is taking Celexa, what should he know about it. SWIM wants to know if there is complications with anythingelse, like what was listed above. SWIM is also a daily cannabis user ,a legal user of cannabis and hasn't felt any neg affects, SWIM did notice neg affects with cannabis and Effexor XR only during the first two weeks it would spike SWIMS blood pressure.

SWIM worries about SSRI's and feels like they can be much more dangerous if abused so SWIM has never abused them and takes them for depression/aniexity disorders.

SWIM did a search for Celexa/Citalopram and did not come up with many results and much info at all.

Shows there's a lot of bad SSRI's out there, doesn't it. Making users paranoid. Exactly what they shouldn't be....

SWIM was prescribed 20mg per day of Citalopram but was only on it for a couple days because she felt absolutely wretched on the stuff. It had her throwing up and spaced out and this was only from two doses!

She realised at the time that she could have eventually probably found a brand that suited her better; but she didn't want to risk going through similar side effects during the trial and error period. She came to the rapid conclusion that she didn't really need to be on anti-depressants that badly and is glad she stuck with her decision.

Others might find it helpful though; perhaps if SWIM had really needed it, her body wouldn't have rejected it so violently.

I have found my Oxycontin to be the best anti-deppresant I have ever had, the others are all a bunch of dangerous crap ( in my unproffesional opnion!)

Swim was on Celexa 40mg for 2 months, but didn't enjoy the side effects that came with the medication. Swim experienced erectile dysfunction, decrease in libido, increase in hunger, better sleep, less energy, and an improved mood. Sure, an increase in serotonin is nice, but not worth the side effects swim thought, so he just stopped taking it completely and feels fine! Don't take SSRI's for too long, swim says. It could have some permanent side effects that are just going to be a hassle... It doesn't matter what kind of SSRI you get, they selectively inhibit the re uptake of serotonin, that's great and all but if you're looking for energy, don't want to feel like a vegetable(short term memory and long term can be affected by these) and don't want to take viagra at a premature age, then don't take SSRI's swim advises!!
