Music For Trips
Firstly I have no idea if this is out of place, as this section of the site is pretty badly organised atm.
Just a quick tip - For those of you who have never heard them, consider listening to some incubus songs for trips... Battlestar Scralatchtica is good, magic medecine, and pretty much all songs off fungus humungous are good for shroom or lsd trips. Also, the mellower works of joe satriani are fantastic for chillin to while high on weed. Finally, don't laugh, Tchaikovsky is fantastic for opiate use. Try some pieces from Swan Lake Ballet. They are fantastically beautiful. I lied, that wasn't finally. And finally... http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/loc...id=136&lpage=1 for art. I can't be bothered to put this shit in the right place as I don't bother with this part of the site much, so mods feel free to move stuff into the right sections as I want those looking for this sort of info to be able to find it. Re: Music For Trips
Depending on what kind of atmosphere you want:
Ecstatic synthetic: Tangerine Dream(!), Ray Manzarek (yeah, you know, formerly of The Doors, check out his new stuff, wow, still feel the Doors vibe some in there, but also so much more technical intricacy!) general trippy: Entheogenic, Future Sound of London (especially their latest albums), Chemical Brothers nasty-sexual: Lords of Acid, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult trippy-political: Nephlim Modulation Systems Peace and Divinity Baudeaux Machs |

Back in the 60s, there were numerous bands who made songs specifically to be listened to while Tripping.
Aside from the Grateful Dead and Jimi Hendrix, there is the Original Trippin' song: "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" . . . this sucker is over 17 minutes long, and can take you through many different worlds along the way. |

Re: Music For Trips
Recently, SWISven has been favoring "Play Pause Stop" by the Benevento/Russo Duo for those silly chemical-induced times. Particularly DXM. You Enjoy Myself is very nicely covered by the Duo in a lot of concert recordings. "Home Again" by the Disco Biscuits is a very nice, relaxing trip aid, as well as Brazilian Girls, pretty much any song on either album.

Re: Music For Trips
KMFDM is a good industrial group which gets better every album. A typical song from KMFDM has many different types of sound occurring at once - in that SWIY wouldn't usually even notice many of them unless SWIY is tripping. SWIM has found DXM to be particularly mind-blowing with KMFDM.
Infected Mushroom is of course one group that's good for tripping in general. It's mainstream techno and is therefore also good for larger gatherings. Orbital, too, is another pretty amazing mainstream techno group from what SWIM has heard himself and what he hears from others. SWIM just finished downloading Infected Mushroom's discography and plans to listen to the songs he hasn't heard yet for the first time while under the influence of Substance X. The discography of Orbital, too, he plans to listen to for the first time ever while tripping once he finishes its download. SWIM will report back after he finishes his testing of these groups over the weekend. |

Re: Music For Trips
SWIM prefers alot of pink floyd, the grateful dead, ozric tentacles.
The absolute best though is the Infrared Roses album from the Grateful Dead. Put on some animation and let that cd be the soundtrack. Its simply amazing! |

Re: Music For Trips
Infected mushroom is excellent. Shpongle is good, except it sometimes gets very frightening. Put on the disc "Nothing Lasts" and play the whole way though- both rewarding and terrifying at times.

Re: Music For Trips
The song "Carnival of Animals" by Camille Saint-Saens is great (the introduction). If you haven't heard of it, it was the song from the beginning of "Beauty and the Beast." It's a little creepy but very beautiful.

Re: Music For Trips
Kind of rehashing Svenghalis suggestion, but DMT (Divine Moments of Truth) by Shpongle is always top of SwiMs list.
