Re: SWIM's Diphenhydramine experiences
Hmm sounds like a typical diphenhydramine experience. One thing SWIM has always enjoyed about the substance is the auditory sensations.Music becomes fascinating, one picks up things in their favorite music they usually wouldn't notice sober or on even lsd!It is a truly dark and eerie experience like a waking dream or waking nightmare in some cases and without out a doubt one of the more unusual and exotic highs.

Re: SWIM's Diphenhydramine experiences
SWIM's latest and probably last experience with diphenhydramine was a scary one. SWIM got bored one day, and could not get a hold of any drugs worth doing, so he resorted to the bottle of Benadryl under his bed. He took 400 mg, which was a normal dosage for SWIM, and not too intense. SWIM was having an alright time with the diphenhydramine. He was having minor hallucinations in the dark, and the music sounded great. Approx. 4-5 hours later, the experience got bad. When SWIM finally tried to go to sleep, he felt something crawling on him, well he thought. SWIM should mention he experiences elevated anxiety while Benadrilled up. When he turned on the light, he saw bugs crawling all over his bed. This kept up for about another 4 hours. SWIM was so scared of the bug hallucinations, that he will most likely never take that much diphenhydramine ever again.

Re: SWIM's Diphenhydramine experiences
I've had that. Where you hear the music so clearly as if it's real. In the middle of this past year I was listening to a lot of Tool and one night I turned it off ready to go to bed and I could hear it playing to the point where I checked my computer again to make sure it was off and then figured, well, maybe my neighbours are listening to it downstairs ( which I now realize they weren't) but yes, it's like an imprint.

Re: SWIM's Diphenhydramine experiences
In my friend Swim's limited experience, diphenhydramine seems to be the most random drug. He has experienced full hallucinations on 250mg and next to nothing on 500mg (which was months later). I think it depends a great deal on what vitamins, electrolytes, and god knows what else is in one's system. He once took 300mg with no effects at all; he thinks it may have been because he took a rolaids just half an hour after the diphen dose.
Staying well hydrated has always been a priority for him; he thinks this (GOOD) practice might damage the "trip" as well. He was drunk when he got serious hallucinations from 250mg. He strongly advises against this combo, by the way - he was feeling self-destructive at the time. I think all this is evidence that the "recreational" aspects of this chemical come entirely from the toxic aspects. If one has enough of the right stuff in one's body, the toxic effect is fought off efficiently and one gets no trip. This is in direct contrast to every other psychedelic or dissociative chemical he has tried. ECL |

No! Not Another Diphenhydramine Experience Thread!
I'm hoping to shed some light on the more subtle and less talked about aspects of a Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride "trip".
I'm considering collating all of my Diphen knowledge, SWIM's Diphen experiences, and other interested members' knowledge, to create an uber-informative article for those interested in using Diphen recreationally. Anybody wishing to help is asked to post here and tell me what information they could bring to the article. Please note I'm looking for experiences, pharmacology details, pros and cons of use and even personal opinions. I hope Alfa won't mind me doing this (I'm aware he already has his own Diphen experiences thread). I want something a little different, hoping for a slightly more scientific debate rather than purely "oh fuck this shit scared the pants off me" posts. I want times to be as accurate as possible, and won't accept experiences where dosage is unknown. I'll start off with my mate SWIM's most recent Diphen experience. I have chosen to record all information under set sub-headings for ease of comparison. Cognitive effects are effects which the drug has on one's brain and thinking skills. Motor effects are movement effects, visual and auditory are hallucinations and audio hallucinations. OVERVIEW: I have scored the experience with intensity rating - a measurement of the overall strength, and bad/good -with 1 being bad and 10 being good. INTENSITY: 6/10 GOOD/BAD: 4/10 STATS DOSE: 250mg USER AGE: 19 FORM: 5 x 50mg Sleep-Aid tablets, with Diphen as only active ingredient. EXPERIENCE COGNITIVE EFFECTS: Thought trains stopped dead half-way. For example, SWIM looked at his phone and realised he's forgotten to set his alarm. After staring blankly at the phone for well over 3 minutes, SWIM puts the phone down and stares at a wall instead. Approximately an hour later SWIM remembers to set the alarm on his phone. SWIM also had trouble talking. Tongue seemed to be unable to produce certain sounds, in particular 'd' sounds. MOTOR EFFECTS: SWIM's balance was totally disturbed. Standing up was made almost impossible, as SWIM was convinced he weighed 1000 Kg! Most successful stand-ups were followed by falling over. Objects also appeared to be a lot closer than they actually were. VISUAL EFFECTS: Bright lights made SWIM feel terrible. Nothing spectacular, aside from the odd trail or two. Much fun was had with a laser pointer. AUDITORY EFFECTS: These were the most prominent effects of the drug. SWIM heard several people calling his name, and due to the cognitive effects, it sometimes took him a long time to figure out that nobody was calling him. Usually SWIM had responded to the non-existent entity by the time he realised he was alone. Certain insignificant sounds -such as SWIM's central heating switching on - felt louder and sometimes sounded like distant voices. OTHER: Overall the experience was unpleasant, while not particularly scary. The whole experience was made ten times worse by the frequent and overwhelming need to urinate, coupled with the difficulty in moving. This wasn't a particularly high dose, but still enough to be really quite unpleasant. Last edited by Micklemouse; 07-03-2007 at 09:40. |

Re: The Diphenhydramine Experience Thread: Please Post Experiences Here
OVERVIEW:
I have scored the experience with intensity rating - a measurement of the overall strength, and bad/good -with 1 being bad and 10 being good. INTENSITY: 8/10 GOOD/BAD: 1/10 STATS DOSE: 450mg USER AGE: 19 FORM: 9 x 50mg Sleep-Aid tablets, with Diphen as only active ingredient. EXPERIENCE COGNITIVE EFFECTS: Very few noticeable effects. This may in itself be an effect as SWIM at the time would have had no idea of what is normal. As usual, SWIM found speaking considerably difficult. MOTOR EFFECTS: This time SWIM could not stop his mouth moving involuntarily, and this was irritating. When he became thirsty, he attempted to drink some water to counteract the cottonmouth, and found it near impossible. SWIM knows this probably won't make sense to anybody, but it felt as if his throat muscles were too far apart to push anything down. Anytime SWIM tried to drink or eat something, his mouth tended to do exactly the opposite of what he wanted it to do. SWIM as always felt as if incredible weights were attached to his whole body, and as always found that standing up was incredibly difficult and also quite dangerous due to the risk of falling. This time, SWIM felt an effect he has never experienced before. This time, SWIM noticed that when he lay, sat or stood still for more than few seconds, his balance returned to normal. Also, when SWIM made any sudden movements (he's quite a hyperactive person and tends to move a lot) he felt extremely nervous, thus making his heart rate and blood pressure soar. SWIM's friend took his blood pressure, and for those of you who will understand the reading, it was 170/90! VISUAL EFFECTS: When in a brightly lit room, SWIM noticed only the slight blurring which shows itself inherently with the bad balance issue. When in complete darkness, SWIM noticed no significant hallucinations, but did experience a heightened perception of the hypnogogic colours and patterns one goes through before REM sleep. He figures this may be owing to the fact that he could not concentrate on anything else, and was probably on the verge of falling asleep. AUDITORY EFFECTS: During this experience, the auditory hallucinations were absolutely terrifying. After approximately one hour (more on timescales below), SWIM began to hear people calling his name. This was completely normal, and did not bother him. The only grievance SWIM has about this is that he did not always have the ability to separate the real from the surreal, and sometimes found himself wanting to answer the calls. This also made SWIM agitated and confused as he was then wondering what would happen if they were real, as he lives with his parents and does not want to be caught using any form of drug. After approximately 90 minutes, the voices turned to demonic laughter, screaming, and people going "BOO!" every time he turned around, turned a corner or opened a door. Thankfully, SWIM correctly acknowledged they were fake, and let them be. Non-vocal hallucinations were perceived also. These were similar to SWIM's one-off experience with a low-moderate dose of LSD in that they were neither frightening or sudden. For example, SWIM heard a faint (but sometimes loudish) tone, very similar to the low sweeping sound of an ocarina playing a couple of octaves lower than normal. Sounds such as these eventually started to make SWIM question what was real and what was perceived. This drove SWIM insane, and pushed his blood pressure up further. OTHER: This was an extremely unpleasant experience, and SWIM felt anxious, agitated and confused throughout. Auditory hallucinations made for a very scary couple of hours, and this was enhanced by SWIM not knowing what the fuck was going on. ~Dark |

Re: The Diphenhydramine Experience Thread: Please Post Experiences Here
Last night was swims first large dose of diphenhydramine. he took 12 x 25 mg pills and had a syrup containing 12.5 mg per ml of which he had only a few mouthfuls. Swim thought that he would most likely pass out before he got the chance to hallucinate so he drank 2 red bulls. A little more than an hour and a half later, swim began to gradually lose the efficiency of his thought process. Besides the mental numbness, swim thought he saw some old friends of his at his house. Since he couldnt think clearly, he did not kno how stupid he was being. After walking outside he thought one of his friends was hiding in a bush talking to him. Swim was only able to respond and look in the bush for a couple of moments before realizing how humiliating he mustve looked talking to himself in the middle of his front yard. Swim also thought a different friend was sitting with him in his room later and swim tried to say something to his friend that had been on his mind but looked up to an empty room to find him talking to himself once again before the end of the night. there wasnt any euphoria, nothing looked obscure or diffused, it was all too realistic to swim. The images he saw of his friends looked so real to him, like the most distinct memory swiys ever had. Swim did not really enjoy it that much. He likes more of the abstract visuals, things you would never see in real life, like the walls melting, the ceiliing falling in on him. Swim found this drug to be a drastic contrary to his interests.

Re: The Diphenhydramine Experience Thread: Please Post Experiences Here
strange... last night, SWIM didn't have very much fun. the was very very relaxed and calm, but just didn't trip like normal. he did a diphen trip just earlier this week and it was amazing. but he took the exact same dose last night and had no open-eyed visual hallucinations. he heard stuff that wasn't there but that's the extent of the trip. he didn't fall asleep early like the other night and he was able to actually move around and think (moderatly) clearly. does taking alot of diphen build up immunities or resistances? is there a tolerance? Help on lighting this subject would be greatly appreciated.
it would make SWIM sad if Diphen lost it's thrill much like DXM has. |

Re: The Diphenhydramine Experience Thread: Please Post Experiences Here
SWIM's first dose of Dimenhydrinate.. 600mg.
SWIM took 600mg Dimenhydrinate, accompanied by less than 6 beers. SWIM remembers nothing. SWIM has reports the next day of SWIM going down the hallway, knocking on people's doors, and asking for dog food for his dog. SWIM has no dog. SWIM lived in a hotel-like building with 4 stories and hundreds of living spaces. SWIM has reports of SWIM being let into somone's room and pissing on the wall. SWIM is missing a pair of shoes in the morning. This is all swim knows about this "experience". SWIM never takes Dimenhydrinate again.

Re: The Diphenhydramine Experience Thread: Please Post Experiences Here
Last Diphen experience, as told by SWIM.
Starting Time: 12:00 am. Amount: 475 mgs. (20 dye free Benadryl allergy) Other drugs: 2 ibuprofen that morning and one caffeine pill a half hour before consumption of diphenhydramine. Consumed on a semi-empty stomach. At the beginning, SWIM was doing just fine. Her previous experiences with lower doses of diphenhydramine had her feeling secure enough to give a higher dose a try, where hallucinations and delusions were almost always reported as occuring. She was on the phone with her girlfriend, who volunteered to stay on the line with her until SWIM decided it was time to cash in and fall asleep. SWIM had prepared a large cold bottle of water for the impending dry mouth, and a compliation of soothing music. SWIM felt comfortable enough to turn off all lights save for the glow of a computer screen. The anxiety that had occured on lower doses was almost non existent this time, because SWIM was on the phone with a trusted person who made her feel at ease. SWIM was playing around on the internet for the first 45 to 50 minutes at least. She expected the hallucinations to occur around 2 hours into the trip. Around one hour in, SWIM began to feel the bodily effects take hold. The heaviness, the tiredness began to seep into her, so she climbed up the ladder (SWIM has a bunk bed) to her bed, and laid down. Her voice was fine, the cognition of her thoughts fluid and easy, until about 2 minutes after laying down. On the phone, while talking, SWIM and SWIM's friend noticed a huge difference in the tone of SWIM's voice. SWIM heard her voice become flat and distant. Words became hard to say; sluggish, akin to being very drug and sleep deprived. SWIM was hoping the caffeine pill would hold her up. SWIM had the distinct feeling, around that time, that she had sunken into her bed, and that her voice sounded foreign and alien. SWIM began to lapse into long silences on the phone, where her mind would slowly just chug along, thinking of nothing in particular. SWIM was then asked questions and her girlfriend tried to keep her engaged in conversation. SWIM found that though thoughts were formed easily enough in her mind, saying them was a whole different, rather difficult task. She often forgot what she was saying mid way, and her speech was peppered with "Um..I forgot." SWIM decided to sit up, determined to stay awake long enough to actually have either auditory or visual hallucinations. SWIM found that she was staring off into space most of the time, and the odd thing is, she began to dream with her eyes open. She would stare at a T-shirt on her bed, and it would shift in her mind to become something like a baseball mit, or a dove. When SWIM realized what she was seeing as a baseball mit, or whatever, the hallucination would vanish. It was not a hallucination in a "real" sense, more like "seeing" from the mind's eye, as in a dream, rather than seeing something differently in reality, if that makes any sense at all. For the next half hour or so, SWIM was still on the phone, but was almost incapable of speaking properly, and the waking dreams were distracting, so SWIM decided to say good night to her girlfriend with reassurances that if she didn't feel safe, she would call her back immediately. SWIM laid back down, and tried to stick through the fight of staying awake. The music she had put on, though low in volume, was distracting, so SWIM ventured down to turn it off. It was difficult to move, SWIM felt sooo heavy. SWIM only had to pee once or twice during this, as opposed to the other times where SWIM had to go like every second. When SWIM ventured to the bathroom, the trip down the dark hallway was frightening, though not to a maddening extent. SWIM was sure if she concentrated on it, she would have scared herself with a hallucination or something. When SWIM finally made it to the bathroom, she looked in the mirror. Her eyes were wide open, and the bottom half of her eyes were blood shot. This scared SWIM, as she was afraid she was having some strange reaction to the drug's toxic levels. Her eyes also felt dry, though not itchy. SWIM was very warm by then, and her breathing had slowed tremendously, almost slow enough that it scared her to think that she would fall asleep and not be able to breathe properly. SWIM made the trek back to bed, where she then turned on the light. SWIM did not want to experience any more hallucinations during that night, she felt she had received enough from this drug and was over all scared that she had taken too much. The time before this that SWIM took 375mgs, SWIM remembers thinking her arms were swelling. SWIM was unsure then if that was a hallucination, but this time, SWIM felt that her arms and fingers and face were swelling too. Does any other SWIY's have any advice on why that may be? SWIM made sure to purchase dye free formula that time, thinking that maybe it was the dye that caused the swelling. Back to the story. SWIM laid down, facing the wall and focused on getting to sleep and sleeping off the rest of the drug. It was then that SWIM experienced very mild auditory hallucinations. SWIM once heard whispering voices, and confused, thought that she had left the music on turned down low. Remembering she had completely turned the music off confirmed that it was indeed a hallucination, and this did not scare SWIM. SWIM told herself it was not real, and focused on ignoring it. That worked. SWIM drifted in and out of sleep, and occasionally would hear an odd "thump" outside her door. SWIM again told herself that it was not real and was able to successfuly ignore it. SWIM eventually did get to sleep and woke up around 12 noon the next day. Her eyes were still a bit blood shot when she awoke, but the swelling in her arms and fingers had nearly dissappeared, though she thinks she noted mild swelling still in her face. SWIM would repeat this, if not for the breathing effect, blood shot eyes, and the swelling. The swelling made her paranoid and frightened, same with the breathing. It was not enjoyable in any sense of the word, though she knew it would not be, and did not intend for this trip to be "recreational" in any sense of the word. She intended on using this trip as a tool for mind expansion, and though she would not repeat it, she does not regret the experience. SWIM's advice to any considering a delerient antihistamine, is to do your research, THOROUGHLY. Read everything you can. Test yourself for allergic reactions. Start at a LOW LOW dose, work yourself up over a couple of months. SWIM tried this 4 times before venturing into a moderate to strong dose. NEVER take more than 500-550mgs. There is too many risks involved in that dosage. Have a sitter with you, though SWIM didn't. Have a good atmosphere set up, it is easy to freak yourself out on this stuff, and be safe, and careful. |

currently, SWIM is tripping on Diphenhydramine. he took 3 - 25mg Diphenhydramine Benedryl 30 minutes ago and another 3 just now. SWIM is currently laying on his bed and talking to a real-life poster of Larry Bird.
also, just before consuming the first 3, he smoked a bowl of purple. and it's a reeaally good mix... ![]() one hour in and swim is now seeing bright flashes of lights and dark dots spinning on the walls. he is also as limp as a rag doll, but not tired at all Last edited by Micklemouse; 01-06-2007 at 08:27. SWIM took this drug 4 nights ago and took 300 mgs and had very little effects and soon fell asleep watchin tv
the next night SWIM decied to take it again and increase the dosage to 375- 425 range. very fun. SWIM watched tv for a little bit and though they saw birds flying around in the tv when it was shut off to go to SWIMS bedroom and though they were flying into the screen. later that night SWIM fell asleep and had a dream that he was skating and chilling with a friend. friend asked SWIM to listen to a song on his ipod. SWIM listens to the song and instantly regzonizes the song as A Psychadelic Trip by Infected Mushroom. SWIM woke up the next day feelin like the house was full of smoke. SWIM slept for 16 hours all in all SWIM this was a good expericence SWIM would deff. do it again another time |

Re: The Diphenhydramine Experience Thread: Please Post Experiences Here
Hi everyone, it has been a long time since SWIM did Diphenhydramine. In this six months SWIM did DXM, Coke, Metylphenilate, Benzodiazepines, Carisoprodol, and got heavily hooked on Codeine, Tramadol and Hydrocodone (opiates and opioids).
After all this mix of drugs, guess which is SWIM's favourite drug? yes, Diphenhydramine. SWIM loves this drug, it is so awesome and useful in so many aspects. And its far the most powerful drug SWIM have ever felt. First of all, let SWIM say that he doesnt know if he would have been able to go cold turkey from opiates if he wouldnt had the help of Diphenhydramine. The SSRI effects helped him to feel a lot less depressed (SWIM was addicted to Tramadol, and opioid with antidepressant properties), the antihistamine effects helped him to supress a little the terrible sweating, chills and body temperature changes of the Codeine/Hydrocodone withdrawal. The music appreciation enhancement of Diphenhydramine helped a lot too, to enjoy music much more and forget about the wd feelings. Same with the mild HPPD, this could sound weird, but SWIM felt tranquil and quite happy when he started to see beatiful stunning halos around lights and how the colours of the street seemed to be different than always. And after doing massive doses of other drugs for long periods, SWIM can say no drug felt so powerful, immersive and mystic (as in interesting) like Diphenhydramine did. No other drug made SWIM dont able to move his body because of the incredible body load, no other drug made SWIM completely lost the fear to darkness, and made the darkness felt so "life like" distant, if that makes any sense. Most importantly, no other drug made SWIM dream so powerfully while awake like Diphenhydramine did, not even opiates, benzos and SOMAs. Diphenhydramine its unique, and when most people say it doesnt worth, SWIM thinks its the most serious drug he ever did. |

Swiy could try and sleep through it,however this is not always guarunteed.Diphenhydramine has the odd property that it is used as a sleepaid and has sedating effects, yet also delerient effects. At high does the delerient effect and uncomfortable body feeling can make a person so agitated and feel so badly that sleep is near impossible.

Diphen makes SWIM extremely cold and tired. Also makes him have to pee like every 5 minutes even if he doesn't have any urine to piss out, which can become quite annoying. Most he did was 200 mg followed by some weed. This caused him to lay down like a zombie and hear very strong auditory hallucinations like jackhammers in one ear and then an approaching train in the other or people whispering. He stared at himself in the mirror for about 20 minutes and his face kept squiggling in a true visual hallucination.

Re: The Diphenhydramine Experience Thread: Please Post Experiences Here
SWIM once tried diphenhydramine. It was SWIM's first experience with such a powerful substance, as SWIM has never tried any other hallucinogen or delieriant. SWIM was skeptical that the pills would even have much of an effect, so, just to be safe, SWIM popped 12 50mg unisom sleeping pills.
SWIM was anxious for the effects to become apparent. SWIM noticed noises coming from outside of SWIM's room. Also, SWIM knew only that diphenhydramine would "mess you up" as SWIM's friend had informed him of the recreational value of the pills. SWIM has since decided to do SWIM's own research before trying anything. Anyway, SWIM went out to see what was making all the noise. However, SWIM was surprized to find nothing outside my room. SWIM went back to SWIM's room and noticed something odd about the clothing strewn about the floor. The clothing was moving. Actually, it looked like the clothing was breathing. This amazed SWIM and so SWIM sat and watched the clothing dance about the floor. SWIM probably sat for 30 minutes before attempting to get back up. Again to SWIM's surprise, the diphenhydramine had produced another interesting effect. SWIM felt heavy. SWIM attempted to lift SWIM's arms, but was unable to reach SWIM's own face. This made SWIM happy. The pills had worked, and certainly exceeded his expectations. SWIM suddenly had to urinate, and so began the battle to move SWIM's sandbag legs in attempt to reach the bathroom. After a few minutes of stumbling about, SWIM had reached the door. SWIM's bathroom has a large mirror facing the doorway. SWIM half glanced at it and took a step towards the toilet. Suddenly something caught SWIM's eye. Something SWIM had seen out of the corner of SWIM's eye in the mirror. Something had moved but SWIM did not know what. SWIM's body felt rigid at the sight it could not explain. SWIM felt terror for a split second as SWIM moved closer to the mirror to gaze at it. SWIM noticed something odd about SWIM's face, but could not nail down what it was. SWIM's face seemed to be moving ever so slightly in an odd way. This gave SWIM goosebumps. SWIM then went to the toilet and pissed. SWIM noticed that it felt fantastic. SWIM put it at about 3rd on SWIM's list of wonderful pissing experiences. SWIM then felt tired. SWIM laid down in bed and began to have a conversation with a faint voice SWIM could hear from outside of SWIM's room. SWIM passed out at some point during the conversation and had one of the most horrifying dreams SWIM has ever had. Overall, SWIM was intrigued by the experience and has tried it many times since. SWIM just thought to share. The end. |

Re: The Diphenhydramine Experience Thread: Please Post Experiences Here
Swim once took 3 x50mg diphenhydramine pills when away on a business trip because of insomnia due to sleeping in a strange place. Swim didn't achieve proper sleep the whole night and spent it in a state of agitation and intense drowsiness and slight hallucinations in the dark. Swim could hear his name being screamed out in familiar voices occasionally and it sounded very real. He was also taking Citalopram 20mg and Buprenorphine 8mg at that time as regular morning medications.
Many years ago swim used to use pheniramine maleate recreationally which is similar to diphenhydramine and would cause intense visuals and drowsiness. |
