Storage and lastability of dried pods

Hello everyone,
SWIM would like to know how long dried poppy pods will keep for, and whether or not they need to be stored in a specific way if a SWIM wants to preserve them long term?

SWIM read that morphine in opium will lose potency but does not know if this applies to pods aswell.

Pods can last a while dried, longer if stored in dark with an little air as possible. Swim would say that if they are stored properly you could keep them for a couple of years.

Thanks for the reply, Mr Jim,
SWIM had assumed this to be the case, but then read about morphine in opium degrading and turning into codeine or something.
Presumably if they are kept in sealed boxes this shouldn,t be a problem.

SWIM believes that they have previously uncovered silver opium boxes from china, burried with the ancient dead and, when exhumed, the opium was still active.
