Re: Diazepam - Appropriate Dosage for Anxiety & Recreation

SWIM thanks you all again for advice in a difficult time, she also got prescribed Xanax in the end (which was not prescribable on the NHS Sickpup - but SWIM only had to pay a few £ for them).

SWIMs anxiety has now improved greatly though so SWIM hasn't had to take many of the benzos, but they are there in case of any sudden panic attacks or sleepless nights.

Out of interest how did SWIAurora get prescribed Xanax if you can't get it on the NHS? SWIM knows there are illicit ways of acquiring it but SWIY suggests SWIY got them legitimately.

I assume you are UK xanax is not recommended for uk use but is avalible on private pescription which is what my dog gets, it costs more but it is the most effective for anxiety control in my dogs opinion without the tiredness.

SWIY means you can't get it on the NHS then? Only private healthcare?

Now I wondered if anyone could advise SWIM. SWIM suffers with anxiety (probably GAD) and has done for at least the past 6 years. SWIM has told her GP, who couldn't prescribe Beta-Blockers as SWIM is an asthmatic. A course of SSRI type anti-depressents was suggested by the GP, but SWIM didn't want to commit to 6 months on this type of drug.

The GP has referred SWIM to counselling and prescibed her with some 2mg Diazepam. The doctor said SWIM should try to only take them when the anxiety was severe or SWIM couldn't sleep. At first SWIM didn't take any as her anxiety subsided a little, but when it worsened again she began to take one or two of the 2mgs to help sleep or calm down. SWIM has been told by doc to only take a max of 3 of these a day as SWIM hasn't taken Benzos before. SWIM dosn't really think this low dose is very effective in treating anxiety and she knows its not gonna be the solution either. How much could SWIM safely take if she was having a bad anxiety day and how much should she take if she experimented with it recreationally (ie enought to make her feel nicely chilled, not too messed up)?

thanks in advance
swim agees that 2mg's T.I.D. is still a low dose of diazapam for treating GAD.
swim suffers from GAD and is prescibed diazapam 5mg's Q.I.D. plus a with a few ssri's.
as far as benzo's go for swim (swim's personal opinion),,,, with the exception of alprazolam most benzo's have no recreational value,,,,.

My monkey was really disappointed in Diazepam. Monkey thought it would have been so much more. Didn't even chill the monkey out.

First time using diazepam

Hello everyone,

swim found some of these pills in his cousins refrigirator and he took a few of them for recreational purposes

they are 5mg diazepam pills

swim decided he is going to try them out tonight
swim is going out with his friends and wanted to know:

1) is 5mg a good and safe starting dose?
2) because he and his friends are going to a pub would it be safe to drink around 0.5L of beer?

oh and swim has a slight asthma problem, but not now, it usually kicks in around september - is this going to have a negative effect on swim?

Re: First time using diazepam

Well combining benzos and alcohol isn't the best idea but 5mg is a very low dose so as long as SWIY doesn't get really drunk then 5mg will be fine especially if it's only with 1 pint of beer. To be honest SWIY might not even get any effects off of 5mg will probably just make the 1 beer feel like 2. SWIM needs at least 10mg to really feel anything and normally takes 20mg at once. SWIM has passed out whilst out taking valium and drinking once before, the first time he ever took it. But then he took 10mg, was already drunk, drunk more and did a big line of K lol.

Wouldn't be surprised if people say not to combine the two at all but SWIM cannot see any problem with taking just 5mg with a beer or 2. Just don't get drunk and take loads more.

No idea how valium effects asthma.
