Overdose - Overdosing After Smoking Crack Cocaine

now ive heard this is possible....and the ONLY way SWIM figures this possible is taking too big of a hit on the first hit of the day or something....is this how overdosing on crack works?? Or do you just gotta cook up some crack with barely any baking soda and just take a huuuuge hit?

I've heard of someone collapsing and having a heart attack after smoking crack but i dunno if it was their first pipe or what. sorry. A paramedic once told me though that smoking crack causes damage to your arteries that could cause a blood clot to form at any time, (halfway through smoking, after smoking, the next day etc).

This is true.

I have personal experience with this and can tell you that frequent use may result in impaired vascular condition.

Just pay attention to your body.

If symptoms mimic of peripheral artery disease, it's time to cut down.

Oh another thing, SWIM (for real) just told me that they blacked out once during a crack binge, for about an hour, and then got up and carried on smoking.

Re: OD'ing, it's more likely that repeated hits in a short time period would do this... a single hit is unlikely to. That's for O.D. though, not heart attacks/strokes produced by doses in the normal range (which can certainly happen with crack).

if you were to have a heart attack while smoking crack it would immediately happen while you were taking the hit.If it doesnt happen then,you know you're safe from suffering a heart attack...The only time swim OD'd was when he mixed Morphine and crack...Otherwise it's kinda hard to OD off crack alone unless you are smoking mass amounts in short periods of time.

Didn't some rich white boy who was a b-ball player in high school smoked crack once and he died of a heart attack in the 70's or 80's? And thats why the law is so strict on crack?

Anyone clarify this?

Well you've got some of the details wrong, but the jist is right. First of all he was a rich black boy, not a white boy, second of all he was a college player who played for U Maryland. In fact he died 48 hours after being the second draft pick for the NBA, in 1986 (Len Bias was his name btw). So he was a much bigger deal than a high school player. The idiot as soon as he heard he was drafted was coked out for the entire 48 hours. He ingested nearly 5 grams in a single sitting right before he died. He died of cardiac arrythmia (irregular heartbeat). He also was not smoking crack but using regular snortable cocaine salt. However the media irresponsibly reported initially that Bias had died from crack cocaine, rather than powdered (as part of a PR campaign to make him seem like a victim of the new insidious drug on the market, rather than a raging cokehead). And yes the Bias story had a major influence on the modern crack/cocaine sentencing disparity.

Before Bias cocaine was widely perceived as a soft drug along the lines of marijuana, it was after this that public perception changed to it being a hard drug more in line with heroin, giving it a higher enforcement priority.
