Ecstasy tablets worth $420,000 seized at bridge

More than 14 pounds of Ecstasy tablets with a street value of about $420,000 was seized Friday from a 20-year-old Canadian woman at the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls, according to Kevin Corsaro, public affairs officer for U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

In all, more than 21,000 tablets of Ecstasy were seized. The woman, of London, Ont., told border patrol agents she was on her way to visit her boyfriend in Niagara Falls, N.Y. Additional questioning raised suspicion by agents who referred her for a secondary inspection.
That's when officers found the door panels in her car were apparently tampered with. They found six vacuum-sealed bags of tablets after removing the door panels, Corsaro said. The woman, whose name was withheld for investigative purposes, was held on federal charges of importation and possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance. She was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation and prosecution by the U.S. attorney's office, Corsaro said.

SWIM HIGHLY doubts that someone transporting 21,000 ecstasy tablets would actually try crossing the border while rolling. That's just plain stupidity.

Things that would make her suspicious would include acting nervous, looking around lots, a shaky voice, etc. And of course young people are quite often considered to be suspicious by border officers in the first place. It's not right, but unfortunately that's the way it is.
