Side effects lasting weeks?

Hypothetically of course...

is it possible that, after smoking 20x salvia and having an insanely intense trip (classifiable as "level 5") lasting an hour, similar but less intense effects could be revisited after smoking marijuana? I'm talking like a remainder of the chemicals or something in the brain receptors that would be rekindled after smoking marijuana. Days, and even weeks after first smoking the salvia?

Has anyone else ever experianced this? It is starting to worry me that swim has caused permanant damage to my brain.

Re: Side effects lasting weeks?

If SWIY has damaged his brain, it wouldn't be from Salvia.

SWIY should consider SWIY's self lucky if he can get a trip without even trying

Yeah, SWIM has no clue.

Re: Side effects lasting weeks?

Swim has some sort of the same problem. He had a very bad salvia experience a few weeks back and lately when he smokes a lot of cannabis he gets some of the feelings back. Especially when he's by himself and its late at night.

Don't worry swiy definitely didn't damage swiy's brain, it's just that marijuana has a heavy effect on the memory components of our brains (cannibonoids our the endogenous compounds in the mind used to control primarily memory). It is quite typical for swim to have drug experiences being "soaked" up by marijuana, especially strong psychedelic experiences. The marijuana helps bring back the memories of recent drug use.

Don't worry about it at all, in a few weeks swiy won't even be able to notice it unless he really concentrates on bringing it to the surface. Don't worry about it, swim definitely isn't worried about his similar condition. Salvia and marijuana are both very very safe compounds in terms of actual physical brain damage.

Swim doubts you have this but read it anyway on the off chance.
Is swiy actually tripping or just getting the light head feeling?

Re: Side effects lasting weeks?

I don't know if you could attribute the lasting effects to HPPD right away. Swim had some intense and for the most part negative experiences with Salvia and noticed (especially after he tried smoking some Salvia Divinorum with weed a bit after) that weed created weird uncomfortable feelings for him soon thereafter. After a bit of time though the effects diminished, probably about a week as swim was smoking multiple times per day (3-9) and couldn't handle it otherwise, though his cannabis consumption did decrease for that period of time.

Swim suggests swiy lays off the psychoactives for a bit and tries to chill out and get things back into perspective. When he/she feels fairly leveled and anxiety-free maybe they should try cannabis again and see if there are less negative psychological side effects.

Re: Side effects lasting weeks?

It has been known since the early days of psychedelic exploration that having a powerful experience with LSD or mescaline often changes the effects of marijuana for the user. No good explanation for this seems to exist. Theories abound - but nothing concrete.

So why not with salvia? Guess it's time we recognize this as possible/probable. Now we just wait for more reports to come in. In any event, I wouldn't be concerned in a negative way. Just figure this is how things will be for the time.

Re: Side effects lasting weeks?

What is the way of measuring the intensity of a trip? Piratetothe mentions that Swih had a level 5, what are the gronds for such a rating?

I think he may be using the S-A-L-V-I-A description:

Level - 1 "S" stands for SUBTLE effects. A feeling that "something" is happening, although it is difficulty to say just what. Relaxation and increased sensual appreciation may be noted. This mild level is useful for meditation and may facilitate sexual pleasure.
Level - 2 "A" stands for ALTERED perception. Colors and textures are more pronounced. Appreciation of music may be enhanced. Space may appear of greater or lesser depth than is usual. But visions do not occur at this level. Thinking becomes less logical, and more playful; short-term memory difficulties may be noted.
Level - 3 "L" stands for LIGHT visionary state. Closed-eye visuals (clear imagery with eyes closed: fractal patterns, vine-like and geometric patterns, visions of objects and designs). The imagery is often two dimensional. If open-eyed visual effects occur, these are usually vague and fleeting. At this level, phenomena similar to the hypnagogic phenomena that some people experience at sleep onset occur. At this level, visions are experienced as "eye candy" but are not confused with reality.
Level - 4 "V" stands for VIVID visionary state. Complex three-dimensional realistic appearing scenes occur. Sometimes voices may be heard. With eyes open, contact with consensual reality will not be entirely lost, but when you close your eyes you may forget about consensus reality and enter completely into a dreamlike scene. Shamanistic journeying to other lands--foreign or imaginary; encounters with beings (entities, spirits) or travels to other ages may occur. You may even live the life of another person. At this level you have entered the shaman's world. Or if you prefer: you are in "dream time." With eyes closed, you experience fantasies (dream like happenings with a story line to them). So long as your eyes are closed you may believe they are really occurring. This differs from the "eye candy" closed-eye imagery, of level 3.
Level - 5 "I" stands for IMMATERIAL existence. At this level one may no longer be aware of having a body. Consciousness remains and some thought processes are still lucid, but one becomes completely involved in inner experience and looses all contact with consensual reality. Individuality may be lost; one experiences merging with God/dess, mind, universal consciousness, or bizarre fusions with other objects--real or imagined (e.g. experiences such as merging with a wall or piece of furniture). At this level it is impossible to function in consensual reality, but unfortunately some people do not remain still but move around in this befuddled state. For this reason a sitter is essential to ensure the safety of someone voyaging to these deep levels. To the person experiencing this the phenomenon may be terrifying or exceedingly pleasant; but to an outside observer the individual may appear confused or disoriented.
Level 6 - "A" stands for AMNESIC effects. At this stage, either consciousness is lost, or at least one is unable to later recall what one had experienced. The individual may fall, or remain immobile or thrash around; somnambulistic behavior may occur. Injuries can be sustained without pain being felt; on awakening, the individual will have no recollection of what he/she did, experienced, or said in level 6. People cannot recall what they experience in this very deep trance state. This is not a desirable level, because nothing can latter be recalled of the experience.

careful what you link to!

Wink Re: Side effects lasting weeks?

Dude SAlvia effects will last you FOR GOOD!!!!!! jajajajaajaj
swim has no clue yet that...it is not about the trip itself is about the level of conciouness you archived during the short salvia trip. think about your brain as a history conector...salvia takes you to the very moment of your existance...if you feel watch by some force and you get paranoid....sorry you are watched...but by your bigger self...I will explain this. normally our eyes have a very short amount of bits per second of grasping reality. look at our little pupils....everytime you are in trance they get bigger, just like cats at night...therefor a bigger amount of information goes through....psicoactivation....you know what is PSIQUE? its SOUL, so you see more of your soul. In salvia you see it ALL of it. and your human body enlarges to its GOD self....and you have a god head that is in heaven, a god body that is in the hole space between heaven and the earth and your god-devil unknown self that is down into magma...where we burn jajajajajaaj!
so you are your own God ok? and you judge yourselve cause there is nobody that knows you better than your yourselve, think this... you know all your thoughts your motivation, your life.... but because we see ourselves only as humans we dont grasp the common parameter that bond us in the same existance: like roles! there are roles we...all matter that exists has...and joint emotions we all expiriance as well...everything has a mother! a father. it a Son....it has existance...but we need to have a purpose, and that is why we are condensated into a human form, we humans, cause the other us; plants, animals, clouds, buildings etc.. they wanna be something else they have chosen when we, THE all matter agree on what it wanted to be....so when you get a door open with weed or just by meditation, you are going into what i will call your father self...and yourselve speaks to you as you were god....the same with motherwood, this is the way we made eachother. we judge ourselves... then probably you got a bit scare by what you said to your selve, YOU want to scare you, cause is the only way you know you`r gonna understand something you are expiriancing!"
LISTEN and CHAnge that!!!! is it provably very painfull for you, but you need to fell growded in your feet, realistic..the rest of the world will do the work by talking to you and making sure you get your messege...everytime you get a brakethough it is just to make sure you are keeping up with the plan of your life....salvia had open DIvine gates, not to be affraid, there is nothing to be affraid off if you do your roles well!!!!

Re: Side effects lasting weeks?

Swim had some of the same problems after a hellish LSD experience, cannabis would make him feel weird and unpleasant for a couple of weeks after.
This passed though, so don't worry.

BTW, a bad-trip can be message, figure out what the message is and integrate it into your life. SWIMs message was that he was too abstract and needed some solid ground, so SWIM has been growing a lot of (legal)plants as well as gotten a good job with lots of physical work outdoors.
He feels a lot better.

Re: Side effects lasting weeks?

swim had a very intense experience for the first time smoking salvia, which he did not prepare himself for and left him a little scared of sally. in all it was a positive experience because he can respect her more now.. but there was slight psychosis for a few days. mainly he thot there might still be some salvia in his pipe's water and would experience salvia like effects while smoking grass. this was more of a mental thing I think he was going through..
