So good old paracetamol (or acetaminophen/tylenol) most likely is a pro-drug to a compound which stimulates CB1 receptors...
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/q..._uids=17227290 Arachidonic acid + paracetamol = N-arachidonoylphenolamine Explain why its a fairly decent pain killer (minus its horrible toxic side effects in overdose) "A single study has shown that administration of paracetamol increases the bioavailability of serotonin (5-HT) in rats,[5] but the mechanism is unknown and untested in humans. In 2006, it was shown that paracetamol is converted to N-arachidonoylphenolamine, a compound already known (AM404) as an endogenous cannabinoid. As such, it activates the CB1 cannabinoid receptor; a CB(1) receptor antagonist completely blocks the analgesic action of paracetamol.[6]" Wikipedia 2007 Paracetamol dose should not exceed 1g and no more than four doses in a day. |
