SWIM attacked by law enforcement

SWIM was attacked by drunken off-duty members of the Irish police, the Gardaí Síochana (which ironically translates to "Guardians of the Peace"), last night. In a bizarre situation, something of a ruckus started - I believe the situation arose from a completely unrelated skirmish, not entirely unusual considering how violent and reckless the inner city streets of Irish cities have gotten over the last few years. As tempers cooled down, the situation looked as though it wouldn't escalate. One of SWIM's friends, generally a passivist and one of the most genuinely decent people he knows, was a tad incensed but one of the fuzz appeared to be talking him out of his anger. He tried to restrain him and the next thing SWIM saw was several of the other little piggies taking cheap punches at his friend, he unable to defend himself.

SWIM was trying to let the situation clear but this was too far. He grabbed one of the bastards by the neck and proceeded to attempt to strangle him. This was something of a suicidal move considering SWIM and his friends were out-numbered five to, at a guess, twenty. As he did this, he received several blows to the head, and maybe even more annoyingly than that, one of the snakey fucks tripped him off his feet causing SWIM to bump painfully on his tailbone. SWIM bounced right back up and was surprised the pigs didn't do more damage. At first he was just glad none of his friends was seriously hurt, they easily could have been but as both groups separated a rush of adrenaline caused SWIM to really lose it. He was in a literal fit of rage, feeling like destroying anything in his sight because of the cowardly nature of the police in this attack. As SWIM walked home, he felt angrier than he ever did in his life. His breathing was heavy and his muscles tensened with fury. He felt like screaming his lungs out. At one stage, he nearly threw a brick through a car windscreen but luckily some passer-by talked him out of it.

As SWIM types this, it's maybe seven hours since this happened. He has a black eye, a bump on the forehead and a few other bruises from when he was tripped. He's literally in a position of no power whatsoever in terms of getting even with these motherfuckers. All he can do is remember their faces and just pray that someday he'll get even with the cunts. There's nothing else to say. SWIM is very, very pissed off!

Swim is sorry to hear that. A friend of swims was attacked by the police. It makes swim sick to the stomach to think the police are no better than the gangs of muggers prowling the streets. Swim knows how frustrating it is to be put in that situation and knows exactly how swiy felt when walking home.

Let it go. Thugs end up fodder for other meaner thugs eventually, and there will always be that component of thuggishness in LE no matter what. SWIY is getting bent outa shape about something SWIY cannot control. No point letting then take all SWIY's energy as well..

At least SWIY can look back on a good strangle, so it's not that SWIM was totally helpless in this situation. Which is good as SWIY was outnumbered vastly.
But I have to say this: The Gardai where out of hand after an skirmish and acted out towards your friend and you while they shouldn't have. And after SWIY's skirmish, SWIY felt the same need to act out on by throwing a brick to a car. So basicly SWIY is reacting the same way as the herd of Gardai. Only in a lesser form.

Dang. Sounds like something you rehearse in drama class with props, but never actually have to deal with. Sounds like swiy has 2 choices from here. Either be very vocal about it or just forget it. And i'd imagine neither is going to be a walk in the park. I guess one's only assurance is the fact that swiy is able to still post here, rather than make one only call from jail, trying to convince people the good ole police dun ya wrong. Saving ones sanity I think by dismissing it as something that coulda happened to anyone is a better option than trying to get even.

From a SWIM who has received more than SWIM's share of severe physical abuse and theft from law enforcement, drop it. SWIM found that all the rage SWIM was carrying around was never vented, and the police were more or less untouchable, not to mention in a much better position to inflict more harm on SWIM. Life is not fair and there are many mean spirited, violent, immoral people in this world. Generally payback only invites more of the same. SWIM has been a happier person since learning to let this kind of crap go - the energy expenditure and risk is not worth it for SWIM anymore.
Also, SWIY is no less of a 'man' for not confronting the situation with revenge. Rather, SWIM is superior to the pee-brained law enforcement bullies which more often than not are the ones enforcing the law ... let some other asshole pay them back and pay the price. With that kind of behavior on their part, it is a matter of time...

Swim got some of that same shit a few years ago... He was buzzing the entry door to a Western Union office that was also a 24hr answering service. He'd been recieving a stipend from home for months... This particular time, Swim could not get the guy behind the counter to open the door in a reasonable time (say 3-5min) so swim kicked the door (without any damage)... and waited while repeatedly buzzing.... Minutes later the cops came, arrested Swim for disorderly, and took him to jail... While being booked, Swim plainly told the booking officer that he was not goin to answer any question other than name and adress... When Swim asked what his official charge was and what his bond was, the arresting officer hustles ole Swim off to an interrogation room and got into some "electro-torture"... Bastard zapped Swim the first time which knocked Swim outta the chair... Swim stood up and replied "Damn now, you are one electrifying motherfucker huh??? The pig zapped Swim again, but Swim fell into a corner and concentrated on one little grain of mortar. He refused to go down.. The pig finally turned off the juice and told Swim "well, I will say you've sure got some balls...... Swim was thrown in a holding cell. The next morning, as a gaurd passed by, Swim told the guard he wanted to know his charges.... The guard split. A few min later, he opened the cell door and told Swim "you were never here"..... Swim went home. thought about the shit awhile, toked a bit, and decided fuck it.... He went downtown and confronted the police commisioner personally in his office... At first, the officer told Swim that he was wrong, no officers were issued devices.... Swim calmy pulled up his shirt and showed the pig the burn marks.... The commish told Swim he'd have to hire an attorney and file against the city if he desired.... Swim looked at the officer and told him " Nah, that's not gonna happen, I'm too poor; but I will tell 'ya that if I ever see that officer in a secluded parking lot, and I think I can get away with it, I fully intend to tire iron beat that bastard senseless and hospital bound!!!" The commish nodded at Swim and told him thanks for stoppin by......... Swim never saw that lousy cop again, but who knows, maybe someday -----------

SWIY had an altercation that probably was one of dozens, perhaps hundreds that are all but gone from the memory of the man, or men, who carried out your punishment. Yet, there are dozens, perhaps hundreds, who have read this account and are thinking about SWIY's personal struggle.

Now there are many people who despise the man SWIY despises.

There is power in that, and it is just.

Tolerance and complacency are not the same. Complacency lacks the teeth of justice that awaits those who abuse tolerance.

The virtue of mercy and the ideal of justice are not mutually exclusive, nor should they be.

But snapper is right, it takes much energy to keep the corruption of revenge at bay. However, the morality of human spirit will tell you when it is justice or revenge, and one is far more easier to reconcile than the other.

No one is untouchable. The most powerful human being on Earth can be killed by a single blow to the head, if one can get close enough. Those who think they are untouchable are naive.

The only reason to have guardians (police, soldiers, judges) in the first place is to protect the innocent from evil (the deceptive and the violent). When the guardians themselves become evil, no individual is obliged to obey them. From an ethical standpoint, one has every right to use deception or violence - even to the point of deadly force - in self-defense. It doesn't matter whether it's a lone predator, a gang of ten, a gang of one hundred, or a gang of one million that calls itself a government.

That said, hatred and vengeance can never destroy evil. Only kindness and forgiveness can.

Anger is quite the powerful emotion and it is normal to want to seek vengeance but SWIM believes that SWIY knows better then that. Why should SWIY get to the level of those fuckers anyway?

A week later, SWIM feels quite different about this. He's not exactly happy with the situation, he did have a black eye for several days, but he doesn't feel the overwhelming sense of rage anymore. Truth is, SWIM's taken beatings far worse and this wasn't much in comparison. He's also received positive support from friends, even people he doesn't know, which is always a good thing.

It's often difficult to decide where the line of demarcation lies between civil discipline and civil oppression.

However, physical beatings by a protectorate is no longer a protectorate.

It is wrong to accept.

I'm not trying to incite revolution only accountability.

Then again, it's easier to simply let it go since you probably won't be the next one beaten down. However, if you are, I guarantee that you won't be so willing to turn the other cheek.

A friend of mine was pulled over by a state police officer in Massachusetts late one night. He had done nothing to provoke a traffic stop.

The state cop illegally searched his car and called my friend a "little faggot" after finding a small amount of marijuana. And then he punched and kicked my friend. The cop said this was his lucky night, and drove off with arresting my now battered buddy.

He did not know that the "little faggot" was an attorney.

My friend put out calls to all other attorney's offices to see what else this cop had been up to. Another attorney was already on it as well. The investigation took about two years. The cop had also been pulling over women, late at night, and threatening/forcing them to perform sex acts on him.

My friend had the sublime pleasure of seeing this dirtball sentenced to 10 - 20 years in the state prison in Walpole, Mass. Being a cop in state prison - he needed "special" treatment. Read: Solitary confinement. Bye, bye Porky!

Well Nagognog that is one of the most beautiful stories SWIM has heard in awhile,brings a smile to SWIM's face.Those nasty little piggies are the real criminals,their system that beats down the gentle and caring and glorifies brutallity and trampling the basic freedoms of other human beings.I know it is wrong but when SWIM hears on the news a cop takes a bullet he smiles.
