Re: Opium and Poppy tea experiences
Swim made some tea using 720g of poppy seeds yesterday. Half an hour before ingesting the tea he took 2 cimetidine (tagamet) and a glass oh grapefruit juice. The high was very, very nice despite some nausea but the amazing thing it that he can still feel the effects a whole 19 hours later. They're very, very mild of course, but definitely there. Pretty amazing....

Re: Opium and Poppy tea experiences
SWIM has a sad case of the local strain of flu virus and is in a constant state of feeling like crap...lack of sleep (due to coughing as soon as he lays down) and shivers with body chills. SWIM got his hands on a few pods...took two pulverised them.
Heated honey & fresh lemon and steep the pods in a tea infuser with hot water...let his brew sit for 45 minutes and back into the micro-wave to reheat. The taste was harsh but not too bad. After getting this brew down the hatch about 30 minutes later started to feel MUCH better...and the best part...SWIM slept a full night the first in over 4 nights. The worst part was the mild nausia (which passed after about an hour). The pods were about the size of a nickel. SWIM does not advocate this to anyone....but thought I'd share my experieance. It is rather interesting in how much better SWIM feels after getting a full night's sleep. Even the body chill's have greatly deminished. |

Re: Opium and Poppy tea experiences
Since laudanums and other Tincture de Opii were commonly used as a cough suppressant and a cold and flu symptom suppressant back in older times . . . One is not surprised to hear this worked for SWIY. These tinctures were common and readily available, didn't cost too much and were effective though sometimes fatal in the peoples whom scoffed down a heap ignorantly just wanting the symptoms to go away.
Even the good nights sleep would have contributed to SWIY feeling better also. Glad to hear of SWIyour experience.

Re: Opium and Poppy tea experiences
Swim obtained 30 large pods of the tasmanian variety yesterday. He had been reading about PPT for awhile and was intrigued due to the high cost of opiates in his area. Swim put 6 pods in a blender and ground them to a fine powder. He then brought 2 cups of water to a boil, removed the pot from the heat, and poured the hot water into the blender. He then set the blender to the mince setting at low speed. The mixture was left to steep for about 30 minutes. The taste was bitter, but not at all horrible as he had read. After about 20 minutes, swim felt a strong buzz akin to taking about 100mg Mscontin orally. Over the course of the day, he made 2 or 3 more batches of tea and shared with a couple other swimmer friends. He has been nodding and very, very pleasantly buzzed all day.
This is most definately recommended for someone looking for a cheap, but high quality opiate experience. |

Re: Opium and Poppy tea experiences
Also, beware the itch. It's horrible, unbearable even. I forgot to take a benadryl before ingesting the tea, and regretted it immensely towards the latter part of the trip. I ended up taking like 4 of them to no avail. Next time, I'll know better.

Re: Opium and Poppy tea experiences
Be especially aware of that itch if a particular acid is used to facilitate the extraction process.
If acetic acid is used on a tea then some of the codeine will be converted to 6MAC (6-monoacetyl Codeine) This is a fairly toxic opiate and known to produce allergic reactions even in people whom are opiate tolerant. Even just normally the "itch" which is produced by opiates is SWIyour body releasing histamines, excessive histamine release can lead to anaphylactic shock and in worst case scenario, full systemic shock which can lead to death. Hope this has been of help

Re: Opium and Poppy tea experiences
No acetic acid was used. Swim used lime juice in his preperation. Swim also believes he may have over done it on his first journey, because he has a decent opiate tolerance and didn't understand how powerful the dried pods could be.

acetic acid is not a common acid to be used in tea formulations but SWIM was just putting the warning out there so people knew.

Re: Opium and Poppy tea experiences
Swim's irresponsible wheaton terrier ordered 80 large purplish Pap. Som. pods off of ***y. Will try tea first to test quality and post her experience here. Then the damned puppy wants to try CFO if the potency is right. She even picked up a big mesh strainer and pyrex dishes with her normal dog bones at the store today. The pods arrive tomorrow. Swim will have to keep a close eye on his puppy.

Re: Opium and Poppy tea experiences
Dosage: 0.5 grams
Duration: 2-3 hours Onset: Instantaneous Body Description: Male - ~6' tall - 130 pounds Last night SWIM got to smoke opium for the first time. It was jet black and quite similar in appearance and texture to what SWIM had assumed it would be. He loaded it into a pipe with a screen and passed it between he and 3 penguin friends until it was ash. He got about 4 good hits and while he wishes he could have had more, those left him feeling pretty good. 0:00 - SWIM's first hit. It tastes pretty good, but the smell, oh man it smells so good. SWIM holds in the hit while continuing to take in his surrroundings. After about 45 seconds SWIM lets out his hit and takes the pipe again to get another. This is repeated until the opium is gone. After the pipe is ashed, SWIM attempts to recognize how he is feeling. He says it feels pretty much exactly what he would guess smoking oxycodone would feel like - - - Good. 0:30 - SWIM is still sitting on the bed that he has been in for the past half hour. He realizes this and immediately gets up to walk around. He goes outside, to the garage, back upstairs, and then realizes he doesn't really know how he feels other than, "GREAT!" For the rest of the night SWIM felt the same, right before bed he smoked a bowl. He got high, but noticed no potentiation between the weed and the previously smoked opium. He was high all night, so that may be where the confusion of how he felt comes from, but overall he loved it and wants to do it again very badly. He says he'll put another report up when he gets the chance to do a larger dose. ![]() |

Re: Opium and Poppy tea experiences
Hi guys, opium is rarely seen around here in Portugal; strangely it is very easy to find right next to us, in Spain;
SWIM's only experience with Opium was about 2 years ago when some spanish guys SWIM knew brought it from back home; SWIM got it like 3 or 4 times (1 gram each time) and that was a great experience by then, which reminded him so much to Heroin in many aspects, but milder of course... anyway by then SWIM hadn't touched Heroin for a long period of 4 and a half years when he decided to do that Opium and that was (more or less unexpectedly) the gateway to relapsing... |

Re: Opium and Poppy tea experiences
swim's 1st experience with some tar opium was quite magical. swim was chillin in his tv room with a gram of O, a candle, a straw, and some tin foil. then swim put on the tv (probably family guy) and lit the candle. then swim made a spoon out of tinfoil, and tore off a piece about the size of a match head, packed his improvised spoon, and let it sit on the flame. a little side note: opium is alot different than things like weed or tobacco when smoked. and will take a while for it to get going, but once it's lit, one can get quite a nice hit, and the O should be left on the flame while hitting. also, have it right above the flame, and not on it. as weird as it seems, swim has found is that it lights faster, and better. so, back to the story.... it took a little while before swim could figgure out the tricks to smoking, and ultimately got 2 solid hits of 2 matcheads (another note: break up the O, it'll light faster.) and now the good part! about 5 minutes after the 1st hit, swim started to feel great, like it was the 1st time swim's gotten high, but swim has plenty of experience with hydro/oxycodone, marijuana, alcohol, and has dabbled in dxm. swim turned off all the lights, and put on swim's headphones and played the classic Codeine by Quicksilver Messenger Service (great band to listen to on opiates) and was rolling around his couch singing along in complete extacy. swim has never found more potential in a drug than opium, as it just made swim love swim's self and everything around it. life was perfect. but then, around 15-20 minutes later (swim presumes, as time was non-existant) swim came back down. back to normal. and tired, since it was around 12-1am and swim had an eventful day, filled with anxiousness to have a nice time with the O. oh yea, the smell. smelled sooo goood. and can easily be pulled off as a lavender incence, so if you blaze up you're room, mommy or daddy won't know

Re: Opium and Poppy tea experiences
HAHA SWIM tried opium for the first time yesterday, after swim smoked fuul bowls 4/5ths weede 1/5 opium (roughly) SWIM walked down into his field... then when SWIM and co. decided to walk back SWIM and co. all got very lathargic with no cares in the wrld. SWIM and his friends decided to sit down in the middle of a gravel road and noone talked for about 45 minutes as everyone was content with the pretty body buzz they were feeling. At the same time SWIM was on E and very high so overall it was a very good expireence for swim

SWIM tried poppy seed tea for the first time today with a reasonably positive experience. she had been doing research about how to make it and dosing for a while and finally purchased 2lbs of seeds from a bulk supplier. she has a pretty high tolerance for opiates and has been using tramadol regularly for about 2 years, up to 1000mg a day (that was rare) and she had been tapering off to about 300mg a day recently.
so, because she had read alot of different things about potency, etc .. she decided to try a little less than 1 lb the first time. she used warm water and covered them by about an inch and shook them vigorously a few times for about 10 minutes. then, used a baking sieve to separate the 'tea' from the seeds. it was terrible and didn't do much except make her nauseous. ![]() so, a few hours later, she decided to try again .. she used the rest of the seed a little over a pound this time and used cold iced tea to mix. this time she let it sit for about 15-20 minutes, shaking every few minutes. and SQUEEZING the h*ll out of the seeds. this was about 30 minutes ago .. and SWIM feels my-tee fine. so, thanks to all for their advice, tips and recipes.

Re: Opium and Poppy tea experiences
SWIM experienced with poppy tea for the first time a couple days ago. However, the first time he did it, he only used 2 large poppies and he felt like that wasn't enough so he waited a couple days, and brewed up a batch of tea with 3. And then took another one roughly an hour later. SWIM loved the second experience, he just chilled in his computer chair and listened to Of Montreal and other psychedelic music and just chilled out on these forums. SWIM has always been a fan of opium related substances. He felt like he was wrapped in a warm blanket and was very content with himself, and the world. it was a wonderful experience and he hopes to experience it again within the next couple days.
Also, cooking dinner on it was a fun time as well. |

Re: Opium and Poppy tea experiences
My friend wants to know why the hell these poppies are called P. somniferum, because they aren't in the least bit somniferous to him! He drank some tea last night and spent all night drifting through various stages of consciousness - very pleasant it was too, he tells me - but had hardly any proper sleep at all. He felt fine today, just very sleepy from lack of same last night. He has wondered if the pods he's been getting have contained high levels of papaverine, which has a stimulant effect apparently, but he's noticed a similar thing with codeine, dihydrocodeine and even kratom. The term 'narcotic' generally seems quite inappropriate for these substances, since they keep him awake!
Anyone here got any info on this for him? |

Re: Opium and Poppy tea experiences
SWIM knows the poppy gives other alkaloids like papaverine and codeine. Papaverine is an opium alkaloid used primarily in the treatment of visceral spasm, vasospasm , and occasionally in the treatment of erectile dysfunction. Along with muscle spasms, etc.
SWIM has never really seen side effects of poppy tea being as keeping one awake. Sorry if SWIM couldn't really help you out. Poppy tea is a very pleasurable experience. |

Oh, absolutely, my friend loves the stuff - but he has a general tendency towards insomnia anyway, so it could just be a case of individual brain chemistry/metabolism, I guess.

Swim made drank a cup of poppy tea about 25 minutes ago (first time)
Feeling very pleasant, kind of hard to type though, my arms feel tired. It feels like a high codeine dose, enjoyable was expecting more, but its still very nice.

Re: Opium and Poppy tea experiences
No, it is a common reaction. When enough opiates are ingested then the "nod" or "warm blanket feeling" becomes apparent. When taken in dosages smaller than this many people with experience in speed like drugs will report a speedy effect. Opiates are actually a stimulant (look it up) with SOME effects that are to the contrary but are still classed as such.
Peace
