Grapefruit juice potentation with methadone

SWIM's wondering how effective grapefruit juice is for potentating methadone...say 5mg...?

SWIM discovered just two days ago that grapefruit juice does indeed potentate methadone.A good technique is dissolving the methadone in the grapefruit juice and then drinking it and then following it with more grapefruit juice SWIM found out.Not only does it potentate the methadone it makes the effects come on more rapidly.

Grapefruit juice will potentiate pretty much any opiate with the exception of codeine. SWIM has tried this, drinking the juice 45 minutes before taking the methadone. The methadone still took a couple hours to set in, but the peak did seem longer than usual, about 3 hours or so for SWIM. SWIY is wise to start with 5 mg, be careful about re-dosing though because many people think that the methadone isnt working, when it hasnt kicked in yet, and end up ODing.

What effects of methadone??? There are no effects, especially 5mg of it!!! It takes days to build up in your system before it even starts to work. That's why peopel OD on it, they take it and expect oxycodone type results which they will never get. So they take more and more and respitory depression is a heavy side effect with methadone.

Now that docs are allowed to prescribe methadone for pain more openly/legally, I feel we will see amounts like 1mg, .5mg.

SWIM has taken both oxy products and methadone and I must say, if SWIM didn't love oxy so much, SWIM would definitely be on meth for the DDD he has.

No cravings, excellent pain relief. A lot of times SWIM would miss his dose of meth cause it was working so good. Gotta wait 3 days for it to be at it's peak effectiveness. With the oxy, it's up down and a few hours after your dose starts to wear off, you're lookin at the clock countin the hours for the next dose. Not like that at all with methadone.

Now anyone know if orange juice has similar effects as grapefruit juice with potentating opiates? The other day SWIM took 5mg of methadone and could have sworn that drinking a glass of orange juice made it more euphoric...placebo maybe..

I think your whole situation is based on the "placebo effect" cause, and you can Google this info yourself, Methadone does not produce any euphoria. It just keeps addicts from getting sick which is what they get addicted to.

It takes DAYS for a patient to feel the effects of methadone. Poppin a 5mg methadone will do NOTHING, you'll feel NOTHING!!

btw......it's only Grapefruit juice and a certain kind of Grapefruit juice that potentiates only certain opiates. Does nothing for others. If you THINK you felt something extra cause you drank some orange juice, you certainly are on a planet all your own!

Can't edit my post sense I'm such a rebel but I forgot to add; yesterday SWIM picked up some Kroger brand 100% grapefruit juice extract. Will this work for potentating opiates?

If there is a certain type of grapefruit juice used to potentiate opiates, it should be posted in this thread, SWIMethinks. Even if it's found elsewhere on the forum, this IS a potentiation thread, regarding grapefruit juice specifically, so it should be posted.

Otherise, a surefire method of getting pure grapefruit juice is to buy a juicer and throw a grapefruit up in there. That would work rather nicely, SWIMethinks.

Would this work if a person injected the methadone, or does it only work when taken orally?

It's pretty pointless to inject methadone,for one methadone just isn't designed for that and methadones oral bioavailabillity pretty much takes away the need for injecting.As to if that would work if someone injected methadone I'm not so certain.

SWIM has a friend who injects methadone on a regular basis and he does it because he likes the rush, apart from the rush he said the buzz is pretty much the same as when taken orally but it doesn't last as long.

IVing a substance bypasses first-pass metabolism in teh liver. Since the grapefruit juice method works by inhibiting a particular liver enzyme (I forget which one), it's useless when IVing, as the substance goes straight into the bloodstream.

By injecting methadone are we talking about methadone syrup as in the kind seen in clinics or as in methadone tablets,most likely methadose?SWIM really can't see going through the trouble to inject methadose especially the orange flavored ones.

well first of all bangincolor swim would have to disagree, cause all of swims friends in highschool who take methadone, all pop a quarter of a 40mg tab and are fukd up all night (some even take half) and swim knows from personal experience he gets definate euphoria.

but anyways swim was wondering if he had 3/4 of a 40 mg pill and was planning on taken it over the next 3-4 days would there be any problems with it building up in swims system? swim has small opiate tolerance.

Regarding GFJ potentiation of methadone SWIM has been taking it roughly 30-45 minutes before he takes the meth. Hard for him to say if it really increases the effects or not. He should try it without some days.
Is his method likely to be most effective or could he enhance it further by taking some after he's taken the meth as well?

From SWIM's experience 100% unsweetened pure GFJ DOES potentiate certin opiates and will do so for Methadone.GFJ effects liver enzymes that help process certin opiates therefor allowing a good amount to go by.SWIM has also felt W/D's due to NOT drinking GFJ with his daily meds which he does every day with good results.

SWIM read somewhere that it is advised to take GFJ about 4 hours before you take your meds, as the effect of GFJ lasts a long time.
Does SWIMekone take the GFJ at the same time as his meds? SWIM would have difficulty doing this as he takes his meth under supervision.

SWIM usually starts to drink GFJ about an hour before doseing and then continues to drink it for awhile after.SWIM likes GFJ so he drinks it as much as one would drink water.Remember 100% pure GFJ not that sweetened/watered down crap is SWIM choice of beverage.

A couple of points SWIM had about GFJ and methadone. He has been told that the GFJ to be used with methadone/opiates in general is white GFJ, rather than pink GFJ. This is surprising to SWIM, as he has almost always used pink GFJ when trying to potentiate opiates. If it is the case that white GFJ is the right one to use, can anyone explain WHY? What's the difference? He's also heard differing reports as to whether fresh GFJ or the long-life stuff made from concentrate is the best to use. Again, anyone have any scientific/anecdotal evidence to submit?
