-Winston Churchill
Consumed impressive amounts of whisky, smokes big cigars, smoked opium. He got kicked out of college 2. Google can't find a source but I swear I saw it somewhere. Erowid gives him a mention for nitrous though. -Adolf Hitler Vegetarian, animal lover and in his latter days a major speedhead. -Elvis Presley: fuckin hypocrite. Had a badge straight from that bastard Richard Nixon, "for his anti-drug efforts". Meanwhile, Elvis used uppers, downers, and he snorted pure medical grade liquid cocaine (or a solution) by squeezing soaked cottonballs in his nose. |

The Floyd spent most of the 60's/early 70's tripping. Syd Barrett, original,(and many would say best!) singer and songwriter(check out Relics and his solo albums) was generally incapable of performing live due to the amount of acid he put in his hair gel before going on stage, and spent a large part of the 70's in psych wards...
Ken Kesey,R.I.P., author of 'One Flew over The Cuckoo's Nest' was one of the first people in the States outside the military to experiment with LSD, amongst other things(before Leary, and a lot more fun to be around in those days, so I'm told! 'Electric Kool Aid Acid Test' by Tom Wolfe is essential reading, as of course is 'Cuckoo's Nest'). Cary Grant liked a tab beside the poolside. Jim, Jimi, Janis and John of course, not forgetting Van Morrison, the Stones, the Dead(obvs), Stevie Wonder, George Clinton and Funkadelic, have all, allegedly, met up with Alice on occasion. David Bowie is on record as having "turned his brain to cobwebs" with amphetamines. The Founding Fathers of the Greatest Democracy on Earth all liked to wind down with a pipe of something nice after a hard day at the office. Even the present incumbent is a recovering alcoholic and pill popper - explains a lot, don'tcha think? Remember, kittlings, chemical dabbling is no guarantee of musical or artistic creativity, nor of ethical or humanitarian thinking. Hitler and Churchill being prime examples of the latter, although Churchill did seem to drop his views on racial purity later in life. Psychoactives can open your heart and mind to many possibilities, but not all of them are helpful or even worth thinking about. |
