Bleeding throat after smoking joint

A few days ago SWIM colleague give him a joint. She claimed that the weed is extremely strong. The joint was rolled with some kind of "tobacco paper" - very rude. So SWIM smoked the joint the weed was strong indeed, but shortly after when SWiM spit there was a lot of blood in his spitting and it wasen`t from the gums. Is it possible to hurt you throat wit hot and dense smoke ? And if you use cigarettes with filter or cigarette holder, will it weaken the effect of the weed to much ?

Ouch. Thats sounds nasty. Swim wouldn't have thought the weed would have done that? More likely the paper creating hot thick smoke, was it a blunt swiy was smoking? Swim has had very bad coughs and sore throat after blunts

Hi appreciate the feedback. No SWIM dont smoke cigarettes, and the weed was pure cos SWIM`s frend grow it herself and don`t sell it, it`s for her and close friends, so it`s not cut.

hmmm swia wonders on how swiy friend dried the weed when they harvested it and if they even bothered to cure it which may explain the harshness of the smoke.

Swim has seen this once.

When swim was on vacation with some friends, he had some hash which was very low on thc, so swim rolled joints with a lot of hash in it. The smoke was a bit harsh, but swim smokes a lot so he didn't have any problems with it. He can't tell you anything else about the hash because he bought it on vacation. The joints were L-joints out of normal size papers. One of swims friends always had a problem with excess mucus in his lungs. The day after smoking lots of that hash, he spitted blood which seemed to come out of his lungs (becuase he only spitted blood when trying to spit out mucus). He didn't smoke for a few days and after a day or 2 he felt fine again.

What type of "tobacco paper" was it? I mean Was it a blunt, paper, clear roll, etc.

Damn SWIM has never heard of this and well if it's not cut with glass or gritweed etc. then SWIM would like to know the cause

The paper was brown smeling of tobbaco and hard as a papper from a notebook. SWIM has his tonsils removed as a kid, if that is related somehow. No friend of SWIM had the same problem, but they smoke up to 20 normal cigarettes a day, maybe they are hardened somehow ?

As thick as notebook paper? That sounds like a possible cause right there. One should always smoke through as thin a paper as possible. SWIM recommends Smoking Slim:

Did you cough alot while smoking it? Swip would recomend seeing a doctor if it persists.

SWIM knows a guy that when first tried weed, he did 3 large hits of a killer bud (northern light). He later took a VERY large hit and cough a lot, and I do mean alot. 10 minutes later he was very sick, he got yellow-skin and projectile vomitted and his nose bled. After vomiting he was alright and refused going to the hospital. I assumed/supposed that the effort made when vomitting caused the nose capillaries to break.

Maybe when SWIY smoked, throat reacted and got irritated sp? in some sort of allergic way? I dunno but it is extremely rare that weed alone is the cause.

Is SWIY a regular smoker? Is his/her trhoat virgin?

Thick paper would defiantly be a big factor. Even if it didn't cause the bleeding it certainly doesn't help. As Natureboy suggested try a thinner skin.

SWIM went from smoking green rizzla to blue rizzla and hell the difference in paper means not only a nicer tasting joint but less coughing

Makes sense...has never happen to Smurf though. But inhaleing hot smoke and then accidentally inhaleing hot tibbers may have been the cause....? Also one could assume it may be there lungs bleeding as happens with heavy cig smokers.

Smurf recommends cellulose papers. Which is not paper and lacks all the additives involved in paper.

At any route avoid smokeing it as much as possible(vaping it or eating it instead) and when burned try to use glass(not metal,plastic,aluminum,etc.).

wait for the sight where the bleeding came from to heal. or see a doctor before u carry on smoking swia would if she had a incident like that

when younger and somewhat more delicate than i am now it was often the case that harsh smoke could make a person cough violently causing the capillaries in the throat to burst.
not life threaetening but pretty worrying until the cause was discovered.
it may not be anything to show concern over but its alwasys best to know for sure

Sounds bad, maybe SWIY had a blood blister or something on the inside of your cheek or gum that ruptured. See a doctor if it happens again.

it sounds like a blunt to swim, blunts hav only weed in but it could also be that glass weed shit or sandblast as i call it, that some1 mentoned before. if swiy smokes a pure blunt of that swiy will probably end up with a bleeding throat and most definately get at least a soar throat.
to test the bud if its got sand or glass in, swiy can bite a bit of it and if swiy gets a bad gritty feeling in swiy's mouth then its most likely sand, swiy can usually tell the difference between THC and sand cos THC is very solid

HI SWIY, SWIM says that the paper you smoked out of was a tobacco leaf. tobacco leaves are known for destroying the throat. People who smoke cigs are less likely to notice these effects because their throats are already ripped up from smoking. SWIY said SWIY does not smoke so the harsh tobbaco leaf paper like those of a cigar, is thick brown and smells like tobacco. Without further infor I can not be sure, but gargle with sea salt water if it hurts a bit you could have irritated strep that was recurring (what was the reason you had you tonsils out?) or be caused by the tobbaco cigar type paper ripping up your throat. If it persists after gargling for 2 days and SWIY does not smoke the paper again SWIY should see a doctor....
