I got an even better one. Get the 2001: A Space Odyssey dvd and put on the Jupiter chapter - where Dave goes through the space vortex and in the end is reborn as the star child - and simultaneously put on the song Echoes from the Pink Floyd album 'Meddle'. It syncs perfectly and is a insane and trippy ride of not too long duration. Or you could watch 2001: A Space Odyssey just as is, which is great anyways, probably one of my top three favourite movies of all time. Great music and visuals and its extremely abstract so there is little plot or dialogue to really follow besides what you interpret from the audio-visual presentation. Having seen it a few times before would make it even better as you would have a good idea of what's going on and could just put yourself into the reality of the film! |

Re: Best Movies On LSD
SWIM would suggest, after some research, that the best films to watch on lsd, if you havent seen them, are baraka, chronos, nagoyaqatsi, powaqqatsi, and koyaanisqatsi. These are AMAZING films, non-verbal documentaries, pure image, pure beauty, with an amazing impact.... also, not for the feint of heart, but SWIY should watch natural born killers, its amazing, SWIM swears there is much more to the movie while on acid, totaly new film... even lines that cant be made out sober, you can hear them, but cant make them out, unless SWIY is tripping, great times.

Re: Best Movies On LSD
One swim forgot was this show called the Boondocks on Adult Swim. It's animation is amazing (swim believes that they spend more on animating each episode than any other cartoon). It's also very very subversive towards modern American culture, and there's nothing swim likes better when tripping than criticizing society.
Swim doesn't really watch anime, but Dragon Ball Z is pretty sweet while tripping. |

Re: Best Movies On LSD
Many years ago, SWIM watched "Apocaylypse Now" on acid (he'd seen it before), both because the movie seems trippy in itself and he was a rabid Doors fan. Nothing special, except when he went to bed, he could recreate any scene at will--like turbocharged imagination.
SWIM is curious if anyone ever tried watching porn on acid. How'd that turn out? |

Re: Best Movies On LSD
A guy I used to know recommended two movies - " I once saw "Predator" in the theater on two doses of highly visual shit- amazing! The whole screen looked like the predator when it has the cloaking device operating! Also rented "Yellow Submarine" (Beatles' movie) and ate two tabs of "shit" acid. The 100 tab page had a picture of a guy and a word balloon in which he was saying "Oh, SHIT!". The movie made complete sense. Visually, well, me mouth was agape whenever I wasn't laughing! BTW- everything looked like the back cover of the Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour album cover- or is it Sgt. Peoppers', where everything is repeated, I don't remember." Unfortunately, I don't see that guy too often anymore as I am married w/family. Too bad, 'cuz That guy had some good fun!

Kaena the Prophecy - CGI to the hilt baby. Tripping masterpiece cleverly disguised as a kids movie. Can be enjoyed on many levels. Truly fits the term "eye candy" Also like Fantastic Planet, Wizards, and Rock and Rule

Re: Best Movies On LSD
Personally watching movies on LSD sucks! Why; it keeps you grounded for one, keeps you from properly tripping (from what i remember) drifting away, so to speak. Unless you're only taking small amounts, just for a head high/experience, then sure its fine. Though I have come across allot of folks who where to afraid to completely let go of reality and drift away like i use to like to do, but thats OK.
If I was to recommend one, only because I once turned on the tube while tripping during the wee hours of the morning. A flick called "The Adventures of Baron Münchhausen" comes to mind, was playing on the tube, OMG what a trip that was. ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096764/posters ) From what i remember; It was so, surrealistic! cheers |

Re: Best Movies On LSD
It's been years, but these two always did the trick:
The Stunt Man O Lucky Man! The second film is quite hard to find - it's not out on DVD, but I highly recommend it regardless of any chemical refreshment. |

Re: Best Movies On LSD
That is an amazing movie. I ditto the suggestion because it is a must see for anybody tripping. The movie visually tries to simulate the experience of a various trips, so watching them while actually tripping out is trippiest.

Re: Best Movies On LSD
It would appear Amazon.com has a link to reccommendations based on the exact criteria. The heading is even titled:
Best Visuals (or movies to watch on hallucinogens) Overall a pretty misleading list. There are some good films on there no doubt, but the majority are merely related somehow to drug use. And if not then they made it on there because they are not your typical recycled hollywood backwash. I couldn't imagine trying to watch something like fight club, or natural born killers while on LSD. With the amount of attention needing to be payed to it's plot twists, especially if watching it for a first time, this would surely make the experience very confusing. Requiem for a dream making it onto a list like that completely eludes me. "Let's drop acid and watch a movie about the perils of Heroine addiction". On second thought, maybe if used as a tool for helping one tackle addiction, it might be helpful. But I digress....the only ones I can vouch for as being worthy of taking space on that list like that are the following: #4.Waking life #7.Tron 20th Anniversary collector edition (altho the original will do just fine) #24.The mind's eye. Waking life is Richard Linklater's crowning achievement and the most original animated film I have ever seen. Tron is.. well it's Tron, enough said. And The mind's eye is and absolutely stunning visual experience. Now movies that should have made it onto the list: Baraka, The classic Wizard of Oz, and Pink Floyd's, the Wall should be #1 |

I agree with your suggestion of Barak for sure, but I think the Wall, for all its trippiness, should be kept to really experienced trippers or people who are looking for an intense ride. Swim watched it after taking alot of gravity bong rips of good hash (and continued to take during the film) and got really dark vibes from some parts. Didn't help he hadn't seen it before either. The worst was when there was silence and the camera just centers on the wall and nothing happens for a bit. Swim breathed a huge sigh of relief at the nice calm and let himself relax a bit and then the freaking thing exploded with full-on surround sound effects to rattle the shit out of him and make his heart try to jump out of his chest. That wasn't too fun. Swim has seen it many more times since then and can watch it really high, but he doesnt have a desire to see it on acid really. |

Scarface, haha... odd huh?
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Manic Donnie Darko Eternal Sunshine for the Spotless Mind... and if SWIM's not too effed up - Requiem of a Dream... with a small buzz it's a bit more vivid. |

I think Donnie Darko would be scary. Only because it's very deep and all about controlling time; which would make for a frightening experience while someone is lost in their mind..

Re: Best Movies On LSD
well, i think i said earlier that i was never one for movies while doing that activity, but while said activity was a big part of my life i loved a show called nowhere man. It was only on for one season and i never heard about it again. it was linda like a mixture of 24 and total recall. It was about a photographer who took a picture of some people being hung if i remember right and one day he woke up and his family didnt know who he was and his job was gone he was basicly a man who had his entire existance stripped away and didnt know why or by who he then had to figure out who they were why they were trying to kill him and how they seemingly got his family and friends in on it. i dont know what make me think about this show as it was on in 1995 but im going to google it. id like to see it again. it was done kind of like the show 24.
I wonder if i liked the show because doing lsd was kind of like taking the blinders off and having to relearn what everything is. |

Alice In Wonderland (Of course) The Labrynth My Neighbor Tortoro Ferngully: The Last Rainforest Who Framed Rodger Rabbit? James and the Giant Peach Shrek Monsters Inc. |

Re: Best Movies On LSD
SWIM loves watching dr house and monk (both having here on DVD) while tripping. Monk gets that hilarious and at the same time SO understandable...
and dr house... yeah awesome while sober and even more awesome when tripping. though, SWIm absolutely cant follow the doctor terms and is always holding wikipedia open to get deeper into the matter. |
