Intense movies for E!
Any one know of any good intense movies to watch on E. when SWIM does E he usually likes to watch a movie like the Animatrix. Some of the episodes on the DVD are really intense and artsy even though i'm normally very turned off by japanese animation.
Any other suggestions for good movies to watch while rolling? |

Requiem For A Dream
You will never, ever, be able to look at certain drugs the same way again. (or the fridge) lol, swim remembers his friend rolling while watching troy with him in the cinema. Apparently the fighting scenes were a bit much for his friend who was almost shaking himself off the chair. He recommends you watch the film on a big screen with surround sound for optimum effect. Watch an action type movie like Die Hard, or the opening scene from Saving Private Ryan. Trainspotting seems like it would also be good as the soundtrack is amazing but swim wouldn't know personally about that. The best movie swim can truly endorse to watch on E is Baraka. You can find more about it here ---> http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103767/ You can watch a scene from it here ---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCdIRjMFz7g Its a nature type film with no dialogue. Just streaming music and images that are beautifully put together and that make you really think about life, your place in the world, and many other things. Excellent film for MDMA. BajEdit: Here is another awesome clip from the movie ----> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJhVM930YXY Last edited by Bajeda; 06-08-2006 at 20:14. |

SWIM would reccomend something like apocalypse now, but that would probably bad trip alot of people. but its psychological enough to the point where maybe that could offset some of the violence for some viewers. personally swim enjoys that film no matter what he's on.

SWIJ has to say that nature documentaries do the trick for her (with the sound turned off!). Something like "The Blue Planet" which has lots of trippy glow in the dark squid and penguins works wonders. (Penguins are always good). Volcanos are also good (Living Planet: More David Attenborough than is healthy).
She is always astonished by the amzing cleverness/make senseness of nature that overcomes her when she sees that stuff. She always found Requiem for a Dream to be a shallow, bleak and horrifying film, and not in any good way. |

If not I highly recommend that swij sees it as it is basically a long extended nature/human documentary except with awesome music instead of dialogue, so swij can enjoy the beautiful images without having to put the movie on mute. |

Even if a bit dated i have no doubt that the most drug-friendly feature lenght movies ever produced are the works of Jodorowsky, like "El Topo" (my all times favourite) or "The sacred mountain".
I would´nt know where right now, but I´m pretty sure that both can be found on the web and freely downloaded in torrent form. Baraka, while quite entertraining, in my opinion comes only after ALL productions of the "Panic movement" (the parisian movement of Jodorowsky and Arrabal). On a less cultural and elitist note I truly belive that if you have smoked something interesting and you are in good company hardly anything beats the old B/W movies and shorts of Laurel & Hardy . Am I irremediably childish? VV. |

More than T & J I prefer the stories of Vyl Coyote & Road Runner or Bugs Bunny.
Recently I downloaded and burned on DVD some classic episodes of Road Runner ostensibly for my little daughter´s entertrainement ( she will be 2 y.o. in about 3 weeks), but after a while we were looking at them she got very annoyed and then she started to cry because she fely sorry for the poor coyote. It made me wonder at what time in our lives we become so cynical and sadist to be able to laugh for a character misfortunes and what kind of experiences and influences bring about this change. VV. |

Ok swim just remembered a movie he watched tripping that was extremely intense and that he had to turn off after one scene becauese it was just too intense for him to handle.
In fact the scene in particular is hard to handle while sober, so swim can only imagine what it would be like on E. The movie is called In This World and it is about the journey of two Afghani refugees from Pakistan to London. The film is based on a true story (one of the actors is the guy its based on) and is filmed on location in a very documentary like style. It feels as if you are there alongside the refugees as they make their journey. This movie is extremely intense in parts, light-hearted in others, and absolutely heartbreaking in others. If you take E and watch this movie expect to be in tears at several parts, and expect to have your emotions shattered into a million pieces by the time the credits roll, so you better leave a few hours of come-down to piece yourself back together again. You can find info on the film here ----> http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0310154/ It may be hard to find the film depending on where you are (I had to order it off amazon) but its an excellent film and will probably break your heart if you should watch it on MDMA. |

My all time favourite movie is "Bad Boy Bubby". Seriously, check this one out with or without MDMA, but I'm sure MDMA would really enhance the experience as it's messages about society are a real revelation.
" Many people have found this movie overly confronting and ultimately very disturbing. If you give it a chance it gets you thinking and had me laughing uncontrollably. Some of Bubby's interactions with the outside world were hilarious. It's far from a comedy though, and will bring you through many emotions before the movies over." IMDB review Also, check out "Powaqqatsi". It features the wonderful music of Philip Glass (minimalist classical composer) and some truly breathtakingly stunning footage of different landscapes and societies from around the world. "Powaqqatsi revolutionized my concept of the world -- Go ahead and laugh! The film shows a vastness and variety and energy in the world that was beyond anything I could have imagined when I went into the theater. Everything is presented for what it is; there's no Western narrator to reassure you and tell you what everything means. There is perhaps no higher praise for a film than saying it changed the way I think, and Powaqqatsi deserves that praise." IMDB review (I would HIGHLY reccommend this film to both Bajeda and Jatelka )And since you mentioned Animé, I would also highly reccommend "Akira". "'Akira' is not for everyone. In the first twenty minutes we have strong language, an attempted rape and the kinetic carnage of a fight between rival biker gangs. Some will simply not tolerate this in an animated movie which is, despite all efforts, going to be viewed by younger children. Even if you can stomach the unsavoury content, you might be beaten by the sheer oddness of Japanese culture. (They certainly have an unhealthy obsession with seeing Tokyo laid to waste.) But if you can skip over these points and see the overall genius of Akira, you may just appreciate Akira's place on the pantheon of modern culture." IMDB review |

SWIM got an idea about romantic movies. SWIM istn't so fond of them while sober. but how about watching one with a GF, or girl you want to "fall in love with you"? SWIM suspects it would be an intense experience, which really bonds

These aren't movies and are fairly short but they might be good for E. The first one is great and swim likes to watch it, though he hasn't got a chance to watch it on E yet. Even if you don't like F1 its quite moving.
The second one is good if you watch the Daily Show and was in the US during 9/11 (swim wasn't). He wouldn't really want to watch it on E but he figures that if someone was deeply affected by 9/11 they may enjoy this. 1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORs-8GT6SMU 2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkuqoTseUPo |

Re: Intense movies for E!
SWIM was looking for a Baraka torrent (SWIM was - file sharing is illegal, I stay well clear of it), but all he could find were over 3GB. Is Baraka exceptionally long or detailed or something? Maybe its only available in HD? Theres one torrent called The Boys From Baraka thats only 700MB which seems about right, but I don\'t want to spend two days downloading a gay porn movie, which is what it sounds like.

Re: Intense movies for E!
Its definitely not that. The title is just one word, Baraka. Swiy could maybe go to a local library (if its one that has a film section) or try one of the bigger video stores in his area. He could maybe find it there.
With a movie like Baraka where the visual images themself are so key to your perception of the movie I would try to get an actual DVD copy rather than a rip online. You will appreciate the difference in quality, trust me. |

Yeah, I realised that when I saw a clip on YouTube. At one point couldn\'t tell if I was watching clouds, fish or animals. I\'ll have a look. I imagine it being an original back-drop to SWIMs next E session.

FINDING NEMO!! A nice handsome young man who has 500 girlfriends thinks this movie is also pretty bad ass on acid. The graphics and the visuals go hand in hand. |

Light destorys Smurf's roll, T.V. or from a computer monitor. Will never watch movies while rolling, maybe while comeing down though. Doesn't sound to fun. Things like visualizers are the best. Video Games are always fun for a come down too, or while tripping, off topic but still fun.
Buuuuuutttttttt....Pink Floyd's The Wall, A Scanner Darkly(cool real life movie, written over with cartoon. Makes a pretty neat effect, should be even better high) or Spun. Last edited by AntiAimer; 09-02-2007 at 10:15. |

With that said, I think Battlestar Galactica would also be something good to watch while rolling. It is a very intense show that deals with a great number of deep philosophical issues that can be applied to the contemporary world with little imagination necessary. I think complete movies can be a bit overwhelming to watch while rolling since they consist of so much information (or mindless action which is often worse). It depends on the movie of course, but swim now feels that a show could be much more suitable to watch on MDMA as since shows are continuations of a story they don't need all the foundational building of setting and characters and plot. This would go well with a roll, as since you can empathize and connect with people naturally you don't need the director/actors to take time to develop the characters as they often would in a movie. If you watch an episode of a show that is already ongoing all you need is some background/commentary (or maybe if you just see a new episode of a show you have already been following) and you can be fully immersed in it and then still have plenty of 'roll' time left afterwards to discuss with friends, etc. |
