Brown Speed?

SWIM got a gram of speed today and the powder is brown? SWIM has never seen or heard of brown speed before, is this actual speed or could it be heroin or some other substance?

It is possible that's it's from the amphetamine family, but from what friends have said, Meth is now being made in this country and it's a brown colour. i doubt anyone would try and sell H as speed as their effect is completely different (never tried H tho).

SWIM has, in the past seen, pale brownish, or at least very off-white amphetamine sulfate. Sometimes it is badly made and not cleaned properly. But be careful. It could be something else, something more toxic. The correct colour is, obviously, white. (It is almost certainly not heroin, as that's much more expensive. )

As a safer idea might be worth considering using a well known pill testing kit before you take any, which shows if speed/meth is present

Methamphetamine in its pure hydrochloride salt form is colorless. However, products on the market today are often not colorless. The following is a table of some common impurities and the colors associated with them. Note: There is no doubt a segment of the dealers who will add food coloring or some other such color to their drug to make it more appealing, with the philosophy that a brightly-colored product may sell better than an off color product. This is relatively uncommon however.

• RED: The product was made from pseudoephedrine, and the red coloring of the tablet was not adequately washed away (it is difficult)
• ORANGE: Ephedrine sulfate was used, and some of the sulfate was reduced to sulfur.
• PURPLE: Iodine from a phosphorus-iodine reaction was not washed out.
• GREEN: Copper (or other metallic) salts somehow made their way in to the mixture, probably due to the reaction vessel used in the manufacture.
• BROWN: Oxidized red coloring or tablating agent was present in the reduction.

If this was heroin put a little on a spoon and add water warm until it boils slightly. If its broke down its probably not gear as some sort of acid would need adding. Swim has had brown speed before, plus is there no obvious cats piss smell?

Yep, a few years ago swim came across some brown meth. It was speed but a lot weaker than what swim usually finds. Return it and get your money back.
