Re: Favotite stimulant for study

Coffee or tea does the job nicely for SWIM, preferably kept to several cups/day or less. It may just be placebo, but SWIM enjoys the flavor and heat of the drink and that enhances studying (including online research) in and of itself.

Re: Favotite stimulant for study

For studying or doing academic work, swim finds dexmethylphenidate to be one of the better stimulants available. Methylphenidate doesn't do much for him and has too many irritating side effects, and adderall can get him a bit too speedy to concentrate properly if he goes above a certain amount. Focalin fits right in the middle for him, so while he wouldn't use it to do an energetic room cleaning in all likelihood, he wouldn't mind having it for doing research for a paper or studying.

as for methylphenidate ... why use a sub par amphetamine lookalike when adderall is as easily accessable along with far more potent

Because they're different. Amphetamine has much more affinity for norepinephrine, and for this reason SWIM prefers methylphenidate. SWIM suspects methylphenidate may have some additional anticholinergic activity independent of the main action, but piracetam does a good job of taking care of this.

And methylphenidate is the only strong stimulant available in the majority of the world, besides of coke, which is way too short acting to be useful for studying.

swim enjoys yerba mate and guarana liquid extract, followed by cup after cup of tea, gives real staying power.

Re: Favorite stimulant for study?

Caffeine and Cocaine are useless at helping SWIM concentrate, especially caffeine.

Not a stimulant per sé, but I think it's relevant to mention that I've read reports of small doses of LSD being good for work - a low active dose. LSD's hard enough for many SWIMs to find though, without the added complication of finding a source that you can accurately dose with.

Re: Favorite stimulant for study?

LSD does indeed seem to act as a smartdrug in low does, improving cognitive functions and making dull, boring work much easier.

Re: Favorite stimulant for study?

stimulants help SWIM out a lot for studies. he mostly leans toward adderall, but most of the others seem applicable, except meth, meth doesnt really seem to apply,SWIM doesnt go near the stuff, but SWIM imagines that it would be kind of hard to focus while wondering why all the birds were staring at him.
