Heparin in heroin syringe question

SWIM recently aquired an Arterial Blood Sampling Kit with Dry Lithium Heparin. On the side it says contains Heparin Do Not Inject, but SWIM was wondering if the Heparin could we washed out. Looking it up on Wiki, SWIM found that: "Heparin is a highly sulfated glycosaminoglycan widely used as an injectable anticoagulant. It is also used to form an inner anticoagulant surface on various experimental and medical devices such as test tubes and renal dialysis machines. Pharmaceutical grade heparin is commonly derived from mucual tissues of slaughtered meat animals such as porcine intestine or bovine lung." - wikipedia

SWIM was wondering if he can use this after it's been washed out. In the package the plunger's already pulled back about 2 units, and SWIM didn't know if that was where the Heparin was or not.

It's still in the package. Would it be possible to trade it at a pharmacy? Swim's buddy said it was usable, and swim went to a pharmacy trying to purchase a syringe and they said he needed a prescription (for like insulin probably) which is bull because Illinois has a law allowing an individual to purchase up to 20 needles at a time. Swim has lots of friends that are totally against needles, so how could he go about getting one?
The "Dry Lithium" part scared swim the most. That stuff can't be good for you. (there's no place on the internet discussing injecting the stuff)

If something says do not inject on it there is usually a good reason. What SWiY has is a syringe with a coating of heparin lithium on the inside, used to delay the clotting of blood after a blood sample has been taken.

I can't find any info on water solubility (msds (material safety data sheets) say this information is unknown), how much heparin is used to coat the inside of equipment such as this, or what heparin would do to a healthy individual with no history of angina, deep vein thrombosis or clotting problems (thinning one's blood unnecessarily is not a good idea however). Also, can SWiY guarantee that the syringe has not been used? If it has it may still contain traces of blood.

The best & safest thing SWiY could do with this is take it to a pharmacy or A & E/Emergency Room for disposal in a clinical waste bin.

SWiY buddy is wrong. Just tell SWiY to say he found it on the street & hand it in. Chances are this came from a hospital - yer average civilian has no real call to be taking blood samples, so a pharmacy won't have anything they can trade it for, not generally stocking items such as this. To be honest, if I was a pharmacist I'd be very suspicious if someone came in trying to swap an item like that for anything, let alone syringes or needles.

The Dry Lithium refers to the type of Heparin used.

It's killing swim not getting his fix. he stuck an alcohol pad in the syringe and pushed it in with the plunger, so he obviously got the syringe clean, it's just the needle to worry about. I obviously can't expect anyone to give a heads up and have swim die on us, it just seems like it should be ok. It couldn't kill him though, could it? Maybe swim needs to call a medical hotline.

A needle exchange program might be better able to answer one's question, or perhaps attempt go to a different pharmacy and ask the pharmacist? SWIM would advise against using this needle, as it seems SWIY has made a similar wise decision. Perhaps SWIY could just smoke or snort the heroin until he can acquire a clean syringe? But most needle exchange programs will give first time visitors a couple of free or cheap needles, to SWIM's understanding? Calling a medical hotline wouldn't be a bad idea either, as long as its anonymous.

SWIM has no idea where any needle exchange programs are, living in a small town. One would think that a pharmacy should have to sell them. Where do most people get theirs at?
Oh yeah, and SWIM did use the needle, after letting his friend use it with no bad results. It felt strange, sort of like a sick feeling, but not from the dope. Where could SWIM purchase, say, a box of 100 insulin syringes. I don't guess that he could use one for an animal. It seems like it would work, it just seems kindof F'ed up.

SWIY really shouldnt be sharing needles...and most states allow needles to be purchased at pharmacies, don't they? Perhaps SWIY should try a different pharmacy next time.

swim gets pins from internet pet supply store. They sell slin pin for pets cheap. a box of a 100 is about 30 bucks, but rules are rules, no sourcing, just a tip. right. If this counts as sourcing, I am very sorry, please remove post or allow me too, just trying to avoid swiy from using dirty pins. please don't do that to your veins, they won't last long that way, neither will you.

no swim had four of them. swim won't ever share a needle. so I guess you can use pet pins? SWIM tried two different pharmacies and a hospital, but he knows where to get animal ones. any size you want. and yeah, he won't be able to do it over the internet... and what animal size would work best? I'm guessing dog or cats?

If SWiB_C can safely & legally get syringes & needles from a veterinary supplier, why risk arrest by stealing from a hospital, especially when his sister is there? What's more important here - SWiYour sister or a fix?

use needles for insulin, refered to as slin pins, 29 guage, 3/4", 1cc, something like that for swim's dog's diabetes.

SWIM was thinking about asking for one at the hospital (just saying I needed a clean one because mine wasn't clean). SWIM actually was diagnosed with a lung disease a few days ago (forgot the name), and the nurse told him not to be around stuff like powder (working at a cakemix factory and stuff like that) because most of the disease is from inhaling powder. SWIM also snorts a lot of things, so that's probably not good at all...

and are there insulin pins for animals? SWIMs going to the store tommorow to get some, and as it seems to be illegal to purchase human needles, it seems like it would for animals too.

and SWIMS sister is in the hospital because of her breathing, and she snorts a LOT of dope. a LOT alot.

SWIM just got a three pack of 3CC Vetrinary syringes. The needles just a little bigger (in width) and it kind of hurts when it goes in and stays sore up to an hour later. Other than that though, SWIMs happy to have a new source for cheap rigs.

BTW, when heating the spoon, should swim barley heat until the dope dissolves or should he let it actually boil? swim always loses dope when boiling, but barley heating doesn't make it clear enough..
