Shooting heroin while on methadone

Did a search for info on this and was really surprised not to find anything.

Methadone is one of, if not the most popular detoxification/maintenance program for heroin addicts. I'm sure that often people on maintenance methadone programs still shoot H.

SWIM has a friend on methadone who occasionally shoots dilaudid and says he needs more than he should to get off. Then in Trainspotting, Renton shoots H while on methadone and ODs. Looking for comments from people who can comment on the effects of shooting H while on maintenance methadone.

While swim was on methadone he did shoot heroin. There was never any rush shooting heroin on methodone and the rush was swims favorite part. A slight increase in other effects in proportion to how much H swim used(as expected) but the combination mostly increased swims nods.

SWIM was on 150mg of methadone a day and attempted to shoot dope several times with no effects at all...

Isn't it that as methadone is a longer acting agonist than heroin it blocks the euphoric effects of it but that once the methadone has worn off you'd need a higher dose of it than before,as well as a double-addiction of both if done repeatedly,& from experience methadone is one bad mutha to come off!

SWIM would like to report that a methadone does make shooting dope pretty lame... is like putting ear plugs in. a double addiction IS a bad mutha to come off of!!! DO NOT let yourself get a double habit. (please excuse the caps!) but SWIM has done the withdrawel from both cold.... and it took almost a month to sleep normally again! not to mention the other nasty withdrawels.

When SWIM first started his methadone program, and was on 30-40mgs, and until about 80mgs a day, he could shoot heroin and instead of only a rush, he would get even more wasted, than either alone.. But, when his dose increased to near 70-80mgs, and eventually up to 100, he got no effect at all.. So, SWIM's conclusion is, that low doses of methadone (for addicts) can potentiate the high, but a maintenance dose of methadone, when combined with heroin, is nearly pointless..
