Opinions - Proof that LSD is as safe as houses!

SO we've all heard the propoganda:

"LSD cuases brain damage."
"Take LSD more then seven times and your legally insane."
"Lsd turns your brain literally to water."

Here's my argument:
How can a drug that, cuases all these problems, be dangerous when it's inventor and the first person to ever ingest it live to 101 years old?

Any comments?

I think LSD is mentally healthy for it's users. I really do. And Albert hoffman is the man!!

I don't think that's the best argument about safety of LSD, it's quite anecdotal. But it's a nice "Did you know" -type of piece of info that's nice to know and slip in as a btw-fact when speaking to a drug intolerant person.

Anecdotal I will admit, but SWIM has done a lot of LSD and continues to use LSD and will, with all probability, use it a lot in the future. Never had a bad trip or any ill effects of any kind. SWIM continues to function very well in a very stressful, fast paced working life and, again purely anecdotal, suffers no adverse side effects. SWIM says it's safe in moderation. But that is purely from SWIM's standpoint.

Please expand on this. You too please Trebor. Why do you actually think LSD is good for you mentally? What difference has lsd made to your marmoset's, or those around him/her's, mental health? A bit of research to back up any anecdotal claims would be nice too...

Well from Cookie Monster's own personal experience, LSD has expanded his mind, changed his views about things, and in some cases, made him feel happier and more secure about himself ever since he's come to realize how to look at the bright side of things. Basicly LSD has made him a brighter individual. But that's his own personal opinion. You may think it has nothing to do with the LSD, but he seems to think so. If he could show you a before and after documentation he would, but he's got none, so if you want to believe it, then believe it, if not, then don't. And only if SWIM has ever tripped will SWIM be able to know what Cookie Monster is talking about.

I would also like to state that I read somewhere that LSD can act as an anti depressant at low doeses.

I wouldn't call LSD totally safe... You don't want to drop acid every other week unless your goal is becoming an acid casualty.
Everything in moderation, nothing in excess.

I'm not negating your post here, but I would like to know what, in your opinion, constitutes an "acid casuality."

SWIM recently tried acid for the first time -- SWIM rarely does anything but alcohol but likes to experience everything at least one, SWIM had done anything but acid or E.

SWIM did acid for the first time and made the mistake of taking 3 hits. SWIM was having a great trip but about 6 hours in SWIM could not understand anything anyone was saying. SWIM made the mistake of staring at the clock for about 5 hrs. This made SWIM constantly stare at the clock after his trip, he is slowly getting back to normal.

SWIM would like to try acid again if he removes all ability to even look at a clock. SWIM would like to try it early in the morning and spend a day enjoying it. SWIM thought everything was so beautiful. SWIM seems to be nicer to people now. SWIM still has butterflies in his stomach from the trip but hopes they will pass.

I knew a man who perhaps was an "acid casulty." He has to get dental work because his teeth are messed up from chattering on acid too much.

He also had no personality but does not know how much he did acid or if he had one before it.

But if acid was so horrible perhaps we would be able to read more about it from the 60s where everyone and their Mom was screaming "Peace Not War" while seeing colorful bears, trees, and clouds.

LSD seems to be a drug of fairly low toxcity and used moderatly is not likely do any long term harm and does have great potential for benefit

It's simple. LSD isn't dangerous if used responsibly. It wouldn't be dangerous at all to users of average intellect given the right education on it beforehand. Unfortunately though dumbasses exist and the information is ignored.

LSD increases brain activity, or better to say lowers the natural brain activity break mechanism. Therefore will a sane person notice an enhanced sensual perception that he (she) has to learn to comprehend (handle). Unfortunately an insane person will also suffer increased insanity. Can't say that this makes LSD dangerous, it just proves that short of knowledge is dangerous.

For those who likes conspiracy theories; LSD is dangerous because it enhance [unwanted] brain activity -- people might start to think!

When SWIM was tripping, at one point, sentences no longer made sense and SWIM could not understand what anyone was saying, SWIM simply could not comprehend any of it, SWIM was scared.

I'm curious, are you saying it increases sensory perception by showing us things that are actually there but a "normal" person does not, or cannot, notice?

Normally the major part of information of men's sensual perception is filtered unconsciously. By LSD the unconscious perception filter barier is lowered as well the brain activity enhanced. This causes a stream of information one has to learn to handle, if not handled properly one start to 'trip', or better, loose the reality as one knows.

Seeing gnomes is not only happen on LSD, Swim experienced this also on high quality hash/weed mix smoked from a bong. Swim found the latter is more difficult to control then a 250 μg LSD experience.

The enhenced activity is well noticed after the 'trip' is over, one really see things more clear and detailed then 'normally'. One is also more able to complete the jigsaw of information -- seeing links one didn't noticed before.

This altered, enhenced, state can also be reached without an 'trip' by using a small amount of LSD (less then 100 μg, Swim prefer 50-60 μg). In fact Swim found that such small amounts can be an add when doing a study or preparing an examination.

Mmmm, isn't going a bit offtopic? The topic is "Proof that LSD is as safe as houses!" There is no proof, but then since when are houses safe? The majority of accidents are happen at home! Some houses are safer then others, but meanly because the caretaker of the house. And likewise the caretaker of the house is of great importance for its safety, the applier of LSD is too.

Yeah, but that claim is similar to "most car accidents happen when the driver is near home." But, this is because when most people are driving they are near the house anyways, just like people spend most of their time at home. It would be interesting to see a comparison between ratios for "time spent at home / # of accidents" and "extent of LSD use / bad trips & negative health effects."
