yeah why is that....swim hasn't touched weed in over a year....but remembers that marijuana greatly enhances the subjective effects of all opiates.

strange considering marijuana doesn't interact with any opiates receptors or have anything to do with dopamine.

Honestly, I don't really know much about the mechanism of action of marijuana but I'm guessing it would act just like the Meth/Heroin combo works.By combining two drugs that produce euphoria in two different ways, you get much more euphoria overall.I mean that's just my theory, haven't tried the combo either.

SWIM has never considered smoking cannabis while on opiates. Or maybe SWIM has, but it wasn't really memorable enough to do again. Kind of a waste of both drugs.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I meant by a different kind of euphoria, as in happiness but also some body euphoria can be felt with marijuana although it is pretty different from opiate euphoria...

heres a question, based on what swim has heard around these parts
correct me at any point swim is wrong

apparently the ceiling dose for codeine is around 400mg, and the way i understand it codeine isn't a problem until it passes to the liver where it turns to morphine, suggesting that one overdoses on morphine or inability to breathe.

so how can 800+mg, the "lethal" doses be any more dangerous than the ceiling dose ? the swim understands the ceiling dose is that the excess isnt processed . . . so how can 1000mg be more dangerous than say, 400mg.

Well, first of all codeine has opioid activity by itself and although above ~400mg codeine is much weaker (as in 800mg is a stronger than 400mg,but not twice as strong).Plus, codeine can be dangerous in high doses due to histamine release and not just respiratory depression.

SWIM was stupid and took 250mg today at 3:00pm and took next 250mg tonight at 9:30pm... This is his first time with codeine... SWIm is scared of dying... He feels a little bit sleepy but he thinks he is fine... He was soooooo stupid... he will never do this again... What should he do right now?? Is there something that kills the effects of codeine?? Like drinking water or whatever?? Please he needs a fast response!

Well I really really wouldn't worry, 500mg spaced over a good few hours isn't that big of a dose by any means. Don't panic and you will be absolutely fine, just make sure swiy knows his tolerance and doses safely next time!

500mg over 24 hours should be okay if you have tolerance.

Actually 500mg taken all at once is my new limit. Anything over that, and I start to feel more negative effects than positive ones. Wait 24 hours, then another 500mg goes down the shute.

Codeine hepatically converts into 10% to 15% of its total mg into Morphine depending on the hepatic efficiency and metabolism of the person in question.

This means that 30mg will converts into roughly 3mg to 5mg of Morphine. However it takes time to hepatically convert itself completely. Usually around 1 hour to 2 hours. Codeine has a ceiling effect @ around 400mg. In terms of conversion this is only 40mg to 60mg of Morphine.

The short answer would be, yes a person could OD on Codeine but probably only if that person were opiate naive. 40mg to 60mg of Morphine wouldnt be much to some recreational users but to someone whom was either sensitive to opiates or opiate naive it could pose a problem.

One also has to remember that there is no further conversion for bioavailability. Once the Codeine is converted hepatically to Morphine it is immediately bioavailable because it is already being introduced into the bloodstream.

Hey all, was just wondering, SWIM preferes dihydracodeine and she's heard that it's roughly twice the strength of codeine, does the same rule go for OD'ing? As in, since the LD50 for codeine is 800mg, the LD50 for dihydracodeine is 400mg?
Does this make sense or is SWIM completely off?

As for an LD50 dose: Different authorities list the maximum daily dose for dihydrocodeine as being anywhere from 240 mg to 720 mg.
