Re: Interactive Tool for checking drug interactions
This tool might be useful, but it is obviously intended for OTC and prescription medications, no illegal drugs. Methamphetamine isn't on the list (even if it is ADD medication in the US - Desoxyn), MDMA, Diamorphine, phencyclidine, etc. not there. It might be useful, but other sources are better.

Re: Interactive Tool for checking medication interactions
Any chance of sharing these info sources Paracelcus? I for one would appreciate them, as I'm sure would other members.
Considering who this is aimed at this appears to be a pretty comprehensive list of the most widely prescribed medications & most widely used herbs at the moment. The examples you give are rarely (Desoxyn, from the info I can find, diamorphine) or never (pcp, mdma) prescribed in humans. Adderall (amphetamine & dextroamphetamine), dexamfetamine (d-amp) & various forms of ephedrine are included, as is morphine & other pharmaceutical opiates. Blatantly not the same, but should give some sort of an idea. Is the research there to justify interactions with illicit drugs? Are the rarely prescribed ones that chemically diferent to the ones listed that they would have different reactions? |

If one knows what pharmacological properties a drug has (kicks serotonin/dopamine, it's stimulant, downer, etc.), dangerous combinations can be foreseen. That thread I couldn't find had drugs categorized and the dangerous combinations where between categories of drugs, not particular drugs. It would be a nice thing to have such an easy to use tool, but designed for illicit drug use. Could prevent lots of deaths. |

Re: Interactive Tool for checking medication interactions
Here is another tool for checking interactions:
http://www.medscape.com/druginfo/druginterchecker This link does require you to register for the results, but it shows you if there are actually any interactions first, so you only need to register if it shows that an interaction exists. Last edited by ~lostgurl~; 16-02-2007 at 12:46. |
