Pretty Pink Codeine
I used to know this guy named Enrico. He told me that if he tried to store his solution following a codeine CWE it would turn pink after a few days. Apparently Enrico could still get high from the pink solution. He thinks that perhaps it was the binder...
Does anybody else know somebody who this has happened to? Any potential explanations? |

Re: Pretty Pink Codeine
Swim has a odd question to ask that might be odd but, was the actual pill pink? I don't see how could you make a white/blue codiene pill change colour by extracting methods.

Re: Pretty Pink Codeine
The end product from most CWE's is white. SWIM thinks the OP was saying that it turns from a chalky white color to pink after a few days. SWIM thinks that the most likely explanation is that somehow the extraction and storage (and cold temperature if its in a fridge) would do something to the binders that turns the remaining product pink. If left uncovered, perhaps the solution could be absorbing something from the atmosphere to give it a nice pinkish hue. Shouldn't affect the potency of the product, though.

Re: Pretty Pink Codeine
Or one of the "inactives" was phenolphthalein - which acts as a laxative (to help with the constipating effect of the codeine?). And also turn a solution pink in the presence of alkaline material.

Re: Pretty Pink Codeine
This is why Nagog is the Super Mod! Excellent theory, sounds plausible to SWIM. Might want to check the box for this in the inactive ingredients. If indeed there is a large amount of laxative in the codeine, might want to figure out a way to get rid of that before ingesting a large amount of CWE...taking as much laxative as codeine can't be good for one's stomach, and could easily have some very painful lessons in store for the unwary user.

Re: Pretty Pink Codeine
Nope. No other active ingendients. Just APAP and codeine. The tablets are white and the extract is initially white. If it is not consumed within a few days it turns pink (although it is not stored in the fridge). This has happened to him twice. Weird.

Re: Pretty Pink Codeine
Could be one of the binder ingredients that makes it through the CWE and changes color, then. Perhaps its binding something in the air in SWIY's house. Try storing it in the fridge, the codeine should stay in solution, wonder if it would continue to change color. If it does, its probably something in the pill itself and not something in the environment.

Re: Pretty Pink Codeine
Incidentally Swim found that some CWE extracted codeine went BROWN after two days. Extracted from PARAMOL . Maybe this is the norm ?. Swim has never noticed this before because he always uses what he has the same day.
