Does Catnip actually work?

In the Encyclopedia of legal herbs and chemicals, it lists "CATNIP -- _Nepeta catoria" as giving a: Mild marijuana-like euphoria, more intense and longer-
lasting with tobacco.


It seems like a long shot to me, but I was wondering if any of you guys know if its actually true that smoking catnip gets you high at all.

Yes, it does. But beware there are multiple herbs sold under the name catnip . Normal catnip will not get you high, you need Nepeta cataria(Catmint).

where can you get "Nepeta cataria(Catmint)"? An herb shop or pet store? Where on the package will is specify that it's "Nepeta cataria(Catmint)"?

that depends on the package, the brand, ect. don't be lazy, look at the package.


you're most likely not going to find real catmint at a petstore, though there are many number of places you can order it online. you may also find it or order it from a greenhouse or garden shop.

Ok. Can you give an example of a reputable online garden shops where I could get it? Cause I'm not sure where to look locally (I don't know a thing about gardening, so I've never been to or seen a garden shop, lol).

look in your phone book under garden nursary. the online sources can only be discussed in the sources forum.


however it has been in my experience that if i go to a search engine and search for something by name i'll usually find a source for the thing i was searching for. and then that source can be searched for by name to see if there are ripoff stories posted about that source or success stories. internet search engines are great tools.
