Third death leads to drug warning
A rogue batch of heroin is thought to be responsible for the deaths of three people in two days. The third person, a man in his 20s, was found dead from a suspected heroin overdose at a house in Stafford on Thursday night.
It follows the deaths of Steven Bartlett, 38, and Nicola Marston, 26, at separate addresses in Stafford, on Wednesday and Thursday.
Two men were arrested following the third death and are being questioned.
Dangerous heroin supply
Three other people, a woman and two men, are still in custody after being arrested on suspicion of drugs offences, on Thursday.
Three more men arrested on Thursday have been released on police bail.
A 45-year-old man arrested following Mr Bartlett's death on Wednesday is also on police bail.
Det Insp Pete Wyatt of Staffordshire Police said: "This is the third death of its kind in the space of two days.
"We would re-iterate our strong warning to drug users there appears to be a dangerous supply of heroin in the area which is killing people."
The body of Mr Bartlett, of Greensome Close, was found at an address in Owen Walk on Wednesday.
Ms Marston died at her home in West Way on Thursday morning.
