Nubain experience
SWIM was in Mexico recently and came across a vial of Nubain. The doc suggested a dose of 1/2 CC and absolutely no more than 1 CC. SWIM thinks this bottle was 20mg/ml.
SWIM is experienced with opiates, but at this time had no tolerance as he'd had no opiates at all in at least 10 days. 1/2 CC IV gave SWIM the familiar feeling of relaxation as well as the itcy-ness that comes with opiates. 1/2 CC was far from overwhelming, so SWIM did another 1/2 CC. The second shot increased the intensity of the high, but was still far from overwhelming. A couple hours later, SWIM did 150 Nubain IM along with some Ketamine and felt very little by way of a noticable effect from the Nubain. SWIM's overall impression is that Nubain gives affects that could be expected from an opiate though not nearly as powerful as oxycontin or dilaudid. SWIM may do it again, but he wouldn't go out of his way at all to get his hands on it. - Beltane |

Re: Nubain experience
Here is some information SWIdr has compiled from rxlist.com. He has not had the opportunity to try this opiod or else he would also submit a report. SWIdr hopes this helps SWIbeltane and others considering trying Nubain!
NUBAIN (nalbuphine hydrochloride) is a synthetic opioid agonist-antagonist analgesic of the phenanthrene series. It is chemically related to both the widely used opioid antagonist, naloxone, and the potent opioid analgesic, oxymorphone. NUBAIN is a sterile solution suitable for subcutaneous, intramuscular, or intravenous injection. NUBAIN is available in two concentrations, 10 mg and 20 mg of nalbuphine hydrochloride per mL. NUBAIN is a potent analgesic. Its analgesic potency is essentially equivalent to that of morphine on a milligram basis. Receptor studies show that NUBAIN binds to mu, kappa, and delta receptors, but not to sigma receptors. NUBAIN may produce the same degree of respiratory depression as equianalgesic doses of morphine. However, NUBAIN exhibits a ceiling effect such that increases in dose greater than 30 mg do not produce further respiratory depression in the absence of other CNS active medications affecting respiration. CNS Effects: Nervousness, depression, restlessness, crying, euphoria, floating, hostility, unusual dreams, confusion, faintness, hallucinations, dysphoria, feeling of heaviness, numbness, tingling, unreality. The incidence of psychotomimetic effects, such as unreality, depersonalization, delusions, dysphoria and hallucinations has been shown to be less than that which occurs with pentazocine. |

Re: Nubain experience
the great thing about nubain is, it is no longer scheduled by the DEA. In the US of course.

Re: Nubain experience
Well, SWIM will tell a story about nubain..
He was an heroin addict, and had just started the methadone program, but was still not at a high enough dose and using heroin still. He was shooting in his foot, missed, and it swelled up like a baseball.. He went to the hospital and told them he was moving some furniture and just knicked it with a metal bed pole or something, and decided against telling them he was on methadone, because he was hopeful for some good pain meds.. Well, they came in and cut it open and drained all the puss, and dressed the wound.. They asked, did SWIM want anything for pain.. Of course, he did, he was an addict, so they came back in the room, and gave him a shot, in his ass, of nubain.. Nearly as soon as the shot was in, he started to sweat, and knew something was wrong. He started to shake and go into instant withdrawal, when his girl decided she was gonna tell the nurse that he was on methadone.. The hospital staff flipped out and immediately took him to a new room, and gave him an IV of demerol for the next few hours, until he was sedated.. Was one hell of a night, but the lesson here, is if SWIY is addicted to opiates or especially on them, then STAY AWAY from nubain, or any opiate antagonist.. Nubain will knock out any opioid or agonist out of the receptor site and fill it with an antagonist, causing instant withdrawal, similar to narcan (the drug they use to bring someone out of an OD).. |

Re: Nubain experience
Hmmm...interesting. Bongo has a tail..er..tale about nubain also:
Back yonder Bongo got terrible migraine headaches, as his father and his father did before him. And the only thing that worked on these monsters was narcotics. His dad took demerol. But Bongo had shaggy fur. So the doctors wrote him off (a smallish town where they all played golf together) as a narcotics addict looking for a fix. Only once in a green sunrise would any of them prescribe narcotics to the young ape. Bongo's parents knew the pain he was in - curled up in a ball on the floor puking and pounding his head - but could only suggest two things: Cut his hair. Go to the hospital emergency. He had to keep going to a different hospital as his idiot parents would tell them the name of the latest doctor to write that Bongo was a junkie into his chart. So one day it was X^(*($%$VZ Hospital. And the crew was very kind and came running with a needle of...NUBAIN! Bongo had never heard of it before - being a chemistry-inclined ape, he kept records of his own. And it was injected into the small of his back. The migraine rapidly vanished and the young ape went on his way to go sleep. Pain-free. That asshole doctor he was seeing heard about this. Guess he didn't know about the opiate-antagonist angle though. He simply accused Bongo of conning another hospital out of some dope for his humongous drug-habit. Then he conned Bongo's parents into taking him to a "specialist" who decided that injections of Lithium Carbonate were the way to salvation. Not to worry - Bongo refused. |

Re: Nubain experience
Ah yes, very important to remember that Nubain is an antagonist and definitely not for people addicted to or on other opiates. SWIM knew that and would not have tried it if it were an issue. Thanks so much for pointing that out here.

Re: Nubain experience
Nub has been used by some athletes since the late 80's as it believed it is an anti-catabolic opiate and some have used this when they want to train thru the pain barrier.Swim's only use of this compound was quite a few years ago and he hadn't done enough research into the area, thus he nearly ended up dead as swim took 2cc's out of a 10ml vial,40mg,also swim had an heroin addiction at the time,an instant cold turkey took hold with swim fighting to stay conscious, the cold turkey felt like it was highly amplified swim says and all bodily functions were uncontrollable, luckily someone was with swim and they managed to hang in there.Swim took lightly that it was an antagonist and thought they'd get an opiate high from nub how wrong they where.

Re: Nubain experience
SWIM used to do a lot of nubain while he was living in Mexico. With 1 mL (10 mg) IV, he would get an almost instantaneous warm fuzzy feeling, followed by mild euphoria and profound relaxation. Oh, and itching. Then he would nod off or begin meditating, which would lead to a very prolonged and comfortable hypnagogic state. This was almost always followed by deep sleep with vivid dreams. SWIM was also rid of pain, hunger, thirst and the usual nuisances of life for the following five hours or so. Except for constipation after prolonged daily use, no uncomfortable side-effects were noted. That is if one doesn't count tolerance: SWIM's tolerance increased rapidly, so that he had to inject up to 2.5 or 3 mL to get similar effects. Nub provided SWIM with very pleasant experiences, but they were far from the highs that he later got from demerol and fentanyl.
Nub is certainly not overwhelming, but it is ok for a mild high and a good sleep. SWIM found this substance more fun when combined with weed, which adds to the euphoria and makes thinking/meditating/dreaming more interesting. SWIM has stopped using for almost two years, but he recently got his hands on a prescription for nub, and is wondering whether he should or should not... |
