Re: SWIM's top 5 for rolling!

Taking into consideration the order they'd be played in 1 first 5 last swim would have to go with these fitted in throughout the night,

1. Born Slippy - Underworld
(ok so you just washed down your speckled mitsys and you get the butterflys in your stomach because you know whats in store, you reach for the decks and this song leaps into your hand, begging to be let loose. For anyone around swims age {anyone in thier 20's} and I'm sure others aswell, this track will always have a special place in thier heart and you just have to hear that big heavy echo effect base line kick in and instantly anyone thats ever rolled just gets this big knowing smile creep onto thier face as thier eyes start twitching and thier blood starts pumping)

2. Barber Adagio for Strings - DJ Orbit{the first and original dance mix of the song}.
(Ok 30 mins have passed and everyone knows whats coming next, already a few of you are getting the first rushes, the tension buzzing around the room could be cut with a knife. But its a good kind of tension. A collective sense of apprehention and excitement. Then in comes that melodic weeping string section suddenly and carelessly backed up by Orbits trademark kick and bass combinations. Everyone is stretching and smiling, eyes either closed or locked in contact with each other, chilling before the big unified rush of the senses.)

3. Force of Nature - Oasis
( 65 mins in. 65 glorious soul releasing minutes. You look around the room. Everyone is in ecstacy. The song kicks in, everyone exchanges looks at the unusual divergence from the tech/trance thats come before. Then the big fat drums start pounding along......"yeah I feel like a force of nature *boom boom*, Could make you sing like a bird released *boom boom boom*". Everyone can feel their hearts pounding along with that big bass drum and the place erupts into a volcano of emotion spewing out across the room as it breaks into the chorus with its wailing care free singing.

4. Push Upstairs - Underworld
(Two hours in and its back to business, the kings of techno doing what they do best. The rooms in the grip of some kind of beautiful madness. All worries are well and trully forgotten, they dont exist, nothing exists outside of this place and this moment in time except beauty and pleasure and fun and the combined electricity of a room full of people that right there and then are closer to each other than they have ever been to anyone. Your jaws are aching, not from the e but from smiling too much, all you want is warmth and contact and to feel the music coursing through your veins, thumping in your chest and energising your soul.

5. Hardcore Vibes - Dune {no, really}
(Hour 3 and everyone is buzzing along in thier own way. Never in a normal situation could you get away with doing what you are going to do next. You reach for your "Best of Dune" LP. Through the murmer and flow of the noises of unexplicable happiness the opening line cuts a path across the room in that sweet optimistic voice, "This one is dedicated to all the ravers in the nation" followed instantaneously by the most cheesy ping-pingy triangle sounding melody you have ever heard. And your not sure why but instantly for a reason noone can fathom it just sounds right. All around you hear the words "i fucking love this track" and its completely devoid of cynicism or pretention and you know things are only going to get better from here. This is our time. This is our drug. This is our music. This is our religion.)

......or something like that.

extremely generic, but definitely a must for a rolling mix.

Re: SWIM's top 5 for rolling!

my favourites are as follows ^^
in no particular order:

Leftfield-Swords
William Orbit and ferry corston-adagio for strings
Gabriel & Dresden-Without you near
Planet Perfecto-Bullet in the gun
jurgen vries feat. Charlotte church-brave new world (opera song)
