Cannabis and creativity
SWIM was a mechanic in the air force and has had extensive experience in mechanics and engineering. Right now he is studying to become a bioengineer because of a work related illness that he got some years ago.
This may seem a bit like bragging, but I'm really just asking if there are other people out there who experience the same kind of inspiration when using pot instead of the more powerful sedative hash. SWIM has usually only smoked hash because it is easier to get hold of over here, but recently he has only smoked homegrown weed. The effect is totally different from what he is used to. It takes SWIM high into intellectual ponderings, often of a philosophical nature. SWIM feels that smoking weed boost his creativity enormously because he can visualize complex mechanical systems and chemical/physical reactions in his mind as if he was holding it in his hands. SWIM has created some very ingenious inventions and ideas while stoned out of his mind. These are things that do withstand the scrutiny of a sober mind the following day. But SWIM must draw or write them down when they appear or else he forgets them. SWIM has now found that studying something intensely before smoking releases a tidal wave of creativity later on when stoned and it is not only confined to the topic studied but often spans several fields of engineering, philosophy and science. Things like watching a documentary (PBS, Discovery channel or National Geographic) have given SWIM much more pleasure than just watching a regular movie. But it often keeps SWIM awake for many hours during the night because he has to turn on the lights and start drawing what he has seen. Anyone else experienced this? I know many artists and musicians have used cannabis induced states of mind for inspiration, but are there any inventors out there? |

Re: Weed and creativity
SWIM lives in Denmark, and he has tried for some time now, on a regular basis to get hold on pot, but it's just too difficult. Most people here in Denmark smoke hash (yes, the stronger types), which makes SWIM really stoned, though the way he likes it.
He has tried pot several times, and he agrees, that the "stonedness", doesn't seem as heavy as with the hash, and the thinking seems more fast. Many of these effects SWIM also experience with hash, though pot just seems to do it lighter, so he congrats you with the creativity and homegrown ![]() Regarding science/nature channels, they've always been a hit. Though SWIM enjoys a good blockbuster movie, he must agree with the fact - there's nothing which beats Discovery Channel - nothin'! |
