Path to addiction?

Swim have read a lot about addiction and such, and swim know it can happen easily. Right now, Swim has some vicodin, and a few oxycotin (40). Swim hasnt done it much lately, he snorted a few percocet last monday or tuesday, and before that he did it a little bit. Other then that, it hasn't been too recent. Yesterday though, Swim snorted a 40, enjoyed, and now tonight he is wanting to do another one. Or at least half of one. Swim isn't really sure if doing that could start him on that path, he feels like if he does it, it means he can''t really stop himself. swim really does want to, Swim doesn't feel sick without it, but i still would like to. How quickly can addiction start?

Re: Path to addiction?

Psychological addiction CAN start on a first go - if SWIM enjoyed the experience. Be it with opiates, or spinning around on a stool at a soda fountain. Physical addiction with opiates generally takes several weeks. At this point it's best to gradually reduce the dose - rather than abruptly stopping.

If your pal SWIM is worried, it might be a good idea to tell him to avoid it. It's a slippery-slope with a dragon, breathing fire, at the bottom. No one is immune.

Dude, don't start pushing SFSS, it's a gateway drug. A good friend of mine started on a few revs a day and then it quickly escalated into dosing every few hours 24/7. Before long he could barely walk straight long enough to hold down a regular job. In the end he was mainlining revs wherever he could get them. Last thing I heard he had to be forcibly dragged off The Mad Hatters Tea Party ride at Disney.

All jokes aside Diss, SWIM has always been proud of the fact he doesn't have an addictive personality but even he has had to give himself a mental slap in the face now and then because he kept making "excuses" to dip into his stash of yayo. It all started innocuously enough when it was a holiday or a personal celebration of something. His weekend only rule soon began slipping to the point where if it was in the house there would always be an excuse to party that night. Thankfully he pulled himself up and kicked it to the curb before he got reduced to daytime using though.

As Nag said, whether it's Coke, Vikes, Oxy or Soda Fountain Stool Spinning, if SWIY has fun doing it then it's difficult to stop themselves finding an excuse to keep doing it.

When SWIY is high and promising himself that he absolutely definitely will not be doing it the next day only to find that he ends up finding a reason not to stick to that promise then SWIY has a problem and must deal with it.

Hang in there fella.

Re: Path to addiction?

Alright, that makes sense, its what swim has been hearing elsewhere aswell, thanks. The psychological part is probably kicking in some then. Swim knew it wasn't physical, He doesn't feel anything physical yet. he just didn't what to be stepping into something that happens in the beginning to everyone. It;s just hard not to do it when its there, or at least can be accessed within a phone call or two. He just loves the feeling, nothing compares, he wants to live with this, nothing will ever match it. I don't know, I have read a lot on this site, and it is very helpful for swim. This is the first post, and swim found it a pain in the ass to have to keep going back to use 'swim'. But its a good idea. Thanks again

Re: Path to addiction?

Swim finds that the best way to avoid problems with physical addiction is to set limits and STICK to them . This way swim finds he can use every day.

Limits are good, but using every day will still lead to a rapid increase in tolerance, and eventually addiction, even if lower doses are being used daily under a doctors supervision. The best way to limit use and prevent addiction would be to use only weekly or monthly, or less. Any more often than that and its tempting to slip into daily use. It can only take about a month of daily use, maybe a bit less, to become physically dependant.

Re: Path to addiction?

I have to say I agree and it takes a great deal of discipline if Swiy has a number of tabs to just use a certain amount of them.

Re: Path to addiction?

Its about impossible to do, Swim surely has trouble with it. Thats the problem aswell, he tends to get several at a time, so for example, he has been doing Oxycotin and vikes since he got them last like thursday or friday, thankfully I should be out by friday he hopes, he would like to use his last 80 friday night.
