Why can't people do the right thing?
Swim wasn't quite sure where to put this so move it if needed.
A couple hours ago swim and his friend where at the mall. They where trying to pick up some weed but all the people they know couldn't help them out, so they where forced to look for a new dealer. They found one and the new dealer says they need to walk to his house (Swim and his friend where buying an ounce). Everything seems to be ok it's swim his friend, the dealer and two girls that appear to be the dealers friends. They get to the house but the girls grandmother is there and won't let all of them in. Swim's friend hands the money to the dealer and the dealer goes into the house. He comes back out with some other guy and they say "let's go for a walk". So the four of them walk around to a dark part behind an apartment. The dealer suddenly pushed swim's friend and said "give me your money or you're going to get stabbed". Swim is so surprised he doesn't know what to do (hasn't had this happen to him yet). Swim's friend says "are you kidding me?" the dealer says "come on where's that fat stack of money you had". Swim still surprised and not knowing what to do watches as his friend hands the dealer the rest of his money (500$ total). The idea of running crosses swim's mind but he decides to stay with his friend just incase. Luckily they didn't take any of swim's stuff. Swim thinks his friend probably made the biggest mistake when he pulled out all his money and counted out what he needed for the ounce. Swim doesn't understand why people have to do this. The dealer obviously had alot of money already judging by the clothes he was wearing. So what the hell? Why can't you just sell the person their ounce and be done with it? Swim knew this was going to happen to him eventually but didn't expect it tonight. If swim ever starts selling drugs he is never going to pull crap like that on people. Sorry if that was a little long swim felt he had to get that off hs chest. |

Re: Why can't people do the right thing?
Not that I'd ever be in this situation with my current level of experience, but if I were - here's what I would do:
To save others the problem SWIM encountered (or worse), I'd call the police and report an armed robbery. No illegal substance traded hands. No problem for SWIM. That SOB belongs in jail. Period. I would not hesitate to testify. And I would keep my nose clean for awhile also. Stick to friends, people. People like that WOULD stab you and leave town - with Granny left with a shovel to try to bury the dead body in her apartment. |

Re: Why can't people do the right thing?
It seems like pretty bad business sense to rob your clients. If this guy was a legitimate dealer then he might have lost way more potential profit then he gained in robbed money. I wonder if he was even in the business at all, or if whoever set you up with him was in on it.
In Brazil where the cops are crap the dealers even go out of their way to stop other criminals in the area, for example in City of God. This is because they want people to feel comfortable buying drugs from their turf. |

Re: Why can't people do the right thing?
zera:
The person(s) were not legitamite cannabis dealers. It was a set-up. Guy from jail - a thug - got himself a stupid girlfriend with visons of a better life in her eyes. He sent her out to find a "customer" for a non-existent marijuana sale. She brought the "mark (as a victim is called)" back to the thug's grandmother's house. And strong-arm robbed the victim. Now do you wonder why this person was in jail for three years? I pity the grandmother. I'll bet he told her if she didn't do her part in the crime - he'd slit HER throat, too. Putting this asshole back in jail is a community service - period. Certainly worth the label of being a snitch or a narc. No drugs traded hands. If this asshole is a gang-member, that gang should kill him for giving them a bad name. (afterthought: ya know, if this guy is fresh out of jail and you can find his name/address - you could locate his Parole Offficer and have his parole revoked. Thereby bypass the police) Last edited by Nagognog2; 07-01-2007 at 05:37. |

Re: Why can't people do the right thing?
To Zera: He was a random person that swim and his friend found. No one they know set them up with this dealer. Swim's friend also let the dealer know that he would be buying more weed from him (large quantity's) so yes the dealer would have made more money off swim's friend if he had just done the deal properly. Swim learnt from another friend that he is infact a dealer, so really he is a bit of an idiot for what he did.
To Nagognog: To clarify, there where two girls neither appeared to be his girlfriend(s). The grandmother was that of one of the girls not the dealer, so it was the house of the girls not the dealer (don't ask swim how that works out). The grandmother was also leaving in her car when swim and his friend arrived there. The grandmother was driving around just to make sure only the two girls and the dealer went in the house, she then left. Swim and his friend where discussing the fact that he is probably violating a parole or probation, and that if he where to be arrested he would get 4 years just for that (In my country). The dealer said he was 18, there are alot of gangs around here made up of young stupid kids with nothing better to do but rob people. They name their gangs after large gangs such as the bloods (even though they have no connections to the bloods) and then they run around acting like they're big time gangsters. When swim went to his other friends house after, his friend there explained that he probably knew who had jumped us. That's how swim found out the dealer is a gang member and such. He also said that they have robbed other people in the neighbourhood. Swim's friend at the house also said he might be able to get some of the money back just because he has connections to the people who robbed them. The dealer and his friend might just be two stupid punk's. If that is the case they better watch there step. Although, if they are gang members, and do have alot of back-up, swim will just be leaving the situation alone (don't know about his friend). Swim hope's that all makes sense and is sorry if he's just rambling on. |

Re: Why can't people do the right thing?
Not rambling. Understood. If they are calling themselves "Bloods" - then the REAL Bloods wouldn't be amused. That would be like someone saying you rape Grannies.
May I suggest something? Get Out Of There! |

Re: Why can't people do the right thing?
Swim does not enjoy living in this city (never really did). It's getting even worse now, there's more money coming in and with more money comes more violence. Just last year the murder rate was higher than New York for a little while. Swim's city isn't even nearly as big as New York, population is around 1 million where he lives. Swim would move if he could but is really not in the position to do so right now. The gang situation is really a joke some gangs in the city are real gangs ofcourse, but then there are alot of gangs made up of young Vietnamese, young white guys from the suburbs or young Native Americain's. The Vietnamese kids stab people like it's nothing, the white kids think their smart if they can run around shooting un-registered guns at people and the native american's buy suv's with the money they get from the government and then they pretend like they're African Americain gangsters. I'm not trying to be a stereo-type or a racist, this is just the way things are, unfortunately.

"You have to walk naked to become a man." - Lakota (Sioux Indian)
It means you have to give up what you are used to to change things for yourself and learn. If you wait until the money is there to buy the mansion in the gated community to get away from the insanity - or at least lessen it - you might well be dead. Walk naked and find a new home to start in. It's the real way. Land alive and work on it. When you are ready. PS: "Tagging" is called counting coup. You touch your opponent first. You have won. And no one gets hurt. Damn savages!) |

This is why swim and his friend should carry a nightstick when dealing with shady people.

Re: Why can't people do the right thing?
To Nagognog: That's good advice but money is not the problem. Swim lives in an average house but he could sell it and have enough left over to buy two houses of equal size in other parts of the world. This is because the demand for houseing here is insane. He can't leave for personal reasons, but hopes to work that out soon so he can leave.
To Creeping Death: Swim did have a knife in his pocket but he was so surprised he forgot he even had it. Swim really was not expecting this to happen. Really he should have been, and normally swim would have already had his knife flipped open and ready just incase. He is a little glad that he did forget about it though because he might have ended up killing somebody. |
