Anal use - Alprazolam Intensol (liquid xanax) rectally?

My associate SWIM has recently acquired a 30mg bottle of alprazolam intensol by Roxane Laboratories, a liquid form of Xanax basically. His question is whether or not it is worth it to use it rectally? The solution is designed for oral use, but then again so are pills and people crush them up and plug them, right? And while we're at it what about IV? SWIM has no intention nor means of IV'ing this stuff, but it might be useful for other SWIMmers who come across this post

Alprazolam Intensol is an oral solution, usual concentration 1mg/ml. Inactive ingrediants are propylene glycol, succinic acid, succinic acid disodium salt and water.

Theoretically it could be used rectally. SWIY would need to be cautious. Bioavailability of drugs rectally is greater than orally (no first pass metabolism).

SWIY would need to start with a lower dose than they would usually take orally: Maybe a third to two thirds. SWIJ would also suggest diluting the oral solution, because trying to measure 1/3 of a ml is going to be tricky. Because the Alprazolam is already in solution she would imagine (but cannot confirm)that water would be fine, maybe 10mls: So 3mls would be approx 1/3mg.

As for iving: SWIJ would NEVER recommend preparations designed for oral administration be used for injecting. She would imagine that the oral syrup is full of sugars and ther flavourings which would be very dangerous to ones veins. Think infections, emboli and possible death.

omigosh this stuff rules. SWIM put 1mg (1mL) in his ass and was knocked the fuck out. Ususally it takes upwards of 2 xanax bars to do that to SWIM

Yes SWIdr hopes SWIY used his thread on rectal administration! SWIdr doesnt want to preac like he usually does about rectal administration, but it is very safe (exept sometimes nebies can OD due to lack of knoledge). As SWIJ says, SWIdr would never suggest anyone to inject a pill or comething meant for oral administration due to fillers and such. Yeah SWIY will save alot of money if he uses this liquid alprazolam rectally due to lesser amount of dosage for same results. Be careful though, dont overdue it!
