Oral use - Xanax (Alprazolam): Recreational Use?

WHat is the best starting dosage for recreational use ?
I took 2 0.5 ones yesterday and did nothing to me, just felt a bit sleepy, but nothing else.

And how long does it takes before it kicks in ?

Honestly i think there is no recreational use using benzo's, it's sneaky stuff, you get easy addicted to it. The only thing i can think about is, useit after speed, xtc, coke, to fell easier in sleep. Advice stay away from benzo's, i've seen loads of people going wrong with this.

Yesterday i took 2 mg and i only got a bit sleepy after an hour.


But i'm taking tranxene for about a month, ( 15 mg tranxene = +- 11 mg diazepam), so maybe i've to take more xanax.


Any advice ?

I totally agree with smartbee. Benzos should be used for coming down off stimulants. Addiction with subsequent rebound anxiety and sleeplessness can also be a problem when you abuse Benzos

Yeah. SWIM doesn't get direct euphoria from any of the benzos that SWIM is prescribed (Alprazolam, Bromazepam, Flunitrazepam, and Brotizolam). Like lots of people say, they should considered a tool.

(1) Get drunk faster, so you save money on drinks.

(2) Eradicate the horrible feeling coming down from any kind of high.

(3) Sleep.

(4) Mixes well with opiates. Also, when SWIM smokes marijuana, SWIM doesn't go into his shell and start thinking and being paranoid. Before SWIM would only do marijuana with his girlfriend or best friends, or at electronic music parties where dancing and the music matter more than socializing. Now that SWIM has all sorts of benzos to choose from since he is in a foreign country, SWIM can smoke marijuana without anxiety and be social which is great!

Xanax is my shit. swim used to be able to take half a bar and be pretty decently fucked up, but now swim has a regular tolerance of one bar. Swim can eat a few throughout the day, but swim can go forever without em. Sometimes when theyre around, swim will just take one and feel good for the rest of the day. Agreed the short term memory loss is a pain in the ass, but if you keep your closely needed personal items all in the same spot while taking them, you'll never lose your shit, so long as everything makes it back to your designated spot as soon as whatever is being taken is done with using.

To get a good buzz from xanax you might wanna drink with it. I'd take a few mg's and drink some alchohol. Hope this helps

I have a question about this too - although not really a question per se... Anyway, I get xanax as a prescription, and when I started taking it for panic attacks it was a godsend. Now, however, I probably don't need it so badly - nor as much - but I can't sleep if I don't take at least 3mg (even if I drink it takes that much). I don't take it during the day at all, just to pass out for the night. I've been on a thousand sleeping pills, none of which worked this well, because on the xani I wake up feeling awake instead of groggy. So I guess my question is a) how much of a built-up tolerance is it, since I'm only taking it once a day and b) any alternative reccomendations for sleeping well and waking up feeling alert?

I try to only take xanax now for coming down. It works perfectly with none of the jitters, insonmia, etc. I try to take 2 mg after I take the last hit of cola and start to feel the 'heat'. I thinik it takes about an hour to get fully into your system- that's just my estimate though.

Taking 3mg Xanax of any consistent duration is going to lead to tolerance and dependence. You should try to switch to Ambien for sleeping, say 5-10mgs. I need to know how long you have been on Xanax and at what dose because you may need to taper down with some xanax as well-so as not to have rebound panic attacks.

definetely drink a little alcohol with the zanex, and bump them if you want but thats bad news and supposidly doesnt work bumping it, just causes it to drip down your throat.

Tolerance to xanax builds very quick. 3 mg every nite will build a tolerance in no time. I detox every 4 months or so, just to lower my tolerance, because I have to take it daily also. When I get up to 4mg for it to have the desired results, that is when I go off them for about a month.</font>

Scored some Xanax this week. Last night I popped my Benzo virginity.
Took one 0.5 mg pill and waited. After 10-15 mins I felt a slight
co-ordination mismatch, a tiny wooziness. But not the euphoria or
relaxation I had expected. After half an hour I took 0.5 mg more. Felt
a more pronounced effect of the pills now, but just a general mellowing
out, slight drunken feeling.

Had no alcohol at all.

Slept deep and was pretty slow waking up today.



Had two 0.5 mg pills this afternoon. Again felt very close to nothing.
Just a slight slowing of movement and co-ordination. Ever so slight.



So is this me (being an old alcoholic & codein & ching user),
or the dosages. From reading the posts on this site, the real
interesting stuff starts happening between 1.5 - 3.0 mg Xanax??



Any input much appreciated.

you are not taking enough at all, man. you are taking the normal dosage for anxiety, not for recreation. eat six of the pills, that is only 3mg. make sure you don;'t eat more. it's gonna fuck you up, and eat them on an empty stopmach, so if you ate wait 4 hrs and if a big meal wait 6-8 hours. if you have a few beers, drink them on top of the xanies, or some rum and coke, but not too much alcohol.


i would be surprised if you didn;t come back later and tell a very funny story.


you could go up to 4mgbut since you haven;t used much it may be too much and put you to sleep

i would say 2-3mg would be a good dose as well, I would suggest a drink or two with it. there is no need to go overboard. the first time SWIM did xanax he had 4mg and didnt remember one damn thing...... sooooo pretty much i second whats above!

Before they put my lights out with morfine (?) for my wisdom teeth extraction (all 4), they gave me a Xanax, even though I told them I was calm and wouldn't need it. I took it anyway. After half an hour (empty stomach) it turned me very stupid and giggly. Not something I would take for fun.

Alrighty, tonight I'm on...3-4 mg Xanax...kinda lost count.

No alcohol. And I'm starting to see the benefits of these little pink
mofos. Next time I'll try those aforementioned two beers to wash 'em
down with. For luck and general empirical research, needless to say

First time I took 1mg with very mild effects. Slight drunken feeling, not much of anything. I weigh 115lbs. Next day thought I could handle 3mg, took em, waited for them to kick in, next thing I know i wake up in my bed the next morning. I was told I was walking around the house like a zombie with doritos falling out of my mouth then went to pass out. Week later tried 2mg, very sluggish, drunken feeling, heavy eyes, uncoordinated, slight amnesia,(had dinner with my whole family and dont remember a thing hahahah) then I passed out. But I wasnt zombie like, so I was told. In my opinion I dont find xanax very enjoyable. Seems all it does to me is basically make me tired, and at higher dosages, gives me amnesia which I hate very much. Rather stick to opiates...

SWIM has just recently been subscribed to Xanax .25 pills. He doesn't know how much should be taken for a good feeling (by not taking the normal ammount). He is aware the xanax is an highly addictive benzo. He is about 5' 10' and weighs 135 llbs and is pritty tolerant with pills. SWIM would really like to know because he understands 8 is equal to a xanax bar
