Swim thinks these people had weak personalities and had problems/issues even before meth use its probably the route they took for escapism. There are two clubs you can join the recreational drug users club (for strong minded people who like some time out) and the drug addicts club (for the i hate life get me outta here type people) we all start as recreational users you don't look messed up like those people in the pictures overnight nor do you become addicted overnight these people got to that state by personal choice fuelled probably by personal problems. Sounds harsh i know but swim has enjoyed recreational use for 25yrs he's experimented with many types of drugs he's got a beautiful family he's worked all his life and his kids are successful in life too, its the members of the i hate life get me outta here club that give drugs a bad name just as the alcoholic does with alcohol.

everyone reacts differently, its not just personnel issues people use as motivation to become like that, sometimes some substances can take over peoples life regardless of what they had beforehand i.e family, real friends , paying job, all the delights in the world etc. some people are also addicted to destroying themselves and no they are doing it. unlike those in the photos of people featured there that are not even aware, living for that sensation...

The photos shown reflect reality in a distorted way. Of course the minds behind this project have chosen the worst-looking photos they could get their hands on. But if the guy on photo 9 is in the top12 worst-looking meth heads, than it can't be so bad how they are trying to show us.

Don't forget 4% of US citizens used meth at least once. If the propaganda we get fed with would be true, one citizen out of 25 would look like the persons on these photos. In the US, the biggest cause for people permanently damaging themselves is fast food. That should be the "epidemic", not meth. Although I agree meth is bad when too much is taken, too often.

There are four ways that swim knows how to get a buzz on methampetamine - dropping, snorting, smoking and IV. Those pictures are probably daily IV users or smokers. Smoking the sh*t will fuck with peoples' apperance. However, snorting or swallowing your appearance is not going to change much with the exception of losing weight. Even though swim would get a bigger bang out of meth if she IV the drug or smoke it, but she doesn't because she is scared of what might happen. Snorting it and smoking it are two different buzzes. Snorting it swim is a busy bee, smoking it swim feels like relaxing. But remember smoking it, the meth smoke recystalizes in the lungs. Also, white spots (speed depositories from the unused speed) will appear all over the skin which is picked at, the reason for the scaring. My guess is that all the faces of speed are daily IV users or smokers not snorters. I have known snorters who have useing for more than 15 years and they look normal. It is the DEA using scare tactics again which people in the meth community can see right through it. The way you look depends on the delivery system for the meth. People look that way from smoking and IV use not snorters or the safest way is swallowing especially if the police are chasing you. No evidence no crime.

The theory that the smoke recrystalizes in the lungs is just a bunch of street level B.S. it get's absorbed in the bloodstream as it is water soluable how do you propose that it would hold a crystal form in your nice wet lungs? Anyway, smokers don't look like these shots either as a rule. Hell SWIM's boss has been smoking for over 20 years and is fit , looks normal , keeps his job and ... wait for it ... here it comes .... he even showers daily. All this even though he smokes daily. Suprisingly great teeth to. The only people SWIM has seen that looks like the photo's are cook's and people who live with them and regular IV users. I am basing these opinions on fact and not urban legend and misinformation.

Agree, you could do the same with brokers and make fotso of some of these peers when they crash down in their secret messy appartement, or alcohol coke addiction at nights*lol* there´re all kinds of guys and gals doing all the kinds of things this world´s to offer...

Not really... what's amazing are the amounts ingested and length of nonstop 'runs' involving lack of proper nutrition, sleep and 'self-care', not to mention the amounts of money spent (leaving the user no funds for basic body maintenance... a toothbrush or bar of soap may cost too much). The drug itself has little or no direct causality on the physical deterioration shown in such pictures.

Exactly! The government would rather spend money on scaring people than telling them how to AVOID ending up like this if meth happens to be your drug of choice (an unwise one IMHO). How about telling people that it is essential to top up with vitamin C and E to help counteract oxidative stress, or advise them on tyrosine supplements to replenish dopamine? Why not relegalise the drug so that inflated prices do not cause theft, fund criminal organisations, and stop people from affording basic sanitation?

Granted you get a few on occasion but the vast majority ends up a lying, conniving, cheating, stealing shell of a human being. Having been a very heavy iv user Swim also knows that in meth "smoking" circles, many of the smokers shoot their shit every given chance but smoke as a social habbit to keep up apperances. Swim was one crazy jackass because he would get out his can cotton and rig and do up a hit right in front of the smokers and when they cried about it swim would say "If you don't like it don't look!" Sure, not everyone steals (Swim actually didn't) Probably maybe only about half, but swim would wager to say and lay all his money on that at least 9 out of 10 meth users go down the tube and quickly.

Swim likes you more and more. You bet that is the truth. Swim has yet to see a meth addict that is an upstanding citizen. They lie, cheat, and steal as you pointed out to get their next fix. Anything for that fix. Swim also never stole, did a lot of lying in the day but that was about it. Oh things like na I just couldn't sleep the past few nights, nothing major. Oh yes, it does change your appearance big time. Swim was a model in her younger days, looks far from it now. Yeah your percentages are about right. I rarely see a meth person get out of the life. Coke people and heroine people get out more than meth people for some reason. Swim knew a man once, one story, who lost everything, family, job, house, cars, in 3 months, she kids you not. Today he is homeless 20 years later. Sad sad stories. Meth is totally destructive. If one doesn't see it, oh you will. I assure you. Tell swim 20 years from now how wonderful it makes you feel and your life is so blessed since you met meth.

I don't belive its meth alone that changes you're apperence... not NEAR as much as people say.

SWIM was never an hardcore addict like you guys may have been but he was using atleast a few times a week for months to years, never changed anyhting about him besides made him really skinny for a couple days untill he started eating again.

Regardless, SWIMs mother has been addicted for 20 years, everyday mabye twice a day, i belive ive said it before that she looks compleatly normal, fine teeth besides some fillings no marks on skin ect... (was also into modeling in her 20's)

So obvously its not just the meth but i belive the lifestyle... don't eat or sleep for 5 days, grind you're teeth like mad, dont shower for weeks, live on the streets get beat up and jump... ya ur gonna start looking different regardless of what drugs you're on.

Hmm given the choices would swim want a drive home from some guy or gal on methampetamine or some guy smoking weed high on LSD? Swim think swim knows who swim rather drive home with if given no alternative. Smoking weed and dropping acid is not a subsitute for meth, completely two different highs that might appeal to some but not to the 9-5 crowd. However, now there seems to be a cure for meth addiction cravings through the use of FDA approved medications that already exist and our available at your local pharmacy by prescription. Personally, swim would not wish this drug on anyone, for it is the devil, however at least for now you are able to stop the cravings with your doctors help.

Can you elaborate some more on this? Name of medication/links/references? What is this new cure for meth addiction cravings? I'm sure there are a lot of SWIMs on this board who would love a cure for this addiction. A readily available prescription that STOPS cravings you say? Such a thing simply does not exist.

Wellbutrin (buproprion, a SDRI if I remember correctly) has been touted as an effective med for coke & amfetamine withdrawals. Marketed in Briton as Zyban & is used exclusively in nicotine cessation - was taken off the market as an antidepressant many years ago after people started having major seizures, psychoses & episodes of dieing & stuff.

So you want to get off of meth? It is so easy and painless. First swim needs a doctor who will prescribed swim these medicines or else order from india. What swim needs is a renegades' chemical cocktail made up of 50 mg atarax and 400 mg gabantin 1 200mg modifinal 1 10mg valium 1 60mg Cymbalta in the morning then just repeat the atarax and gabantin in early afternoon and again in the evening but in the night take 1 30mg Remeron 45 minutes before bed time, it's not addictive and will help swim sleep. Repeat everyday for 30 days. It worked for swim, swim have no cravings what so ever for the drug after 8 years of use. It just happens, overnite, swim can't explain it , but swim had no cravings. If swim has no cravings swims control over the drug is increased substantially. Swim can be in a room where people are using but according to swim "say its the past and will remain the past, there are better highs that are not addictive." DOx comes to mind and the 2Cs are a blast. Meth is not fun and if this helps out other addicts swim would love to see those postings of success stories of beating this addiction. Swim heard this also works on heavy cocaine users too. Their cravings disappear also. It is supposedly some secret that a detox center is using charging patients 15,000 dollars for the treatment whereas you could easily administer the program yourself for the cost of the medication. Their cocktail is a little different requiring IV stuff, but renegades' cure requires no IV treatments. It is just smoke and mirrors. Might help going to a NA meeting too but not necessary.

Wihdrawals and cravings are 2 seperate important factors that need to be addressed when coming off meth, but we all know addiction is a lot bigger than that. SWIM has been off Meth for over 2 months now, barely any cravings at all and the withdrawal was nothing compared with the likes of heroin. But being off meth has not been hugely positive for SWIM's life, it is all the other changes that go with quitting meth that SWIM is having difficulties with, which are impossible to address with medication alone. This is why addiction has such a stronghold on so many peoples lives. renegades - SWIM would have loved to have access to the renegades chemical cocktail during the fisrt month after giving meth up, and SWIM believes it will be helpful to many others after reading this, but I think the reason SWIY has no cravings now is more due to mindset (maybe helped initially by using other drugs/medications). SWIM has no cravings and no desire at all to use meth again, but she still feels she has not beaten this thing.

Wow, SWIM is fucked up on vodka and hydrocodone, so he probably won't be as thorough as he would like to be, however, SWIM can say meth fucked up his life 2 different times. He would really love to go into both stories about how it has fucked up SWIMS life, and made it hard to get going in life. This shit is trash, he doesn't care who you are, but he can tell you, he actually agrees with this stuff being illegal. He has a very addictive personality but is also very educated and not a dopefiend. However he WAS a fucking dopefiend, and he used it for the weightloss. FUCK this drug.

He did it when he was 18 and selling all kinds of drugs. He can say he would smoke it for 48 hours straight. Never after the first couple of times did he really feel high, he just "needed" it. He can also say he has been clean for 2 years, however when he was 18 he started again when he was 20, he has just turned 23. He sees it from people at work, and really knows he hates it, but after so long of not using, seems to forget the harm it did and can actually fathom "smoking one bowl". However has managed to not do this, noting that, this is what happened when Swim relapsed.

I really believe this is one of the only drugs that SWIM feels he is "addicted for life", in the sense that he doesn't really want it, but in the back of his head he is almost like, "Man I could snort 1 line".

He hates the shit, and really wishes it would go away.
