Before and after methamphetamine pictures
SWIM did meth for one year about 8 years ago. When he figured out how bad it was for him, he stopped.
Recently, he saw on TV a special about meth. They showed pictures of users before and after for timer periods ranging from 6 months to one year. If a person wants to keep someone they care about off meth, SWIM suggests having them look at such pictures. It's truly amazing how much damage this drug can do in such a short period of time. SWIM's not about to demonize the substance, but in his opinion it's a bad one that can cause significant damage over a short period of time. SWIM found this picture when searching on Google. This pictures about says it all. Be safe- - Beltane |

Re: Before and after meth pictures
That is some pretty crazy stuff. Just gives SWIM more of a reason not to use meth. He is pretty liberal with his drug use and still won't touch the stuff.

Re: Before and after meth pictures
Not really... what's amazing are the amounts ingested and length of nonstop 'runs' involving lack of proper nutrition, sleep and 'self-care', not to mention the amounts of money spent (leaving the user no funds for basic body maintenance... a toothbrush or bar of soap may cost too much). The drug itself has little or no direct causality on the physical deterioration shown in such pictures.

Re: Before and after meth pictures
Fair enough. Actually, I'm sorry I didn't point that out myself as I'm acquainted with a couple people who do meth who have fared much better that the people pictured.
The pictures are powerful in and of themselves, but like everything should be examined objectively. Thanks again- - Beltane |

thats just sad in swim's opinion. there's a point of fun use and a point of losing self control.

Re: Before and after meth pictures
swim has been using this drug for around 6 months now... there are no noticable affects on his face or body other then a drop of fat, but only to be re gained by muscle... but swim also only uses every now and then, and even when... swim uses for long periods of times, he takes shower daily, washes face every day atleast 2 times, shaves when needed(his face hair hasnt fully developed so it only needs it between one and 4 times a week) and eats atleast one meal a day... he also atleast trys to get a little bit of sleep...

Re: Before and after meth pictures
SWIM has seen one man totally destroyed by meth. all his meth-using friends (some of them using it on a daily basis for 5 years now) are almost normal looking (yeah except for the extreme skinny look and the nervous body movements). no tooth problems. SWIM and his friends think that alot of the teeth damage from meth is also somewhat a problem of people forgetting hygiene while being on meth, not brushing teeth for long periods of time and not remembering to drink a lot of water.
SWIM himself does meth about 2 times / month (sometimes 3 times sometimes not once) and also only noticed a slight lost of weight, but thats it. not like his 1.75m friend with a weight of under 50 kg (daily use for 5 years) |

Faces of Meth
Well, not exactly much about the legal situation of drugs, but more about the war on drugs. In my opinion one of the more effect campaigns against drug use. If my information is correct (and I'm pretty sure it is) it was started by your average joe/blue collar corrections officer.

Re: Before and after meth pictures
SWIdr is not nessicarly against meth and its use, or thinks its good. These picures are the worst of the worst that county police have sent in. They must see ALOT of people who have been meth addicts for just as long and look no where near that. Although meth use is highly addictive and dangerous to make, causing a so called "Drug epidemic", this campainge does not make meth use look any worse to SWIdr. As said above, it is not the meth causing the "make overs" just lack of hygeine. Although meth definatly isnt good for you, it is not as bad as media and the government have made it out to be.

SWIM heard that meth had the smallest percentage of drugs for addicts getting and staying clean.

Quote:
The prison photos of inmates (bathed, fed and apparently ready for release) are set side-by-side against arrest photos after the poor bastards have been chased down (through god knows what) and had the shit kicked out of them, then thrown in front of a camera. *CLICK* Notice the scratches, bruises, and lacerations on the faces on most of these people in the "after" photos. While some have meth sores, many more have injuries. This goes a long way to indicate the degree of sincerity that LE maintains in their efforts to "inform" the public about drug use. |

Re: Before and after meth pictures
Hmm....ok so SWIM wouldn't be midly impressed if this was some nationwide campaign. Finding 12 meth users who went too far wouldn't be that impressive at all, but if this one county that is runnning this Faces of Meth program keeps getting more and more examples, I'll definately believe them more. Also, where is this county? I hate to stereotype, but if this county is full of a bunch of hicks, who says they all had pretty teeth to begin with? (Thats a joke) But seriously, I guess you get into a pyschological "chicken or the egg" problem. Maybe some of these users were so strung out, or had mental problems to begin with, that they just didn't care about (or even "wanted") the harmful physical effects that come with abusing this drug and not taking proper care of yourself. In high school, I knew a few "cutters" couldn't this be just another form (more long term) of the same sort of thing? SWIM thinks that recreational substances should be used for benefits and fun, not for this. SWIM has a "mentally unstable" friend, and we have talked about drug use quite often. Although he is intrigued by some physcedelics, he has enough self-restrain to know that he shouldn't use them with his current state. SWIM would like to know what kind of lives the people in this slideshow were leading before their meth use. SWIM wouldn't be surprised if they were going through some though things when their use began. SWIM has a rule to never use a drug as a coping mechanism. I hope he sticks to it.

Re: Before and after meth pictures
Swim thinks these people had weak personalities and had problems/issues even before meth use its probably the route they took for escapism. There are two clubs you can join the recreational drug users club (for strong minded people who like some time out) and the drug addicts club (for the i hate life get me outta here type people) we all start as recreational users you don't look messed up like those people in the pictures overnight nor do you become addicted overnight these people got to that state by personal choice fuelled probably by personal problems. Sounds harsh i know but swim has enjoyed recreational use for 25yrs he's experimented with many types of drugs he's got a beautiful family he's worked all his life and his kids are successful in life too, its the members of the i hate life get me outta here club that give drugs a bad name just as the alcoholic does with alcohol.

Re: Before and after meth pictures
^^
everyone reacts differently, its not just personnel issues people use as motivation to become like that, sometimes some substances can take over peoples life regardless of what they had beforehand i.e family, real friends , paying job, all the delights in the world etc. some people are also addicted to destroying themselves and no they are doing it. unlike those in the photos of people featured there that are not even aware, living for that sensation... |

Re: Before and after meth pictures
The point i'm making is that the story is saying... look what meth did to me! and i'm saying.. look what you did to yourself abusing meth. We make decisions in life and we have to stand by those decisions we make.

Where's the picture for Amerikkka's "Obesity Epidemic"?
Pic1 - All American hi-school cheerleader Pic2 - Five years later - All American fat soccer mom bloated out on taco's, cheeto's and bitterness. No graphical representation needed, we've all seen how these fat bastards get ravaged by the scourge that is high fat foods taken with a sedentary lifestyle. |

Re: Before and after meth pictures
The photos shown reflect reality in a distorted way. Of course the minds behind this project have chosen the worst-looking photos they could get their hands on. But if the guy on photo 9 is in the top12 worst-looking meth heads, than it can't be so bad how they are trying to show us.
Don't forget 4% of US citizens used meth at least once. If the propaganda we get fed with would be true, one citizen out of 25 would look like the persons on these photos. In the US, the biggest cause for people permanently damaging themselves is fast food. That should be the "epidemic", not meth. Although I agree meth is bad when too much is taken, too often. EDIT: MrG posted about the fast food epidemic 3 minutes before I did. Grrrrrrrr

Re: Before and after meth pictures
There are four ways that swim knows how to get a buzz on methampetamine - dropping, snorting, smoking and IV. Those pictures are probably daily IV users or smokers. Smoking the sh*t will fuck with peoples' apperance. However, snorting or swallowing your appearance is not going to change much with the exception of losing weight. Even though swim would get a bigger bang out of meth if she IV the drug or smoke it, but she doesn't because she is scared of what might happen. Snorting it and smoking it are two different buzzes. Snorting it swim is a busy bee, smoking it swim feels like relaxing. But remember smoking it, the meth smoke recystalizes in the lungs. Also, white spots (speed depositories from the unused speed) will appear all over the skin which is picked at, the reason for the scaring. My guess is that all the faces of speed are daily IV users or smokers not snorters. I have known snorters who have useing for more than 15 years and they look normal. It is the DEA using scare tactics again which people in the meth community can see right through it. The way you look depends on the delivery system for the meth. People look that way from smoking and IV use not snorters or the safest way is swallowing especially if the police are chasing you. No evidence no crime.

Um, Meth, Crystal meth. Is absolutely, the dumbest, worst DOC (drug of choice) a dog could ever choose. If someone were to wish to be high, *caps lock* smoke some marijuana or do LSD for christ sake~!
